  • So nice - A convenient yet peaceful vacation rental

"We rented this house to escape the cold, snowy northern winter. This lovely house, located in a quiet neighborhood, is a few houses from the Intra-coastal waterway. It is beautifully furnished and comfortable and we easily settled in for a month of sunshine and warmer temperatures. The kitchen is well equipped for whenever we wanted to cook inside but several times we used the gas grill available outside. When we were not out and about we particularly loved being out in the nicely landscaped, fenced in and private yard. The patio with outdoor furniture made relaxing enjoyable. We had lunches, dinners and even a few naps there. It was also a great place to read and paint. In the evening the many spotlighted plants in the garden provided a peaceful sanctuary. Our host Jamie, only a phone call away, was extremely helpful whenever we had a request. This house is so conveniently located for walks to the Intra-coastal waterway and to the market. We found its location to be near all kinds of shopping, parks along the water, many restaurants, movies, fishing piers and charters, golf, and tourist attractions. We brought our small lab and she loved the garden. We were able to take her to several parks and beaches that Jamie had told us about. If you’re looking for an escape to Florida during the winter (or anytime) and to be near lots of activity but relax as well, this is the place to be. And you could not find a better host! We give this 5 stars and highly recommend this vacation rental."

  • Living where the sun shines

"We stayed in this unit from January 5th through February 28th, 2015. Its location is excellent. The block includes a Publix grocery store, Catholic church, and place to rent bikes. The ocean beach and an excellent bike trail are a couple blocks away. The unit has everything two people need – living room, kitchen with counter for meals, bedroom, bathroom with tub/shower, and lots of storage space. It has hot water when you need it (once you realize that the kitchen sink faucet has to be turned to the right rather than the left to get hot water). The kitchen is well supplied with dishware, silverware, microwave oven, stovetop burner, toaster, and coffeemaker; it could use a toaster oven, blender, crockpot, and set of mixing bowls. The refrigerator needs defrosting monthly. The beach chairs and beach blanket are great. The building wi-fi worked well most of the time. There is a storage area for bikes outside. The laundry in the building is okay but cost us $25 a month. The outside area is nice, with a pool in the shade, but the best part in January-February is the strip near the street where the sun shines. We met other guests in passing in the elevator and the lobby. It would be nice for the hotel condominium to have a weekly reception for guests to meet each other. We had a few small problems. Street parking can be found a few blocks away, but having your car that far away is inconvenient even if the walking is healthy. The hotel condominium is in an old building built in the 1920s; use of the air conditioner and dehumidifier is required to keep the unit’s humidity at the right level; the air conditioner is set at 70-75 degrees; and their noise interferes with using the television or phone in that room. When we arrived, the unit had a very musty odor; we finally solved the problem, except for a whiff of odor as we entered the room, by replacing four ineffective air fresheners with a container of DampRid activated charcoal that we bought at Lowe’s. We did not use the dead bolt on the entry door; it can only be opened and closed from the inside and it resisted being opened, even after the maintenance guy worked on it. The weather strip at the bottom of the entry door is old and needs to be replaced. The bed’s wobbly headboard needs to be stabilized. We brought our recumbent tandem along to bike, and that was our main activity -- on Palm Beach and around southern Florida. Shark Valley Trail is the best for seeing alligators on the side of the road."

  • Perfect Getaway

"The house was even more lovely and beautiful than we realized. The pictures didn't even do it justice. The house was clean upon arrival and we were given a tour so that we felt comfortable. Great location and house. The pool is great and there is a nice amount of space to relax outside whether it is by the pool and jacuzzi, in the sitting areas or by the screen porch bar. Really enjoyed this stay."
