  • Fell in love with North Captiva and Windswept

"We just returned from our first visit to North Captiva Island and Windswept. We had an amazing time in a very beautiful place. The house is exactly as pictured and described, and Mark and Wendy are incredibly helpful and responsive to any questions and issues. North Captiva has some unique qualities, you need to take the water taxi to the island, and we elected to have our groceries delivered. There are only a couple of on-island restaurants, but with the large and well stocked kitchen at Windswept, cooking your own meals is a breeze ( literally, with the island breeze coming through the windows). Highly recommend this house and location, and Mark and Wendy as owners."

  • PARADISE FOUND!

"The moment we arrived at Rainbows End we knew we had found paradise! From the comfy, and wonderfully decorated interior to the screened outdoor porch and side deck, we were hooked. The website pics are spot-on, but can’t convey the wonderful feeling you get when you actually arrive on that deck! It was most difficult to pry ourselves from that deck... not only did we take up positions in the 2 lounge chairs, watching for frolicking dolphin, soaring osprey and the ponderous but graceful pelicans, but also watching the ebb and flow of the Gulf meeting the bay, in front of the house. Sunrises brought out shore birds, and shell hunting, and the sunsets, were magnificent. We explored many of the island laneways by golf cart, walked the beaches and kayaked the bay and dock areas – even viewing manatees up close and personal in the cove. Surprisingly, we ended up dining in for all meals, using up most of our groceries and even had to take a ferry ride (NCR) to Pine Island mid week for additional supplies. But this was an adventure also! If you are looking for sun, sand, and surf and total relaxation, this is the place for you. This was our first VRBO rental. And we are happy to report that Rainbow's End is immaculate, fully equipped and positioned at the best spot on the island. From our first inquiry, Mary Beth was responsive and very helpful. (Remember, you’re not going to Orlando here!) She fully prepared us for the trip, explaining how one gets to North Captiva, advising us to get ferry reservations early and to make arrangements with the Publix market for provisions to bring with us (there is virtually nothing available on North Captiva itself). Having now spent a fabulous week there, the two best tips we can offer anyone considering a visit to Rainbows End are: 1) do it! and, 2) take half the clothes you think you’ll need – and twice the food (and drink)! We will be back! Thank you Mary Beth and Glen, for sharing your bit of paradise with us."

  • AMAZING week in paradise!

"I can not say enough wonderful things about the house and the owners! We had a family of seven stay for a week and we are already planning our vacation back for next year. The house is beautiful and the amenities were outstanding! We have stayed in many homes but none of them compared to Stardance! The kids loved the pool and golf carts. It was so peaceful and quiet and the beaches were fabulous. The views from the house are outstanding and we saw dolphins, sharks, manatees and tons of beautiful birds. If you are looking for the perfect family getaway you will not find a more perfect house and island!"

  • Do I Share or Not?

"Florida has been my families’ spring break go-to spot for years. This year we stumbled upon a closely kept secret -- a tropical paradise. Frankly, I have mixed emotions about sharing the experience or just keeping it myself. Our trip began at Pine Island where we took a boat shuttle across the sound to North Captiva Island. It felt like a trip to another country where things were simpler - no cars, no loud crowds, no tourist traps, no huge hotels; just peace and quiet. When we arrived the caretaker, Jason, met us at the dock with our two golf carts. He led us down dirt roads to Bluefin Beach House - a stunning house tucked in lush vegetation. The home is fully air conditioned, with screened decks, decorated in a beach motif, with it’s own private pool and hot tub. This house was amazing - clean, roomy, and set up perfectly for a large family or several families traveling together. There are three master suites with private baths and balconies. My kids loved the kids room which had 6 bunkbeds, a private bath, and it’s own TV with gaming system. The kitchen and living room are on the third floor with magnificent views of the surrounding vegetation and gulf. As Jason was showing us around our luggage was delivered to our doorstep. We were ready to begin our a vacation. During our week on North Captiva, my family had many adventures: snorkeling for sand dollars and shells, watching dolphins play in the waves and osprey catch fish, kayaking with manatees, and spotting tortoises ambling along the roads. We spent hours walking on the shell covered beaches searching for shells, fishing from the shore, splashing in the pools, and relaxing in the hot tub and on the multiple decks. Access to North Captiva Island club is included with the house rental. With that comes pools, kayaks, tennis courts, more bikes, and a basketball hoop. During our week on the island, my kids were always busy and entertained. If you are looking to slow down the pace for awhile, North Captiva Island and Bluefin Beach House is the place for you. Sit back, relax, and let your stress melt away in the sand and surf of this tropical paradise."
