  • Very quiet / secluded - perfect for couple

"If you really want to detach from reality, this is it. Very comfortable with just the right amount of practicality. Best beaches for swimming are on the other side of the island (2 minute golf cart ride). Fish from the beach 25 steps from your front door. Bring ice (store ran out one day). Gary is amazing... just a phone call away for any questions or last minute adjustments. We'll be back!"

  • North Captiva's Best

"Las Alas is the greatest! This house is wonderful - beautifully decorated, equipped with the best beds, linens, towels, furniture. Great panorama views from all decks. Very private with gorgeous landscaping. I took home many decorating and landscape ideas for my own Florida home. We could have stayed all week in the house and been happy with all the entertainment options (pool table, horseshoes, ping pong table, pool, direct TV, Pandora radio, board and video games, books) , but we also enjoyed the wonders of the islands. The house is positioned close to the best island beach. The house beach chairs are the best! The house is equipped with ocean kayaks and a trailer, so it was easy to launch kayaks into the lagoon to explore the harbor and beyond. This house was also fully stocked with all high end supplied needed. No way to run out of any essential like toiler paper, soap, paper towels, garbage bags, gourmet spices, laundry soap, and tons of soft colorful beach towels and bath towels. This might seem like trivia, but when you are isolated on an island with essentially no stores, it makes the trip carefree. I have heard many others in more expensive rentals that did not have basics and that is a good way to interfere with vacation fun. This house will not disappoint, in fact, it will make you love it more each day!"

  • Perfection...heaven on earth.

"A friend and I visited the cottage for 5 days and loved it. The location is one of the most private on the island--very well-kept. Great layout and use of space. Very quiet... The island itself is a paradise and this cottage fits right in. :) Loved every minute there. It is a just a few minutes golf cart ride to your choice of gorgeous beaches...There simply is no place like it. A few notes for your trip to this fabulous cottage. Sugar, flour and vegetable oil are not kept in the unit so include that on your grocery list, though you will find standard spice selections."

  • 4th of July Family & Friends Retreat

"Exactly what we expected and more! Thank you for sharing your beautiful butterfly beach home with others! Tropical, remote island makes it feel like we were really far away, especially with no cars, just golf carts, boats & walking. I also like the fact that there's only 1 television in the whole house so if you want to see a movie or event on TV then everyone congregates upstairs in one, big comfy room! Best sunset views I've seen in a while & I grew up in Florida! Great selection of DVDs, novels & games, plus, wonderful artwork all over the house created by owner. Beds and furnishings were super comfy, but our favorite part was exploring. Getting a fishing guide was the best idea we had with catching over 50+ large snook in the pass. Cindy was very helpful in coordinating our arrival with caretaker/ bellman , "Mr Sherman". It was Definitely a plus to rent a home with membership to the North Captiva Island Club. Their pools and equipment rentals kept everyone active. Our gang kept the local restaurant, Barnacles, in business from cobia fish tacos, lobster mac&cheese to yummy ice cream. If you have a fishing boat, like we do, it pays to make buddies at Barnacles with the mgr or Tyler and ask them to give your boat a "private" slip around back. A little farther driving the golf cart from house than the club's docks, but better overall for your boat- especially on busy holiday weeks like we had. Our favorite boat ride restaurants: Cabbage Key; Tarpon Lodge Restaurant (Pineland Marina) & Gramma Dots (Sanibel Marina)"
