"We were more than pleasantly surprised with the accommodations, the view (!!!) and the surrounding area for our October stay. The condo is excellently appointed, in fantastic condition and very comfortable. The south-southwest facing balcony was perfect for viewing the sunsets. The kitchen was fully adequate and the beach access was fantastic. The only inconvenience we found was that we are very short people, and the bathroom sinks were stylistically taller than normal, but we found that on the level of burping your wine at the end of an incredible evening out. Not that big a deal.
We drove instead of flying to PCB, so we had our own tent and beach chairs. I would advise this for anyone within driving distance. The third-party private business on the beach in front of the condo that rents umbrellas and chairs is NOT economical by a long shot... and the umbrellas they have cast no shadow on where you're actually sitting anyway. So, bring your own if you can.
Janet gave us a heads-up on some maintenance being done, and she was concerned about the possible noise. It ended up being no distraction at all and, when we happened to encounter some of the workers, they were very accommodating and apologetic. Our attitude is that nice places need maintained to stay so and anyone who would lessen their rating due to such a thing is just being obtuse.
Pier Park did not keep our interest much. If we had the grandkids along, they would have loved it. We were more about lounging on the beach. We go in October to avoid the crowds, and we were surprised to see so many kids there. We found out that several states are now giving fall breaks. There were not so many kids as to be disturbing while on the beach, but they did dominate the pool and hot tub... neither of which we got to use at all.
We didn't feel the local (we do not go to the chains) restaurants were up to the prices they charge, and I suppose that was our biggest disappointment with the town of PCB. However, we did also go to a concert at the Marina Civic Center and had fun at the Panhandle Festival, complete with carnival rides, games and fair food.
So, our advice: eat in, lounge on the beach, take a walk, bring your own chairs and umbrella, watch the sunsets, have a glass of wine, read a book, have some of the other guests over for a few laughs and new friendships... and basically don't leave the property much. It's really a little slice of heaven. We will definitely be back!!! THANK YOU, Janet!!"
