"What a wonderfully place to snuggle down and relax. Lots of things to do or do nothing. Charming places to eat. Friendly Folk everywhere. Don't miss the well versed ladies at the Information Office "they really tell you where to go". Sitting on the screened porch, you can feel the calmness surround you and the view is unbelievable. The house is charming. Clean, comfortable beds and has everything you need except food and a cook! I know that I will return"

What a Gem of a find, killer Lake Chatuge Views and very clean.
"My husband and I just stayed at the "Dogwood Den" to celebrate my 60th Birthday. This place was great! Ruth & Glenn are THE best hosts. The cottage is built over a large Garage and was very clean, very well stocked with all you would need as they thought of everything..It has AWESOME views of Lake Chatuge, so relaxing, peaceful and calm. It has great level parking both down by the Garage area (plus a covered area which is great for motorcycles, etc.) and up by the main living area which is all on one level. There is level parking right alongside the deck leading to the cottage, so NO Stairs on that main level for loading, unloading and parking. We took our 2 small dogs with us and it was so great to find a place that is pet friendly and does not charge an arm and a leg for Pet Fees and cleaning fees. Their rates are very reasonable for what they offer and they are close by if you need anything at all. Ruth even came over and gave us some great cherry pie for my Birthday! We had such a relaxing weekend, yet we were minutes away from some great places to eat...The Chop House in Hiawassee was awesome. Brasstown Bald, you have to have their Sunday Breakfast or Brunch. Their scallops are fantastic. The marina in close by, other great places to shop and eat or just cook out on their grill or in the fully stocked kitchen. They have a large deck with picnic table, chairs, etc. so you can eat there and enjoy the views!
The cottage has 2 good size bedrooms, hardwood floors throughout. The bathroom is good size with a nice large counter top area, drawers, etc (for all the girl things that you need space for). Single Vanity and Shower. Tile floor. The bed was comfortable as were the pillows. The living room has a FULL size comfy couch so any of you tall boys can lay out on that couch and not have your legs hanging over. My husband had a few good naps there. Plus they have a nice Lazy Boy Recliner and another very comfortable rocker chair with ottoman where I sat. The kitchen has ALOT of counter space and the dinette area is good size too. The cottage is a very open floor plan, lots of natural light. We loved it!
You have access to the lake across the street too if you want to get in for swimming or put in a Kayak or canoe, etc.
I even purchased a pair of hand made earrings and necklace from our host Ruth who makes them!
Cannot say enough about our Find in Hiawassee at the Dogwood Den. Thanks Ruth and Glenn, we WILL return."

"We used this Cabin as a getaway while our daughter was at camp nearby. The views are amazing and while it has the look and feel of seclusion and privacy it was very easy and quick to get to Hiawassee as well as explore nearby hiking trails. We spent every sunrise and sunset out on the porch and had a very relaxing time by the fireplace. Judy was a great hostess and we will be sure to come back again!"

"Our family was able to share a wonderful 4 night stay together here in this beautiful cabin and the town of Dahlonega. We got to play a very long game of Monopoly by the fireplace, while taking in the gorgeous view of the river from the living room. Our favorite place to have coffee was the balcony in the morning, so relaxing. But the most relaxing place on the property has the huge hot tub, with an amazing view of the river. Our recommendations is to leave the sliding glass door open at night, in the master bedroom, it will put you to sleep quickly, no need for a tv in there. (There is a screen on the door, in case you were concerned about bugs). Of course, we have to mention the driveway. Personally I loved it! My wife, not so much. The rest of the family nearly had a heart attack as we arrived at night and wasn't sure we were in the right place. So if you are in this predicament, you are on the right road, don't worry just keep going. We were very grateful that Richard, a neighbor up the street, reassured us that we were headed in the right direction and to hang on for the ride of our lives! Thank you again for allowing us the stay in your amazing cabin by the river. We will be back! So if you are up for a little bit of adventure and a whole lot of relaxing in nature with complete privacy, this is the cabin for you. Enjoy the adventure- The Mathers and Kratofil Families
P.S. Thank you, John and Richard for fixing the flood lights outside so fast. If really made a diffence."
