Coastal Travel Tips

Coastal Georgia is characterized by the local savannahs, wiregrass, dunes and rivers which end their journey in the Atlantic Ocean. With delightful towns, barrier islands, history, culture, and the arts, a vacation in Coastal Georgia is bound to offer total relaxation and pleasure. Offering great scenic drives through small communities, visitors can discover a host of places to explore, each with their own character. The area has some excellent dining options with something to suit all budgets and tastes.

Three Great Reasons to Choose Coastal Georgia Vacation Rentals

Renting a furnished apartment or vacation rental for the first time may be a little strange but once experienced, most visitors are hooked for life. Economically, vacation homes make good sense, especially if there are more than two in the party. You can share a vacation home with family and friends, and the savings compared with a hotel room are considerable, particularly out of peak season. Another advantage is flexibility. You can sleep in; eat what you like when you like and even as a family, you can each do your own thing. With separate rooms and multiple TVs, you can stay home if you want to and go to bed at different times, unlike sharing a room in a hotel. Finally, vacation rentals are always well equipped. Whether you want a dishwasher or microwave, hot tub or just a comfortable sofa to curl up on, a vacation rental will exceed all your expectations.

Coastal Georgia Rental Homes Suit all Ages!

The endless beaches which grace the area around Tybee Island vacation rentals and St Simon’s are perfect for family vacations, with plenty to see and do. The resorts are fairly quiet and some areas off-the-beaten track are perfect retreats for those who want a quiet vacation walking, fishing and enjoying Georgia’s natural beauty and wildlife. Spring and fall are the perfect seasons for older couples to take advantage of the pleasant weather and off-peak prices. Those looking for a romantic break will also enjoy this idyllic area.

Things to see and do Around Coastal Georgia

The Georgia coastline offers deserted beaches for walking, paved tracks and quiet roads for cycling, rivers for fishing, canoeing and kayaking, charming museums and historic architecture. It is a nature-lover’s paradise, especially for spotting coastal birds. Tennis, golf, boating and numerous watersports can all be enjoyed here. In short, you can be as active or as idle as you want to be.

The most popular towns along Coastal Georgia include Brunswick, St Simon’s Island, Jekyll Island with its historic district centered on the Jekyll Island Club Hotel, St Mary’s and Darien.

Savannah was the first state capital of Georgia and consequently has a fine inheritance of colonial architecture. The delightful historical district seems to have more than its share of historic homes and churches, set around elegant tree-shaded squares. A guided walk of this city will reward visitors with a host of interesting sights and snippets of information from the knowledgeable local guides.

In contrast, St Simon’s Island lodging on the Golden Isles offers excellent beaches, golf courses, fishing and excellent restaurants. Whether you want to relax at a local spa, play a round of golf, or cycle along the paved trails, the area is a wonderful place to enjoy a rental home. The island has a historic lighthouse and if you climb the 129 steps to the top, you can enjoy spectacular sea and island views. The charming town of Brunswick has some fine historic buildings too. Tour the antebellum home on the Hofwyl Broadfield Plantation and learn about how rice was grown here in the early 19th century.
