Old Florida Paradise
"We left Chicago In January minutes before a blizzard hit and landed in Fort Myers with the best weather in the country. We arrived at the Beachfront Tortuga and discovered Paradise in Old Florida. The view took our breath away. This romantic location has everything: sparkling waves, walks along sugar sand beaches, gorgeous sunsets; all in the front yard.
The galley kitchen is large and fully equipped with everything useful. There is ample dining seating for eight with additional seating on the deck. Beds are comfortable with flat screen televisions in every room. The master bedroom is beachside with a panoramic view of the water. Street side there is much off street parking and the noise from Estero Blvd. is minimal. Restaurants, stores and nightlife are very close. The two inside baths are recently renovated. There is an outside bath with shower in the laundry area which is very helpful.
The front yard is nicely secluded, extremely quiet, peaceful and presents beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico and its sunsets. The yard extends to the beach, has natural Florida landscaping and a brick bordered fire pit for those rare cool evenings.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning to paradise."

"I rented the home to celebrate my twin daughter's 15th birthday. I arrived to a beautiful house with ample space for my twins and their 4 friends. Having a house full of teenagers can be a challenge but the layout was perfect for our occasion. My husband and I kept the Sunset side to ourselves and the girls took over the Sunrise side of the home. The big comfy couches were a great spot to catch up on the days activities and plan the next days adventures. We took the girls fishing and also went to collect shells at Lover's Key which was about 15 minutes from the house and at Sanibel Island about 30 minutes away. The beds were all comfortable with nice clean linens. The air conditioners worked wonderfully and the house was nice and cool every day. We were able to enjoy sit down dinners at the large table for 10. The kitchens had everything we needed to cook and bake.. which the girls did plenty of. There is a grocery store about a half mile from the house which was very convenient. There were beach toys and chairs available for our use, as well as a wagon to tote all our belongings down to the beach for the day. The walk to the beach was quick, maybe 2-3 minutes. The pool was great, especially in the afternoon's to cool down after spending the first half of the day at the beach. We all loved the outdoor shower which also has hot water. I am looking forward our next trip to Fort Myers as I have found everything I was looking for in this home and plan to keep coming back every year. I no longer have to search for my peace of paradise, I found it all in one place."

Had a wonderful, relaxing time - felt right at home!
"Our family (2 adults and 2 sons aged 18 and 22) stayed for a week and had a great time. Everyone really liked the house. The pool provided a quiet place to just relax and reconnect (sons are away at college). There is a small backyard which was perfect for our 2 chihuahuas. The home was comfortable and cozy. The boys rode the bikes to the beach every evening while mom and dad chose to walk. We saw a manatee while sitting at the dock on the bay. Close to restaurants as well as the grocery. Had a great time and would definitely stay there again."

"The best Spring Break ever thanks in part to our wonderful accommodations at the Desert Rose! Three generations from California, Texas, Indiana and Florida enjoyed this wonderful Key West inspired house! You will feel at home here. The master bedroom is on the third floor with its own bath and walk out patio. There are two bedrooms downstairs which share a bathroom. There are plenty of linens to meet your needs for the week. I think each room had a TV but I do not believe any of us turned them on! That is a real vacation!!! Skip, the owner, has many books and movies for you to enjoy if you choose. Outside the main floor is a beautiful deck with a hammock which several of us took naps on! So peaceful and calming. The French doors open into a huge family room/kitchen area. The NCAA tournament was watched a few times on a nice flat screen TV! There is a futon and two couches which were great for the kids to sleep on. Seriously, plenty of room in this place! The kitchen had just about everything you need to cook fabulous meals! There is a Weber grill on the porch. Off the kitchen is a laundry room with brand new, large capacity washer and dryer. Out from the kitchen was the porch where we spent a great deal of time. It was kind of a rustic, western theme. At the round table we played cards everyday and build memories with the little kids! Downstairs you will find a pub style, poolside patio. There is a dart board where we had a couple dart competitions! The pool.....wonderful!!!! It was perfect!!! The beach was a short walk away and we went everyday for walks and even flew kites! Skip has a lot of beach toys, beach chairs and a wagon to cart everything. We watched several sunsets and loved the location! The trolley pick up is right down the road and very convenient. One thing I was hesitant about when we booked was the fact that the owner lived on the first level. No problem! In fact, it was nice to have him around. If we needed anything, he was extremely helpful. We look forward to seeing him again when we book this house in the future!!!! Thank you Skip!"
