  • Magical

""Spirit of the River" cabin is one of the most magical places I have ever been. You can feel the magic when you arrive at the cabin. Everyone in our group says the same thing and that is why we book in advance at least twice a year for a nice long stay. There is a place for everyone to hang out. There are porches everywhere, cozy spots everywhere, and a beautiful river flowing around the entire property. The view of the river is surreal and at night in the jacuzzi it is so beautiful to see. The home is equipped with everything we need in the kitchen to bake, grill, or fry anything we want. The bedrooms are so warm and cozy and always have soft sheets to snuggle in. There are spare blankets all around, games, DVD's to watch, pool to play, firewood to burn. I've never noticed anything soiled or broken in the cabin. You can tell that the owners love their place. I am just so happy that they are willing to open it up to us each year. If we forget anything there is a Walmart very close. Actually the whole of Dahlonega is very close. We usually arrive and enjoy the place for a couple of days and then I will see a few here or there venture to town for an outing or something. We all sort of come and go through tour weeks stay and that is so perfect for us. When my dad comes with us he refuses to leave for any reason. He can't get enough of the place. Every year my family will begin making calls to me to make sure I have booked our stay because we all look forward to getting rejuvenated by some good ole river "spirit"."

  • most amazing weekend of my life

"We arrived Halloween night for a friend´s wedding weekend and used the written directions to find the house. We turned around a couple times because we couldn't see the house number in the dark, but it is the last house on the right down the very steep driveway. It was beyond beautiful. Everything was very clean. We had the privilege of staying the master suite which was enormous. It has a walk in closet, a huge bathroom with tons of mirrors, a jet tub, and the most incredible shower you`ll ever have. It overlooks the river and the fall foliage was beautiful. there is a bon fire area which is great and a tree house hot tub a short walk away. It was very peaceful and relaxing. We had a shortage of towels but we should have brought some of our own. It was difficult to maneuver in and out of the driveway with multiple cars because the turn around area near the house is a bit small. We figured it out though. It would have been convenient to have more than 2 keys as well because we had more than one group in and out of the house all weekend. But seriously none of that was even a problem because the house was so awesome. I would absolutely love to stay here again. Can I go this weekend? :-) We loved walking around downtown Dahlonega enjoying the restaurants and shops. I will be day dreaming and raving about this place for years."

  • Lots of space and incredible river access!

"We were in Dahlonega house hunting and stayed at the house with my seven year old son and in-laws. The spacious decks and beautiful river views and sound were fantastic! I loved having my coffee on the deck with "Jed" every morning while everyone else was still sleeping. There were turkeys and woodpeckers in abundance, and though we didn't see any bears, there were tracks by the river when we went gold panning. We didn't strike it rich this time, but I'm hooked anyway - and it was great that the cabin had several gold pans, a shovel, and even a fishing pole handy on the back porch for our use! The house was clean and spacious, with a fully appointed kitchen that had everything we need to make our meals. The wifi was FANTASTIC. I've stayed at other places where it was really slow, and this was lightening fast if that's a concern. The driveway is a little intimidating the first time, but after that it was a breeze. Loved the keyless entry with the code as I didn't have to worry about getting locked out accidentally. This was a fantastic place and very reasonably priced! Definitely recommend!"

  • Heaven's Window is exactly what it is!

"We stayed here over memorial weekend and it was a wonderful weekend! The cabin was beautifully built. As excited as we were to stay there after seeing the pictures we were even more excited for what we saw in person! The view of the river from the large wrap around porch was amazing. My boyfriend and I, and my sister and her boyfriend spent the evenings grilling out, fishing in the river, playing cards and board games, and relaxing in the hot tub. The first day we were there we planned to go hiking but realized a lot of trails nearby with waterfalls did not allow swimming so we called John for suggestions on what to do. He was very helpful! He suggested that we go get tubes (5-10 dollars at Walmart) and float down the river from a bridge not far away right to the bank of the river in front of the cabin. It was a blast! It was about a mile drive from the house to the bridge and about a two hour float down the river. We only saw two other people fishing on the river the whole ride down and the river flows at an easy pace so it’s really enjoyable and easy to stop along the river when we felt like it. The last day we were there it was just me and my boyfriend, who loves to fish, so we packed a cooler, some towels and our fishing gear and walked to the middle of the river to get some sun and fish on the large rocks that are out there. Right behind the rocks was where we found the best fishing spot. You could see the fish as they went after the lure. There were a lot of them, but they were pretty small so we let them all go. I would highly suggest this cabin for a relaxing yet adventurous getaway! I hope to find another weekend soon to head back up!"
