Recent St. Joe Beach reviews

"My family of four stayed here for a week in the fall and loved it. The house is large, clean, and very nice. It is stocked with EVERYTHING except your clothes! St. Joe beach is a beautiful beach, and the house was just perfect! We rode bikes, walked, kayaked, played in the ocean, and took the golf cart to the beach, store, and to visit friends. We will be back..cannot wait!"

  • New England Visitors Escape to Florida!

"We stayed here with our dog for the month of February 2015. It was wonderful not dealing with the unending snowstorms and terrible weather in the northeast. Florida was unseasonably cool and we often wore slacks and long sleeve shirts. Despite the temps, it was mainly sunny and the beach was beautiful for walking. The house is set up with everything you need and situated one block back from Rt 98, which is good. Beach is just on the other side of that road and walk from house to beach is easy. Furniture is comfortable and we found kitchen/pantry, etc. was well supplied. Whatever we used, we just replaced if we did not buy/bring our own. One thing to note: I had visions of pushing my dog out the back door into the fenced yard every morning while I wandered around in my pajamas fixing coffee, etc. However, backyard and screen room in backyard can only be accessed by gate at back end of driveway, outside of home's entry door - no "lazy-in-your-bathrobe" way to do it without giving the neighbors more than they bargained for! That wasn’t terrible though; it just meant we got dressed and took her out and we walked, which she liked better anyway. We did enjoy the decor and colors of the home and spent a good deal of time there reading, eating in, watching TV, using our laptop, etc., just like at home. This was a good thing since the visit was a of a longer duration. We visited Apalachicola twice, which husband really liked. I enjoyed Cape San Blas and we drove to Panama City Beach one day and also the place where the dead lakes are. We ate at most all the restaurants in the area at one time or another. We had our fill of oysters (liked Indian Pass Trading Post in Indian Pass and Boss Oysters in Apalachicola) and shrimp. Husband went out twice with “Fish’n Express” and caught red snapper and grouper, which we enjoyed both there and now here at home! The dog and I enjoyed our daily walks on the beach. And husband and I also liked the Lookout Lounge, which is a weird little bar/package store right near the time zone line (in Mexico Beach area) that reminded us of a place we used to visit in our "old days". We had a great time visiting this area in Florida and Andy and Linda made it easy for us as first-time VRBO users to navigate through the process. You guys are the best – come up and eat some lobster with us sometime!"

  • love love love

"Our family rented this lovely home in Aug 2014 and was without a doubt the BEST ever! This beautiful home is lovingly decorated in cute shabby chic theme and is exceptionally clean. The kitchen was wonderfully stocked with all needed utensils and there are plenty of linens etc. The photos do not do it justice, especially the pretty landscaped yard and screened in porches. We enjoyed several afternoon naps on the lower level porch swing. The owner, who was very sweet and helpful, was readily available by phone when we had a couple of questions. The home is on a quiet street and the 2nd floor porch has an incredible view of the ocean. The beach is literally a 2 minute walk from the front door. The community is very quiet and the "locals" are colorful and friendly. Apalachicola is just a short drive where there are some fun and funky shops and restaurants. We highly recommend the interesting, historical civil war era home tours and cemetery. Our family is already asking to return for our 2015 summer vacation!"

  • Women's week at the beach

"Four women, a full week, absolutely perfect getaway. This house (we only used half) is ideal for a great carefree vacation. We thoroughly enjoyed being in an immaculate house with enough room for us to have privacy as well as room to be together whenever we chose. The beach is right outside the back door - nothing between you and the sand. The large double porches, one up and one down, with rocking chairs for all were ideal for watching the sunset over the gulf. The nearest houses are just far enough away that it feels like you have the beach to yourself. And the beach is pristine. Beautiful white sand, amazingly clear water, and some great dolphin watching was there for us daily. The kitchen is well stocked with all the cookware, utensils, plates, glasses, etc. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are modern with ceramic tile showers. The rooms are spacious with plenty of storage. All in all, I would say this beach house leaves little to be desired. I definitely will come again. The location is wonderful, too, as day trips to Apalachiacola and Wewahitchka were only a few miles away. We scored some fun shopping and a bit of Tupelo honey. Most days we couldn't bear to leave the beach. Also, there are enough delightful rustic seafood restaurants nearby that we never had to worry about where to go for dinner. Thank you so much for the perfect getaway."
