  • Hoping to return to this spot in paradise

"What a lovely place! This was our first time on Sanibel and it is our new favorite spot! This condo was exactly as pictured and the view was amazing. The porch was screened so we could leave our sliders open and sleep to the sounds of the ocean. We loved to wake up early and walk toward the sunrise and pick up shells. We rented bikes for the week and enjoyed exploring on bikes. The condo has bike racks for storage. The owners closet had chairs, boogie boards, and pool noodles, although I understand this can change. The kitchen was well equipped. The pool was nicer that it looked in the pictures. Pretty landscaping surrounds the pool. We loved the fact that, even though it was Easter week, we never felt like the pool was too busy. The second bedroom was pretty tight but our 3 youngest were happy there, especially because they had their own tv to watch movies! I really can't say enough good things about this property! My parents stayed at a different condo complex and paid the same for a much smaller 1 bedroom, so I think ours was a great value!"

  • Excellent vacation

"My family and I stayed at this condo and it was excellent! The location was perfect and the condo itself was excellent...well equipped! The only issue we had was the air conditioner had a few issues on two nights of our seven night stay but other than that, it was excellent! Will definitely stay at this condo again! Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with other families!"

  • Perfect setting to enjoy the Island!!

"Our family was looking for a place where we could come together and share the holiday's, and for some, the first time on a Florida beach. This place was perfect!! There were 6 of us (adults), so the condo was the perfect size, giving us plenty of room to rest and play. The location was amazing for viewing the beach, walking and shelling the beach, paddle boarding the gulf shore, as well as location to dining, shopping, grocery, and enjoying all the sights on the island. It was football bowl season, so we loved being able to enjoy the flat screen TVs for watching our favorite teams (Go Hogs!), and then heading to the sand and surf for other hours on end. Royal Shell staff was extremely friendly and helpful, making the processes for checking in and out, quick and easy. We were provided with all we needed when we arrived, as far as linens, towels, paper goods, kitchen staples and clean dishes/wares, and beach chairs. (Thanks for the Keurig coffee maker...we were hoping you would have one, as well as the blender :-) Also, thank goodness for the in-house washer/dryer that we made good use of from our comings and goings to the beach. The condo was located in a very quiet location of the property. We were thankful for there being stairs close by, but even more, an elevator that helped those of us who needed to sometimes ride. Being a corner condo, we loved the wrap-around lanai, all the seating and dining available out there. (We did have an issue with the sliding glass doors going out onto the lanai, but reported it to maintenance, they sent someone out immediately, and even though they were unable to fix it right then, we made do just fine.) The inside living area was very clean, pleasantly decorated, and furnished in a way that was comfortable for all of us, with chairs, tables, comfortable beds. The bathrooms/shower/ tubs were also very very clean. A couple of us have been coming to Sanibel for close to 25 years. This year, we wanted to share this beautiful island with family whom had never been before. This condo was perfect for doing that. We enjoyed each other and island life for a short time, but now have great memories to cherish. Given more chances to come back in the future, we will most definitely want to stay here again. All we needed other than what was provided for us at this wonderful beach home........ was a little more time!"

  • One of the Best Beach Condos We've Stayed In!

"We loved this condo! So well appointed and impeccably clean! We had a great stay in this lovely unit. The Sandalfoot complex is well maintained and so conveniently located too! If you want to stay in a condo that is total "beachy" this is the place for you! We highly recommend it!"

Sanibel Island Travel Tips

Just west of Fort Myers you'll find lovely Sanibel Island, known for its beautiful sunsets, welcoming beaches, outdoor spaces and peaceful tranquility.

Whether you're taking a family vacation for spring break, planning a romantic trip for two or craving an escape from the cold with friends, this Floridian island offers a great place to relax, collect seashells and explore the 12 miles of shores. Because of it's location and geographic orientation, it's acts like a scoop, gathering seashells onto its beaches, making Sanibel Island an excellent place to hunt for these unique treasures.

In addition to exciting outdoor attractions, the island offers a plethora of dining options, from laid-back beach eateries to restaurants specializing in, of course, seafood, to upscale spots for a nice night out. And when you're ready to hit the water, spend an afternoon boating or fishing to truly experience living like a local.

Things to Do on Sanibel Island

- Sanibel Island Lighthouse: One of the coolest places to check out during your trip is the Sanibel Island Lighthouse, which has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974. You'll find it situated on the eastern part of the island, and it was built to mark the entrance to San Carlos for ships coming into the port of Punta Rassa. While the lighthouse itself isn't open to the public, the grounds are and it's definitely worth the trip to see the keeper's quarters, catch dinner at the fishing pier or take advantage of the beach access. The lighthouse also makes for great photographs, so don't forget your camera!

- Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum: Sanibel Island is known as the spot to hunt for seashells, so a trip to the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum is a must during your getaway. The museum is named after two pioneer families that lived on the island and features the most comprehensive collection of shells in the U.S. Inside you'll see a variety of shells and mollusks, learn about the history of the area and their scientific and artistic importance. Some of the museum's exhibits include Early Sanibel Shell Collectors; Florida Fossil Shells,; Mollusks, Medicine, and Man and The Scallop, Queen of Conchology, among others.

- J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge: Animals lovers won't be disappointed with a visit the J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge, which was named for Jay Norwood Darling, a Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist and environmentalist. The refuge is home to more than 200 species of birds, more than 50 types of reptiles and 32 different kinds of mammals. If you're hoping to fit in some bird watching, the refuge is an exceptional spot to do so, or you can hit the paths for a bike ride or hike. If you want to paddle a canoe down a winding river path or take a four-mile scenic drive to see all of the natural beauty, like cabbage and sabal palms, red mangrove and a variety of other native plants.

- Sanibel Historical Museum and Village: You'll be transported back in time as you explore a collection of late 19th and early 20th century buildings, including Bailey's General Store, Miss Charlotta's Tea Room, Clarence Rutland's home, the 1926 post office, the island's original schoolhouse and more. Inside, all the buildings are outfitted with items from the early 1900s, and as you wander through the village, you'll see a pioneer garden, antique Model T truck and an old packinghouse replica complete with farm equipment.

Dining on Sanibel Island

- Mad Hatter: For a lovely romantic dinner for two, try Mad Hatter, where you'll find a wonderland of delicious cuisine. You'll be treated to stunning views as you dine on options like phyllo shrimp, black truffle sea scallops, Hudson Valley foie gras or grilled filet mignon. Chefs Kurt and Michelle Jarvis offer a cozy, welcoming atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy amazing flavors after a day filled with exploring. Save room for dessert like creme brulee or berry crepes, which you can experience as you watch the sunset.

- The Island Cow: if you want a more laid-back dining experience, head to The Island Cow, which opens for breakfast, so you can have a hearty meal before you start your day. It's also open for dinner when you can eat under the stars on the porch while you listen to live music. Try a po-boy sandwich, cold wildberry bisqueor seafood. You'll get a real feeling of island dining when you come to The Island Cow. There's plenty on the menu here, so you won't be disappointed!
