  • Perfect family vacation

"We stayed at The Coral Reef for a week with two toddlers and 5 adults. It was a great house for us- close to the beach, a pool to use while the kids napped and accomodated all of us rather well. Mark and Sherman were very helpful any time we had questions or needed help. We loved cruising around in the golf cart, spending our days at the beach, seeing turtles all over the island and going to visit cayo costa (definitely a must-do)."

  • Absolutely Perfect!!

"This truly is the best place on the island. The home is so comfortable, clean, and bright. We loved the screened porch and relaxed while watching fishing boats during the day and the sunsets at night. We loved being that incredibly close to our own private beach. Everyday there was something new to see on the beach or in the water; dolphins, manatee, birds, shells. Mary Beth and Glenn have this home so well-stocked, we settled in quite nicely. They were very helpful with grocery and transportation suggestions, and showing us around the property. They were right, there is nothing quite like an outdoor shower! This was one of our best vacations ever and had a very hard time leaving it. Cozy home, beautiful beach, peaceful island...we will be back. We wouldn't want to stay anywhere else."

  • Fantastic Family Getaway

"We travelled from Toronto with our young kids (4 and 7) and had a wonderful time. The absence of cars made staying on the island so peaceful! The house is in very good condition, had all of the items we needed and lots we hadn't expected (including beach toys, movies, books, games, etc.). We swam every day at the club and played tennis there too. From the deck we saw dolphins daily as well as tons of birds and other wildlife. The beach directly in front of the house is extremely pretty and has soft clean white sand. The water is a little rough in that area - so we put lifejackets on the kids when they played in the water there. We also drove the little golf cart and explored other beaches on the island - many of which have calm shallow spots for swimming. We rented kayaks one morning and had a great time looking for manatees. We didn't see any on that journey, but saw them a number of times in the little marina area. We ate out a few times for dinner and enjoyed those meals. The only store we're aware of on the island was extremely small and had very limited supplies so you should definitely bring everytihng you need with you. Jane and Jeff were extremely helpful and friendly. We have every intention of coming again."

  • 4th of July Family & Friends Retreat

"Exactly what we expected and more! Thank you for sharing your beautiful butterfly beach home with others! Tropical, remote island makes it feel like we were really far away, especially with no cars, just golf carts, boats & walking. I also like the fact that there's only 1 television in the whole house so if you want to see a movie or event on TV then everyone congregates upstairs in one, big comfy room! Best sunset views I've seen in a while & I grew up in Florida! Great selection of DVDs, novels & games, plus, wonderful artwork all over the house created by owner. Beds and furnishings were super comfy, but our favorite part was exploring. Getting a fishing guide was the best idea we had with catching over 50+ large snook in the pass. Cindy was very helpful in coordinating our arrival with caretaker/ bellman , "Mr Sherman". It was Definitely a plus to rent a home with membership to the North Captiva Island Club. Their pools and equipment rentals kept everyone active. Our gang kept the local restaurant, Barnacles, in business from cobia fish tacos, lobster mac&cheese to yummy ice cream. If you have a fishing boat, like we do, it pays to make buddies at Barnacles with the mgr or Tyler and ask them to give your boat a "private" slip around back. A little farther driving the golf cart from house than the club's docks, but better overall for your boat- especially on busy holiday weeks like we had. Our favorite boat ride restaurants: Cabbage Key; Tarpon Lodge Restaurant (Pineland Marina) & Gramma Dots (Sanibel Marina)"
