"[This review assumes you know Sanibel]
-- One short block from the beach; short ride on bike path to Schnapper's Hots; ~2 mi. to Pinocchio's Ice Cream and the lighthouse; 6 mi. to Ding Darling
-- Photos are accurate; notice the large propane grill on the deck
-- Stocked with beach furniture, coolers, towels, flashlight, all cooking tools, dish soap, laundry soap, salt/pepper, coffee filters, books, DVDs, etc... Pack light!
-- Good wi-fi and TVs
-- Very very clean
-- Comfortable beds and couch
-- [a minor one] Beware: There are 2 properties next door to each other called "Shell Basket 1" -- this pink one and a blue one (with a pool). If you get a delivery it may go to the wrong place (even if you tell Billy's Bikes the exact address, 1153 Nerita St.)
-- Shower faucet is odd and gives you choice of cool water or scalding (but cool is fine on sunburn!)
-- Manager is nearby but a bit hard to reach in advance for questions -- hopefully this review will answer some."

"We are typically a crazy busy family, who runs from one event to the next. My intention for this vacation was to do nothing except relax and that was accomplished! I am a family member of the owner and we only stayed for a week and without charge, but what a week that was! My kids did not want to leave, and I did not want to leave. My 2 younger kids went from playing on the beach to swimming in the pool. And my 18 year old daughter went from laying out on the beach to biking around on the trails to communicating with her friends back home on her iPad with the free WiFi. The house is just beautifully decorated and has everything you need for a great vacation, from beach towels to pool towels to a fully stocked kitchen. Everything was provided which made my son happy because he has smoothies everyday and the blender there works better than the one I have at home! We visited one of the public beaches just to explore but we were very happy to spend the remainder of the week at the beach just across the street for several reasons, no worries about finding a parking space, less crowded, no charge to park, and easy to run home if something was forgotten. The privacy afforded by the huge lot was very nice as well. The kids brought their soccer ball and were able to play outside and run around. Sanibel is an amazing place to visit and if you want to be comfortable there is no reason to stay anywhere else!"

"We had a great stay! Lorraine is easy to work with and everything was as described. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool, which was actually bigger than portrayed in the picture. The setting is beautiful, the walk to the beach is short (& made easier with the beach cart) and there are many extras provided in the house (beach towels, hair dryers, magazines/games, etc.). The house is also located close to bike paths and we used the bicycles provided. They are in need of a little TLC, but beyond that, everything was perfect! We enjoyed the local restaurants, the Sanibel Thriller and ice cream at Pinocchio's. We also loved the beach access at the end of the road, but enjoyed traveling to Blind Pass to watch the sunset and Bowman's beach to collect awesome shells! Sanibel Island is beautiful and this house made our stay even better! Thank you, Lorraine!"

"We rented Seaside Rendezvous for the month of July, and an assortment of friends and family stayed with us for various lengths of time throughout the month. Here are the major pluses we most appreciated: Quiet street in a residential area; directly across the street from public beach access; beach chairs, wagon, etc. provided; large home with lots of amenities; a pool; elevator (awesome feature, especially since one of us recently had ankle surgery); and a reasonable rate.
Things that detracted from our stay included: Very poor and/or confusing furniture placements in several of the rooms; disorganized cabinets, which made it very difficult to find things (for example: toys, games and videos were spread among at least five different cabinets); a level of cleanliness that was not quite up to par for what we expect in a top-notch rental; a lack of items in the home left by previous renters, such as cleaning supplies and food staples.
We spent nearly two full days deep cleaning, reorganizing things, and moving the furniture into more workable arrangements. Once we did these things our stay was relaxing and very enjoyable. All of the pieces are there for a five-star rental experience, just a little more attention to detail is needed. For example, when you stay someplace for a month, decent people are going to want to clean...the kitchen, the baths, etc. so we were a little surprised and flummoxed there were no cleaning supplies to be found in the home. I can understand the owners might not want to routinely supply these things, however I would think guests would buy certain items they would leave behind. That has been our experience in other vrbo rentals we have had, and as such, we generally contribute to the cause by buying replacements for anything we use up, or even a gadget we felt the home could use.
These seem like nit-picky things...but as I mentioned, this very good rental could be a five-star with little additional cost or effort."
