  • GREAT CONDO!!!

"My husband and I just spent 3 months in this GREAT condo. It is very neat and clean and so close to so many attractions such as shopping and the beach. Just minutes from Sanibel. We were very lucky in that our landlord lived on property. If we had any questions or concerns, he was more than willing to help us. This is a very welcoming place to stay and we made many good friends during our stay. I woul highly recommend this condo to anyone wanting to stay in the Fort Myers area."

  • KC

". .Great relaxing place, very clean, and beautifully furnished. The entire property, including pool and harbor view, was very nice. Area is great for food, sightseeing, and water adventures of all kinds. Very unique unpopulated island added to the fun. Our trip was too short to enjoy everything this area has to offer. Highly recommended and will plan return visit. Owners are very friendly and helpful."

"Fantastic cottage on a fantastic island. All you need to do is show up here, the bungalow is well stock and the golf cart is a plus. Whenever I return, this is where I will stay. Dealing with the owner was a breeze, I highly recommend!"

  • Perfect family vacation home!

"The best Spring Break ever thanks in part to our wonderful accommodations at the Desert Rose! Three generations from California, Texas, Indiana and Florida enjoyed this wonderful Key West inspired house! You will feel at home here. The master bedroom is on the third floor with its own bath and walk out patio. There are two bedrooms downstairs which share a bathroom. There are plenty of linens to meet your needs for the week. I think each room had a TV but I do not believe any of us turned them on! That is a real vacation!!! Skip, the owner, has many books and movies for you to enjoy if you choose. Outside the main floor is a beautiful deck with a hammock which several of us took naps on! So peaceful and calming. The French doors open into a huge family room/kitchen area. The NCAA tournament was watched a few times on a nice flat screen TV! There is a futon and two couches which were great for the kids to sleep on. Seriously, plenty of room in this place! The kitchen had just about everything you need to cook fabulous meals! There is a Weber grill on the porch. Off the kitchen is a laundry room with brand new, large capacity washer and dryer. Out from the kitchen was the porch where we spent a great deal of time. It was kind of a rustic, western theme. At the round table we played cards everyday and build memories with the little kids! Downstairs you will find a pub style, poolside patio. There is a dart board where we had a couple dart competitions! The pool.....wonderful!!!! It was perfect!!! The beach was a short walk away and we went everyday for walks and even flew kites! Skip has a lot of beach toys, beach chairs and a wagon to cart everything. We watched several sunsets and loved the location! The trolley pick up is right down the road and very convenient. One thing I was hesitant about when we booked was the fact that the owner lived on the first level. No problem! In fact, it was nice to have him around. If we needed anything, he was extremely helpful. We look forward to seeing him again when we book this house in the future!!!! Thank you Skip!"

Fort Myers Beach Travel Tips

More than 6,200 people call Fort Myers Beach home. This town located on Estero Island wasn't officially incorporated until December 1995, making it a newer Floridian hotspot. Although Fort Myers Beach may be small, more than 1.8 million visitors flock there every year to enjoy the beaches, fishing, shopping, dining, golf and entertainment along the Gulf.

There's no undertow in Fort Myers Beach, making it the "World's Safest Beach" and perfect for families who want to get their toes wet. The entire island is 7 miles long, a nice walk or jog for those who want to work in a little exercise on their trip.

The area that was once home to Native Americans and Spaniards is a favorite among tourists who dine on "pink gold" shrimp and celebrate the fishing industry with the week-long Shrimp Festival held in March.

Fort Myers Beach Attractions

There's a lot to do on the tiny island of Estero including water sports, beach activities and outdoor and indoor attractions. There are 25 public beach accesses on the Gulf side of Estero Island that are marked for easy spotting.

You can stop by one of several playgrounds and parks in Fort Myers Beach. Head to Lynn Hall Memorial Park, where you can fish off of a 600-foot pier. Sports lovers can venture over to Bay Oaks Recreation Center for basketball, tennis and volleyball courts.

There are 17 acres of fun on the northern tip of Estero Island at Bowditch Point Regional Park. For more protected wildlife areas, check out the Matanzas Pass Wildlife Preserve with a restored cottage, 42 acres of wilderness and a sanctuary for native plants and animals. Seven acres are developed for a park and the rest remains part of a preservation. There are boardwalks that allow visitors to Estero Back Bay access to observe ospreys and pelicans as they fish for food. Kayaks and canoes are available at Oyster Bay and Lovers Key Barrier Island.

Things to Do in Fort Myers Beach

Lovers Key State Park: Lovers Key is one of four barrier islands that make up the park. Bottlenose dolphins, West Indian manatees, marsh rabbits, roseate spoonbills and bald eagles call these waters and land home. The 2-mile-long beach is popular for shelling, swimming, picnicking and sunning. Over at Black Island you can enjoy 5 miles of hiking and bicycling.

Shopping: Plenty of shopping is available in Fort Myers Beach and Estero Island including antiques, custom-made souvenirs, clothing and jewelry. Tanger Outlet Center features more than 40 brands including Nike, Coach, Coldwater Creek, Gap and more.
