  • Great Vacation!!!

"Prime Time is a great house for a family vacation...we have stayed there several times over the years, this being the first time with these owners. I did not have any problems with the house which I felt the need to call, A/C did great. There are small cleaning issues with any rental, nothing major. We absolutely loved the house an had a wonderful week there, the only bad part was having to leave. I would highly recommend this house (unless of course it is during a week I want to rent it :))"

  • Gorgeous location

"This is a very hard review to write - there were so many good points to this house, but several areas need some attention. I would have to suggest to the resort managers that they consider taking a couple weeks and doing some maintenance. I guess I'll do the bad first because I want the good points to be most memorable. Okay, here we go (had to shorten b/c character limit) The elevator did not work for the first 4 days. We finally flagged down a truck that was next door from the rental agency and he came over and fixed it (one interior door was not completely shut). We called property manager and they sent someone but he couldn't fix it and just left. We requested chairs for the balcony, never got them. The waterfall in the pool does not work. The lights/sound in the hot tub do not work. Broken lounge chair at the pool, and the bottom of the pool was all chipped with huge spots of missing paint. The tile around the top edge of the pool is coated in scum and needs a thorough cleaning. Bugs floated out of the pool filter, which we explained to the pool boy. He said he would turn the filter power up, but bugs continued to float back out of the filter so we spent a LOT of time cleaning the pool. There was a septic smell that drifted around the pool area occasionally that was really unpleasant. There is an outdoor sink/fish cleaning station next to the shower near the pool. There is a wasp nest under the sink. The palmetto bug problem is the worst we've experienced in Florida, although I'm not sure if anything can be done about that, but I had to mention it because we rented a house last year and seen one of these bugs the entire week. On a normal night here we would come out on the balcony and see at least 20, and found several in the house. The can opener was missing from the kitchen. We constantly ran out of ice, so maybe a larger ice maker would be useful. We requested an outdoor table of some sort because we like eating near the pool on family vacations, never got one. Mattresses need replacement, they were very hard. The good - very close to beach, beautiful view, beautiful landscape, great house layout, huge balconies, the stars at night are incredible, loved the game cabinet and the kitchen, and the shell collection at the entrance and on the shelf above the stairs, guard at entrance to community, the Beach(!) is perfection. Fortunately for us, the good far outweighed the bad and I would stay here again. Maintenance is all that is needed."

  • Wonderful open spaces for family fun! Could easliy be a 5 star!

"Most of all we thoroughly enjoyed our week in this spacious home with a 2 min. walk to the beautiful beach. Our grand kids enjoyed the pool in the evening and all of us got in the nicely private and screened in hot tub at least once to relax. All the beds were nice and comfy with nice bedding and ample room in each including the bunk room. The lay out of the house suited us very well with one family with 4 kids on the west end, the other with one kid on the east end and us, the grand parents on the first floor in the master (hey we paid for it we get the master!). The kitchen had plenty of pots and pans, toaster, crock pot and mixer, etc. The washer and dryer are large which cut down on our number of loads giving us more time on the beach. The screened in outside table and chairs gave us a great place to sort our voluminous shell treasures and to do some beach crafts. We enjoyed the beautiful sunrises from the open front porch. We prepared all our meals in the home except for one dinner out at the Blue Parrot. The food there was really good and we loved the outside atmosphere. The only negatives that warranted 4 stars instead of a 5 is that; the house wasn't well cleaned, sand on the couch cushions, mold in the shower, floors not sweep and vacuumed well and kitchen sink in need of some scrubbing. The kids would have enjoyed some pool/beach toys and we even had to purchase salt and pepper as well as dish washing soap as there were none provided. No hair dryers. Also there is no internet service after about 8pm which our guys saw as a definite disadvantage when watching a football game in the evening. We grilled out some but sure would have preferred a gas grill with a cover over instead of charcoal and unable to be used on the two rainy evenings. There are 3 places to buy groceries but stock up before you arrive since the selection is limited and prices high. There's also not a ton of beach activities at "our beach" which us girls liked but the guys were a little bored. The wave running was helpful and since it was off season the cost was reduced from $100/hr to $150/2hrs (but they had to ask for it!). All in all I would stay here again in a heart beat since the lay out was exactly suited for our family. We stay in different beach houses each year from Destin, Crystal Beach, Sea Grove etc and this one was the one I liked the best. Even though I mentioned negative aspects they were all pretty minor in the scheme of things."

  • Great Family Getaway

"We really enjoyed our stay. Jerry and his daughter were wonderful to work with. The house was spacious, neat and clean. Just steps away from the shared pool (although it was too cold to enjoy) and a beautiful stretch of beach. We watched dolphins from the balcony and walked to the lighthouse and nearby shops. The only recommendation is for a larger supply of hot water. With five people taking showers we sometimes ran out of hot water. We hope to visit again in the warm months! Highly Recommended!!"

Cape St. George Light and Keeper's House Museum: Learn about a bit of the island's history at the Cape St. George Light, a 72-foot brick lighthouse. The original structure stood for 153 years until it fell in 2005, but it was restored in 2008. Today visitors can climb the 92 steps to the top of the light and check out the unbeatable bird's eye view. Next to the lighthouse you'll find a replica of the original Keeper's House that's now a museum and gift shop. Inside you can see exhibits about the history of the lighthouse as well as a collection of artifacts. There's even an audio-visual interactive archive where you can check out videos, documents and photographs.

Sea Oats Art Gallery: Art lovers will want to plan a trip to the Sea Oats Art Gallery, which opened in 1996 and features the largest collection of art on the Forgotten Coast from local artists and craftspeople. The selections are constantly evolving, and there are currently about 80 artists showing their work throughout the space. As you peruse the gallery you may get the chance to meet a local artist or craftsperson dropping off their latest work, all of which reflects the island lifestyle. If you're interested in making art, the gallery also hosts workshops throughout the year.

St. George Island Public Beach: At least one day (or many) at the beach is a must when visiting this Florida spot, and St. George Island Public Beach is a great option. It's easily accessible and offers stunning views. Find the perfect place to lay down your beach towel and settle in to soak up the sun, catch up on a hard-to-put-down book, build the world's best sandcastle, throw the Frisbee. Dive right in the warm waters for a swim or try and catch a wave. Not only is the beach user-friendly, but there are pavilions for a delicious picnic, a playground for the kids and a ball court. You're sure to enjoy a lovely day filled with tons of fun. You'll also be able to see the lighthouse from the beach.

St. George Island State Park: To spend some quality time in nature, head to St. George Island State Park where you can enjoy a day of outdoor activities including boating, kayaking, hiking, canoeing, swimming and more. Paddle out onto the waters or grab a map and plan out an exhilarating hike. No matter what you do, keep an eye for the local wildlife, including turtles and birds. When you need to refuel, the park offers picnic areas with grills for a delectable meal al fresco.

Dining on St. George Island

Blue Parrot Oceanfront Cafe: Dining out while on vacation is always a joy because you get to experience to the local flavors of the place you're visiting. For exceptional fresh seafood and amazing water views, head to Blue Parrot Oceanfront Cafe. Dine on the outdoor decks, or if it's too hot, take your meal in the air-conditioned dining room. The cafe is right on the beach, making it a perfect place to sip a fruity daiquiri, pina colada or other beverage. Some menu favorites include conch fritters, seafood gumbo, stuffed grouper and crab cakes. Meat lovers have plenty of options as well including steaks, chicken and burgers. After your meal, you can rent a jet ski and have some fun on the water.

Harry A’s: Another great dining option is Harry A's where you can get breakfast, lunch, dinner or a late-night snack. It's a laid-back place and they even have a kid's menu for the little ones.
