  • Perfect place to relax

"This quiet & secluded cottage was just what we needed. It was clean & homey. The area was beautiful, & the short walk to the gorgeous beach took only a few minutes. We sat on the beach every morning with less than a dozen people within sight. We even saw a young manatee in shallow water our last day! We ate lunch at The Blue Dolphin & dinner at The Lazy Lobster. Both meals were fantastic! We enjoyed walking around the area daily with our dog & loved Durante Park because of the natural beauty. The new Publix is only 4.4 miles south which we visited several times. Oh, the outdoor shower was absolutely wonderful! We can't wait to come back!!"

  • A Perfect Family Getaway

"We stayed at the house for a week during March 2014. We had my wife three children (adults) and my daughter in-law and two grandchildren. The house was perfect. Of course it always helps to have nice weather which we did. The house is well maintained on one of the finger streets on the north end of the island on the bay side. The kitchen is well laid out and reasonably equipped. We did a lot of cooking. There were even extras like spices and cooking oils available if needed. There is a master bedroom, and bath suite on the top floor. It is a lovely room with a comfortable bed and a nice view of the canal and the pool. The pool is heated and easy to control. The other bedrooms were also well laid out with clean modern baths. The neighbors are all friendly and have known the owners for years and seem very comfortable with guests staying in the house. The maintenance person is available and very helpful. The beach is about a ten minute walk. There are not many beach access points on Longboat Key but this is by one of them. You can park by the church and there always appeared to be spaces available but we ended up always walking. The beach is beautiful and fairly private. If you want the crowds go north ten minutes just over the bridge to Coquina Beach in Bradenton. It is a beautiful beach and you can get ice-cream and even a beer. Further north is more of what you would expect of a beach town, little shops, restaurants, pizza. Going south you are headed towards Sarasota and St. Armand’s Circle. It has more upscale shops and restaurants. Also think about DryDock on Longboat Key. Make reservations at least a week in advance. Go out for a kayak trip. You will see dolphins, egrets and Great Blue Herons. We had our own personal Great Blue Heron that hung out at the pool and an egret that hung around also. You can rent a boat fairly close by but in the end we did not have enough time. It is about an hour to Busch Gardens in Tampa. Try not to leave the island after 3:00 PM. The traffic is very heavy. So stay near the house if you can and enjoy. The owner is terrific to deal with and very prompt in answering all our questions. In sum it is a terrific place to stay."

Activities in Longboat Key and Surrounding Areas

When you can start of the morning dangling your feet off the dock and watching the manatees surface, you're ready for anything. You should start off by exploring the island. There are numerous places Cabana Beach Club vacation rentals where you can rent or charter a boat, kayak, jet ski, or even a bicycle. Take a sunset cruise and watch the leaping dolphins, or dangle a fishing line to try your luck with the area's snookie. A kayak lets you get close to Florida's mangroves and brown pelicans in Sarasota Bay. Bicycle paths run up and down the island, and are a perfect way to get to know the tropical areas surrounding Longboat Key beach rentals.

You can also take a break in Sarasota, a cultural mecca on the mainland. Before going to see a show at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center or the nationally acclaimed Sarasota Opera House, stop in to Le Macaron, a French pastry shop that serves delicious croissants and, of course, macaroons. These tasty tidbits will make you glad you stayed in Cabana Beach Club condos.
