  • Relaxing family holiday

"Travelled to North Captiva with the family for my wedding on the island in April 2015. Everyone was blown away when we walked into Runway Blues. It was exactly what we were hoping for. The home is tastefully decorated throughout and having the separate guest house meant everyone had their own space. We would come together on an evening to enjoy a meal either in the main dining room or on the balcony. Watching planes taking off and landing from the top balcony was brilliant. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Tom was excellent, going above and beyond his duties to help us when we needed him. North Captiva is a hidden gem in Florida and my parents are already planning their return visit!"

  • Manatee Haven…Should Be Manatee Heaven!!

"We stayed for a week and wished we could have stayed for a month! My sister, my parents and I stayed at Manatee "Heaven" to celebrate a milestone birthday! We had never been to Upper or North Captiva but it sounded like an adventure! Kay, the owner is extraordinary, she is kind, caring, informative and quick to respond to any questions. The vacation we had was one of the best we have had as a family in Florida. You are totally off the grid, it doesn’t feel like you are in Florida at all, for all you know, you are on a Caribbean island. The experience of being on the island and in the house is so peaceful, calm, and tranquil. The house is beautiful, absolutely anything and everything that you want is there and more, Kay and Jake have thought of it all. The pool and hot tub are both lovely, you can float around, read, play, daydream and there are places for sun and for shade. We loved sitting out on the lanai for dinner looking out to the ocean and watching our osprey fly by with beach debris they were gathering to build their nest. Morning coffee and happy hour was spent on the observation deck with a 360 degree view of the island. Another bonus in the house is the elevator, having the elevator for my parents made all the difference in the world as they both have knee issues and stairs are a challenge. We would go down to the beach every morning and then go back down to sit and watch the sunset, shells were everywhere, but people were not, it was not crowded or busy. The wildlife also was a highlight, you will see gopher turtles walking down the road, osprey everywhere, birds at the beach, dolphins and manatees in the ocean - it is their island and their world and we were sharing it. I haven't mentioned the roads - there are no paved roads! No paved roads means, no cars, no traffic, no noise, we loved that! Everyone drives around the island on sand roads in golf carts, which was very fun and adds a whole new layer to the island. Jane as the manager was so helpful and welcoming and checked it to make sure we were OK. The people that work on the island that we met were so lovely and helpful whether it was at Barnacle Phil's, Boats R Fun or the Island Girl Charters staff that brought us over, they were all great. It’s a vacation where you can just stop and get away from it all! We have already booked for next year and are counting down the days! Thank you to Kay and Jake for sharing this little piece of heaven!"

  • Really is a perfect placement

"My family and I stayed at Perfect Placement the first week of March. There were 7 of us (including a 5yo and a 6 month old). There was plenty of space. Everything was clean. The location of the house is absolutely perfect. Steps from the beach. Our favorite spot was the screened in porch. We ate out there most meals. The sunsets were perfect! We loved the feel of the island life. Slow pace. We really enjoyed access to North Captiva Island Club. We went to the pool most days. We played tennis one day. Rented bikes (free) one day and Kayaks another day. We rented a boat one day and really enjoyed exploring nearby islands. We only ate out twice. Once at the pool bar for lunch. And then on our last night we ate at Barnacles. It seemed a little pricey but since we just did it once, it wasn't too bad. I had read a review that someone said they wish they had packed more food and less clothes. Even after reading that I still felt the same way. I wore 1/4 of the clothes I brought- I pretty much lived in my swimsuit and coverup. And we ended up ordering more groceries half-way through the week. I would suggest adding bottled water to your grocery list. We initially didn't do that, but the tap water tasted a little funny. We had a great experience ordering our groceries through Sandie and having them delivered to the house. I would highly recommend staying here and hope to come back myself. This is a great place to get away from the busyness of life."

  • Trip with the Family

"I travelled with my significant other and parents and had an amazing time at the Little Oasis. It was a perfect relaxing spot with all the amenities. January was a little chilly but the pool felt like a hot tub, which was incredible! The golf cart makes it easy to get around the island, especially for our little fishing spot by the airport strip. The three days at the Little Oasis on North Captiva Island were the most enjoyable of the whole two weeks spent in Florida. Thanks Marie!"
