"This is the first year we stayed on North Captiva Island and we were a bit nervous at first as we usually spend spring break in Naples at a resort, so this was definitely a change. We are very happy to say that everyone in our family agrees that Las Olas is even better than what we've done in the past. We love the island and the beaches are beautiful. The house is impeccably maintained and every detail was considered in providing for guests. It was very relaxing and our family made some great memories playing games, ring toss, and ping pong. We also had some pretty intense rounds of water basketball in the pool. We found lovely shells and saw lots of wild life. Thank you, thank you, Steve, as well as Mark and Helen for a lovely stay!"

"My family and I stayed at Perfect Placement the first week of March. There were 7 of us (including a 5yo and a 6 month old). There was plenty of space. Everything was clean. The location of the house is absolutely perfect. Steps from the beach. Our favorite spot was the screened in porch. We ate out there most meals. The sunsets were perfect!
We loved the feel of the island life. Slow pace. We really enjoyed access to North Captiva Island Club. We went to the pool most days. We played tennis one day. Rented bikes (free) one day and Kayaks another day. We rented a boat one day and really enjoyed exploring nearby islands. We only ate out twice. Once at the pool bar for lunch. And then on our last night we ate at Barnacles. It seemed a little pricey but since we just did it once, it wasn't too bad.
I had read a review that someone said they wish they had packed more food and less clothes. Even after reading that I still felt the same way. I wore 1/4 of the clothes I brought- I pretty much lived in my swimsuit and coverup. And we ended up ordering more groceries half-way through the week. I would suggest adding bottled water to your grocery list. We initially didn't do that, but the tap water tasted a little funny. We had a great experience ordering our groceries through Sandie and having them delivered to the house.
I would highly recommend staying here and hope to come back myself. This is a great place to get away from the busyness of life."

Runway Blue is a Beautiful Unique Island location, perfect for familly vacation,Relaxing,Quiet, fun
"My wife and I decided to take our entire family on vacation this year. We were searching for something different and no one would forget. In July 2015 the group (wife and I,4 kids,2 son-in-laws,1 boy friend,2 1/2 grand kids) traveled from Jacksonville Florida and rented both houses of Runway Blues from July 4-July 11 2015. After reviewing the pictures and looking at other reviews in advance we were still very happily surprised with the quality of the homes. I was originally stressed about the process of checking in at the North Captiva Island club but it was so simple. All our belongs were safely packaged, shipped and delivered to our homes perfectly. Next stress reliever was seeing Runaway Blues caretaker Tom at the dock waiting on us with transportation ready to go. I cant say enough about Tom's knowledge of the island and the help he provided us. THANK You so much Tom. Next I will say how happy I was that we arranged our food provisioning with Sandies Grocery. The process of figuring out what you need can be challenging but once that is done and you see all your food in the fridge when you arrive, any service fee that Sandies requires is well worth it. I would recommend bringing as much as you can in your totes of things like soda, beer, alcohol, lotion, etc as it is expensive on the island. You can get last minute basic items at Mango's but the selection is small and it is expensive. ($20 for a 12 pack of beer) Regarding what we did on vacation, we spent our time on the beach's (either end of the runaway, one public beach) and at the Island club pools. During our time at the beach we saw many dolphins as well as many types of fish. We also spent a lot of time using the golf carts to explore the island as its unique beauty is hard to explain. I highly recommend spending some time doing that... Unique to the homes around the airport is watching the planes take off and land which occurred at least 1 or 2 per day. I like the fact that as some point the island will max out on development so it will hopefully maintain some if its old Florida look and feel. Overall the value was good considering we have 11 people staying for 7 nights. If you take into account food and all other associated expenses, our stay on North Captiva was comparable to staying in other places in Florida. I don't know if I will bring everyone back, my wife and I are already planning a return visit. I wish I could own property on the island."

"Stumbled upon this little gem while searching for places to take our honeymoon. We weren't really finding the secluded and relaxed feel we were wanting while looking at Sanibel and Captiva. We were drawn to the idea of no vehicles and shopping malls.
The house was in great shape. One of the only places with a privacy fence around the pool. The observation deck was a great feature early in the mornings and late evenings. There's even a little beach view. Don't forget first aid items! The local store is limited and very pricey.
While the preserve on the island was pretty cool we enjoyed the beach by the house much more. If you're wanting to rent kayaks I suggest Barnacle Phils over NCIC. The prices are better and more choices on the kind of kayak.
Overall, we had a great time. It was relaxing and the house was great! I think the best feature is the fenced in pool with the outdoor bed!"
