  • More than "As Advertised"

"Sandcastle is the perfect place for relaxing, reading, walking, shelling, and then relaxing, reading, walking, shelling! There's never a chance to be bored with the breathtaking views and beautiful beaches. In fact, the one-week girls' getaway for me and my friend last winter will turn into a two-week getaway next winter. We loved the uncomplicated "beach time." The home is spotlessly clean and well decorated. The beds and the furnishings are very comfortable and more than adequate. This property is very well managed and maintained; we wanted for nothing during our stay. Jeff and Jane are the most helpful people you can imagine; they answered our "newbie" questions with humor and patience. In fact, they even came to our rescue when our golf cart became mired in sand. The washer and dryer were especially handy; we will bring more food and less changes of clothes next time. We ordered groceries ahead of time at the Publix in Cape Coral as recommended; the taxi from the airport made a stop so we could pick up the boat packed staples. Since the kitchen was so well equiped with appliances and utensils, cooking was no problem. As for restaurants, Barnacles' was a little pricey for not-very-good food; however, Over the Water was quite reasonable in price and food offerings. This is a special place that is even more beaurtiful than the pictures and descriptions depict; I can't wait to return!"

  • Old Fashioned Charm

"The best thing about this charming home is all the natural light that fills the rooms. The furnishings are a little ragged and could use some updating, but the location of this house can't be beat. My biggest complaint is that the washer and dryer are underneath the house - it's pretty gross, actually. You have to romp through dirty sand to clean your clothes and if you drop something from the dryer on the ground ... Well, you get the idea. Be aware, there are NO closets, so if you're planning on staying for a while, pack accordingly. All that said, it is a sweet house and I had a great time."

  • Wonderful Beach House

"My wife and two children and I had a fantastic vacation to North Captiva and really love this house. The view of the bay and intracoastal water way is awesome. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching boats, dolphins, cormorants, pelicans, and sea gulls. The kitchen is well equipped. The house was very clean. There were plenty of sheets and towels. We enjoyed riding the golf cart on the island and eating at Barnacle's. Kids like the ice cream shop. It was also very nice to have a well protected dock in the harbour for my boat included."

  • Private elegance

"Casa Paterna is sumptuous, elegant, and comfortable all at the same time. Near the end of a flowered shaded path, the house is a 20 second walk from the beach. The house is beautifully decorated--feels more like an Italian villa than a rental. The downstairs is wide open and gorgeous with a soaring ceiling and sliding doors to a porch that looks out to the sea. But the upstairs suite will take your breath away. What a room, what a bed, what a view. Lying out on the master bedroom's deck (awesome lounge chairs) looking up at a zillion stars is what I remember best. The weather wasn't great while I was there...very windy, but Diana and the house were perfect."
