"We had a wonderful Thanksgiving getaway with our teenagers. The kitchen was fully stocked to make an amazing Thanksgiving feast. We loved the wood burning fireplace and played games by it. The beds were very comfy as well. Friday we drove to Greenville and shopped and ate an amazing lunch at Smoke on the Water. Highly recommend this restaurant. Mark, thanks for sharing your slice of heaven right on the lake with us. Maggie and Boogie (our pugs) had a ball too!!! Such a cozy, beautiful home, right on the water!"

  • Great property for a retreat

"This property was booked for the purpose of a small church men's group retreat for 4 days, 3 nights. Upon arrival, the property looked just like the pictures posted on this site. Everything in the house matched our needs specifically like it was built just for us. The lake is visible from the house deck and the lake is only a 2 minute walk (if that) from the back of the house. From the main road it only took about 10 to 15 minutes to reach the property, which is not bad for a lake property. The property is close to other houses which is a comfort if you don't like seclusion, but the houses are not too close to one another that you disturb people in the other property. The men enjoyed the leather sofa, which was extremely comfortable as were all the furniture pieces. The jacuzzi tub and shower were nice and having a laundry room was a nice plus. Having DirecTV on a Saturday afternoon and evening during college football season was great! Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves and I am very please with the quality of the house and property and the responsiveness of the owner. I don't think any of us could have asked for me in our first men's retreat adventure. Now we have something to brag to the women's ministry about, lol. Thanks and I hope to do it again!"

  • What a find for a crowd!

"There's nothing like this place for a relaxing annual family reunion. We went with four families including 7 kids between 15 and 21- most said it was our best vacation ever. And this is a crowd that prefers beach vacations (NC Outer Banks). The house is like a luxury hotel but on a quiet finger of a huge lake. We swam across "finger" to state park - nice hiking there. Boathouse has canoe and commercial-grade 4-seat paddle boat. We rented a 28' pontoon boat for a day to explore Lake Hartwell. Explored several islands. Basked on beaches with fish coming right up to us... But back to the house: grounds are beautiful. We fished, had campfires on lakeshore twice under fantastic star canopy. House has high-end finishes and appliances (maybe a little too high-tech - better instructions for the cooktop would help), huge bedrooms, nice baths. Dining area seats 16 not counting additional seating at the adjacent kitchen bar. Two attic dorms are great for kids, and though they don't have doors, acoustics weren't a problem - the walls and doors to the other bedrooms are very soundproof. That said, living room was so big that it was sometimes hard to hear. We joked that it must have been built by the inventor of Windex due to all the glass. Terrific huge screened porch, several decks (with grille) for readings, conversation. We got a lot of use from separate screened hot tub room with piped-in music. Impressive tree swing at edge of lake. The posted photos don't do it justice - I sent Steve (owner) a few more to add to website. Not many other young adults in the area meant we spent more time with each other - a blessing in disguise. Steve was great. When he was away, he had his very nice neighbor stop by to see if we needed anything. My only hesitation in recommending it for families with small kids is the water being so close - just keep an eye on them. "Downtown Café" in Lavonia was excellent. Very much enjoyed visit to Greenville for a day - excellent restaurants, nice (if small) downtown, wonderful downtown waterfalls and park. We never got to Anderson. Overall, we were just too busy enjoying the property and the week just flew by - before we knew it, the it was time to leave, but filled with lots of photos and great memories."

  • Great lake weekend!

"This is a great house for families and the owner is wonderful to work with. The outdoor set up with covered deck, fire pit, covered dock, paddleboat and much more was great! It was a great weekend with family and grandkids. Lake was down this late in the year but didn't keep us off the water!! Highly recommend this cabin. Inside renovation was great!"
