  • Incredible, nothing more to say

"We had the best time in this beach front home. The house was very comfortable for our family. Lots of room to spread out, but we tended to congregate on the porch overlooking the beach. The house is as described. Three bedrooms on the upper floor. (You have to be able to walk up a full flight of stairs in order to get to the living space) Incredible views of the water from the kitchen, front room, and master bedroom. It was in a great location near stores and restaurants that you could walk to and just a short drive to all the other places on the island. There is a free trolley that you can ride that takes you from one end to the other. It really helped that there was a washer/dryer in the unit. I looked up other rentals on the island and actually went to look to see where they were, as we are planning on returning. Based on the price and location, I couldn't find another one that offered as much as this unit, even if you removed the pet friendly filter. Laura, the owner, was very helpful and quick to return calls and emails. When we needed another light bulb because one burned out, it was there the next morning. The refund check was sent back quickly also. The owner let us have our dog at the house, which was great. Although, the island itself is not really dog friendly. You are not allowed to have your dog on the beach; however, we kept her on the beach right by the house and didn't have any problems. Plus, there is a beach on the causeway that you can have dogs. One thing I didn't understand from the pictures is how you got to the beach from the house. There is a staircase that goes from the porch down the side of the house and then you walk under the porch. This is a nice area where you can be right by the water but not in the sun. Then there are three stairs to the sand. My daughter loved laying out on the beach. The only thing I could even think of that might improve the rental is to have twins beds in one of the bedrooms. Regardless, we were 110% satisfied with our stay and are planning on returning. Thank you, Laura."

  • Beach Person's Paradise

"My wife and I recently stayed at Coquina cottage for a week. The cottage is truly that, a beach cottage with a few quirks to get use to. First of all it is what it is, you are staying here for the beach and the sunsets not the cottage. The stairs to the bottom floor is outside so it did take a day to get use to it. The real kitchen is downstairs while the better living space is upstairs with the great view of the water. The cottage was clean enough, again you are in a beach cottage! You are there for the great beach and the beautiful sunsets. We had one small problem and the owner immediately took care of it. We enjoyed the beach and sunsets so much we only went out once (late) for a burger. We stocked up at Bailey's with food and never wanted to go anywhere. We did rent bikes and it was well worth it. Great bike trails in the area and the weather was perfect. A couple of words of advice, the sand gnats are everywhere and aggressive. Bring lots of bug spray and you will be ok. Stock up on food so you don't miss the sunsets, Baily's has great shrimp which they will steam up for you. We enjoyed them a few nights while watching the sunset. Before you book make sure you realize it is a cottage on a beautiful beach, not the Ritz. It is what it is and you are there for the beach. If you love the beach and water like we do, you will love this place."

  • Daisy Cottage - perfect Captiva location

"Quaint older Captiva cottage seconds from beach down a wooded path. Large spacious backyard. A bit tired decor but clean and comfortable. Able to walk to Mucky Duck and other restaurants. We traded the hustle and bustle of Sanibel for quiet sunsets on beach with a glass of wine."

  • Location Location Location

"You can't beat the location. Capt Curt's, a grocery store, ice cream, post office, and pharmacy are all just across the street from Sea Shell. You wouldn't have to get back in your car until your vacation was over, that is if you wanted to be a total beach bum. Sarasota is a very easy city to get around in. If you get tired of seafood, I would highly recommend the Schnitzel Kitchen, the best German food I've had in 26 years. The unit was very clean and comfortable and we would stay there again without hesitation. Just be aware that the owners have control of the thermostat, and it would not go below 72, which is fine for just lounging around the unit, but not for sleeping if you are accustomed to 69 or below. I made to mistake of tossing and turning the first couple of night's, before contacting Ricardo. He responded within a matter of minutes and the rest of my night's were very pleasant. Siesta Key is like going to a tropical island without spending a lot of money!!"
