  • A beautiful condo and fabulous golfing community

"We rented this cono for 4 weeks in the fall (Oct/Nov). The setting is very tranquil and very quiet. During our stay we saw plenty of osprey and one very large American Eagle. We also saw alligators sunning themselves as we played golf. Speaking of golf; Heritage Oaks has a fabulous golf course. We enjoyed our stay so much we ended up purchasing our own condo. As new owners we look forward to spending many winters here. To get a taste of what it is like to be here, be sure to rent this condo. The owner was great to work with."

  • Happy on the Hudson Bayou

"This private rental was our best experience ever, after countless vacation rentals. It exceeded our expectations on all counts. The unit was equipped with everything that you could possibly need. It is possibly better equipped than your own home. It was also spotless; inside and out. The location is perfect for walking to everything, and kayaking every day. The layout provided perfect privacy for 2 couples. The unit faces south and the view is glorious all day long. The owners in the complex are delightful. (Shout out to Susan) There are just too many restaurants close by to recommend, such as Matto Matto - and Owen's Fish Camp, and everything on Main St. If you select this unit, you will never want to stay anywhere else!"

  • Winter Retreat

"My wife and I have stayed at this rental for the last two years, March 2012, and two weeks in April 2013. It is everything as stated in VRBO and more. The pictures and description are 100% accurate. We felt very comfortable in this home. The neighborhood is quiet. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bed was good and firm, the internet was there as well as the wide screen television. Our two dogs especially enjoyed the large, secure, fenced in yard that has an abundance of song birds and squirrels. We had bicycles and that really made getting to the beach very easy. The car traffic to Siesta Key during peak Spring time is huge. Bikes make the access much easier. We recommend bringing bikes or renting them when you arrive. They really expand the ease of getting to local restaurants and shopping. There are numerous terrific restaurants and groceries within a mile. We found the owner, Bill, to be a helpful and generous person. He has personal history of his family in that area of Florida, and he is very proud of his rental. He has prepared a book with helpful information regarding the house and local attractions. During both of our stays at his rental, he gave us some leeway on arrival and departure dates and times to accommodate our needs at no additional charge! We were very impressed. The local management company that coordinates all of the rental activity has a great manager, Kate. She is terrific in answering any and all questions. When one looks at websites of potential rentals with great descriptions and beautiful pictures, there is always a doubt whether everything is accurate. If you are lucky enough to be able to rent this house, rest assured that it is everything it says it is. We heartily recommend this rental."

  • Stellar

"Where do we begin!! If you are looking for a immaculate, charming, safe, beautiful vacation rental with every amenity you could possibly imagine then this is the place for you. They even provide you with beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas and Beach toys!! Our favorite part of this bungalow was the enclosed porch. Great for sitting outside in the evening with a glass of wine or morning cup of coffee without bugs to interrupt you. The decor is posh and well ... we didn't want to leave! We just spent the week of Spring break with our six-year-old daughter in Sarasota and had no idea what a lovely town it is and how much there is to do. You are 10 minutes from the beach, great restaurants, the harbor and great shopping. We are already looking at our calendar and cannot wait to go back!"

Sarasota Travel Tips

Sarasota offers visitors an excellent array of cultural attractions, dining experiences and outdoor activities.

Of course, while visiting Sarasota you'll want to spend ample time on the sandy shores getting that perfect tan, catching up on reading, cooling off in the bright blue waters and building the world's greatest sand castle, and there's plenty of space on the beaches to do all that and more during your vacation.

When you're ready to head inland, a variety of local restaurants await you to fill you with delicious flavors - especially fresh seafood - and provide you with a delightful night out. You can also spend time learning about the history and culture of this Floridian city as you explore the architecture, museums and even the circus.

Things to Do in Sarasota

- The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art: If you've been a long-time fan of the circus, art and the Ringling Brothers, visiting the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art and the Circus Museum are musts on the Sarasota to-do list. The Museum of Art boasts 21 galleries featuring paintings from Europe, contemporary art from Asia and America and Cypriot antiquities. There's currently more than 10,000 works in the collection in mediums such as painting, photography, sculpture, drawings and decorative arts. Some of the most treasured masterpieces are from Peter Paul Ruben, Marcel Duchamp, Rosa Bonheur, Benedetto Pagni, Joseph Wright of Derby and more. And if you love the magic of stepping into the big tent, be sure to also swing by the Circus Museum, where you'll find performing props, wardrobes and equipment like parade wagons and a person-shooting cannon. You'll also see a variety of 19th and 20th century posters and learn all about the history of "the greatest show on earth."

- Sarasota Jungle Gardens: Nature and animals lovers will certainly appreciate the Sarasota Jungle Gardens, which is one of the oldest continuously run attractions in Florida. Here you'll find more than 150 animals, both native and exotic, including parrots, birds of prey, primates, snakes, alligators, small mammals and flamingos - a huge draw here - throughout the 10 acres of tropical landscaping. The recently installed Flamingo Cam offers 24-hour viewing access to the flock of pink birds.

- Ca' d'zan Mansion: This amazing house is A 56-room Venetian Gothic-inspired structure that was formerly the Ringling family's home. The mansion covers 36,000 square feet and stands five stories tall. Take a guided tour of the palace and you'll feel like a personal guest of the Ringling family as you hear stories and information about them as well as the home itself.

- Siesta Beach: For eight miles you'll experience the city's gateway to the Gulf of Mexico. Locals and visitors alike enjoy the laid-back, relaxed vibe, calm waters of the Gulf and the unbeatable sunshine.

Dining in Sarasota

- Captain Curt's Crab and Oyster Bar: Being so close to the ocean, fresh seafood is sure to be delicious in Sarasota, and you can find tasty options at Captain Curt's Crab and Oyster Bar.
