"My husband, 15-year-old daughter, and 10lb. maltipoo just returned home from this lovely vacation rental. The owner, Don, was clear and thorough in all his communications, and greeted us warmly on our arrival. The house is well appointed and conveniently located—less than a mile to the bustling shops and restaurants of Atlantic Avenue. It would be an easy walk or bike ride, though the most direct path is better for driving or biking than walking, as there are limited sidewalks in some parts. The house itself is great—spacious and spotless on our arrival, and the terrazzo floors kept it cool and were nice for the dog (and also keep the place from smelling "doggy" over time). Comfortable beds, a cute kitchen with all the basics, cable, WiFi, a screened porch with a gas grill and an unexpectedly large yard. The on-site washer and drier made it easy for us to pack light, since we knew we could do laundry halfway through our stay.
The neighborhood itself is just delightful.. a slice of old Florida that is becoming increasingly rare. Lovely low-slung houses and mature plantings, so that we felt we were coming "home" each evening. It was a pleasant surprise, since we've rented nice houses and apartments in less-than-nice neighborhoods in the past (so much so that we now google the surrounding street when we rent). This place was in a quiet, residential neighborhood. You can bike around the area, take the local Delray Downtowner free golf-cart taxi service (except from Christmas through New Year's), and walk.
Despite a lifetime of visiting south Florida, we had never spent any time in downtown Delray, and we are now fans. Thanks to the location, the house and the host, we will certainly return to this area, and hope to rent this house again. We absolutely recommend this property to renters who seek a peaceful and quiet place to come home to but still want to be near where the action is. Six thumbs and four paws up for this property!"
