"We've come to the area for 20 years to visit my parents, and this was the first year we needed to find a place to stay. We feel like we hit the jackpot at a luxury hotel! The condo was gorgeous and the owners had everything you could think of from Wi-Fi, PC, printer, games, beach toys, puzzles, tools and even Christmas lights which we promptly put up as we spent the holiday there. The fireworks on New Years went on for hours up and down the beach and many exploded right at eye level from the lanai directly in front of the condo. It was a New Years the kids will never forget. I loved getting up early each morning to take long walks on the beach and came home with a treasure full of sea shells much more wonderful and varied than in all the years of my visiting Siesta Key and Venice Beaches. The kids got to see tons of live conchs, live starfish, live sand dollars, live sea urchins, and even a small ray. The water was a bit chilly, but we still swam and went hunting for sharks teeth at Manasota Beach which yielded us more teeth than Sharky's Beach, but Manasota lacks the facilities and ambience of Sharky's.
Although Siesta Key is our favorite beach with the finest talcum powder-like sand, it was the condo that made this vacation so wonderful. We were able to bring my mom, who has trouble walking, from her nearby retirement home to spend some real quality time with the family. We spent hours on the HUGE lanai playing cards, looking at sea shells, watching the sun set, and enjoying seafood and wine with an amazing view. She came down to the pool area and could sit on the patio at the edge of the beach and watch and talk as we played soccer and Frisbee on the beach. It was truly priceless.
The owners are wonderful, helpful, very accommodating and treat you like family. They have two journals in the condo that the guests write in. Be sure to read them as there are LOADS of suggestions and reviews of local places. Our favorites include Yoder's (incredible amish restaurant with long lines - even at 4:00, but the large portions of food and homemade pies are worth the wait), Captain Curt's, Miguel's, and Sharky's."
