  • What a find for a crowd!

"There's nothing like this place for a relaxing annual family reunion. We went with four families including 7 kids between 15 and 21- most said it was our best vacation ever. And this is a crowd that prefers beach vacations (NC Outer Banks). The house is like a luxury hotel but on a quiet finger of a huge lake. We swam across "finger" to state park - nice hiking there. Boathouse has canoe and commercial-grade 4-seat paddle boat. We rented a 28' pontoon boat for a day to explore Lake Hartwell. Explored several islands. Basked on beaches with fish coming right up to us... But back to the house: grounds are beautiful. We fished, had campfires on lakeshore twice under fantastic star canopy. House has high-end finishes and appliances (maybe a little too high-tech - better instructions for the cooktop would help), huge bedrooms, nice baths. Dining area seats 16 not counting additional seating at the adjacent kitchen bar. Two attic dorms are great for kids, and though they don't have doors, acoustics weren't a problem - the walls and doors to the other bedrooms are very soundproof. That said, living room was so big that it was sometimes hard to hear. We joked that it must have been built by the inventor of Windex due to all the glass. Terrific huge screened porch, several decks (with grille) for readings, conversation. We got a lot of use from separate screened hot tub room with piped-in music. Impressive tree swing at edge of lake. The posted photos don't do it justice - I sent Steve (owner) a few more to add to website. Not many other young adults in the area meant we spent more time with each other - a blessing in disguise. Steve was great. When he was away, he had his very nice neighbor stop by to see if we needed anything. My only hesitation in recommending it for families with small kids is the water being so close - just keep an eye on them. "Downtown Café" in Lavonia was excellent. Very much enjoyed visit to Greenville for a day - excellent restaurants, nice (if small) downtown, wonderful downtown waterfalls and park. We never got to Anderson. Overall, we were just too busy enjoying the property and the week just flew by - before we knew it, the it was time to leave, but filled with lots of photos and great memories."

  • Perfect getaway property with all the luxuries of home with an amazing view of the lake!

"I have traveled quite a bit prior to having kids and have worked for hotels and resorts so I am very familiar with excellent service and upscale comfort as a traveler. You expect a certain level of accommodation that you are comfortable and familiar with everywhere you stay. I must say this house met all my dynamic diva expectations and more! The kitchen was my favorite part of the house because we had 5 adults that love to cook and this spacious kitchen was equip with the all the Kitchen Aid ware we needed to make fantastic meals and not run into each other :) The deck was the kids favorite part of the house because the view is spectacular and the comfy chairs to seat and relax were very nice to read on and play board games. My husband and I had the privilege of picking our bedroom so we decided on the main master downstairs. We chose well because the huge shower and splendid bathtub was perfect for the 2 of us. Its not often that a 6"3 man fits comfortably in a tub but he did and we felt like we were in a spa! The listing describing the accuracy of the amenities is written very humbly compared to actually experiencing the gorgeous house. Also, I need to mention that the pics do not do the grandeur of the property justice. Jeff, you need to hire a good photographer :) The only suggestion I have is please let guests be aware of the many ant hills all over the outdoor/park area that kids can easily step on. We had a few tears from bites regarding that issue but it was minor. The property was very clean and well maintained and the owners were very flexible to work with and communication was clear and constant. Excellent weekend, excellent accommodations, good price and Yes, if I am ever in the area again, I will certainly rent this house again."

  • Great Lake House!

"We stayed at this lake house for Labor Day Weekend. We had an absolutely wonderful time. The house slept 8 adults comfortably. It is larger than it looks from the pictures. The back deck is huge with lots of seating and it is just a short walk down to the lake. My husband brought his boat to the dock, and access to the boat ramp from the house was simple. The house is located in the back of a fairly deep, quiet cove. There was plenty of room for parking and it wasnt too far from town. The owner, Bud, was very helpful. We will definitely be staying in this house again. Thanks for sharing your home!"

  • Family Vacation

"We just returned from a week long stay at this lake house. My wife and I brought our two boys and invited my parents up from Florida. We loved sitting on the back porch at night just talking and my boys loved swimming in the cove and feeding the fish. Great property for our two dogs who loved seeing all the deer. We brought our boat and with the state park just down the road, there is easy in and out access. We didn't realize it was a bit of a walk to the lake but the wood path made this much easier and we needed the exercise anyway! Now I just need to convince my wife we need a lake house near us."
