  • Perfect

"My son and I were brainstorming on what to do the weekend my wife was hosting a baby shower for his first born. We decided a “Boys Weekend” on a lake somewhere was the ticket. Since we are not very good planners, the day before we were to depart we started looking. As faith would have it, the Lone Star Cabin was available! I contacted Megan and we were in! The Dogs too! Joe and I (and Abel and Elvis) got to the cabin and we were greeted with warmth and peace and quiet! The Cabin is comfortable and very well maintained. We enjoyed the fishing on the dock and some great walks. There is nothing bad to say about this place. A short drive from ATL and we felt as if we were the only ones there. The Lone star house will hold a special place in my heart as I was able to spend the time with my son as he awaits the arrival of first child in August! Thanks Megan for the life long memory! Dave and Joe Abel and Elvis too!"

  • Great cabin in the woods on a lake!

"We just returned from our trip at this cute and comfy cabin at Lake Hartwell. I have used VRBO several times to rent a home in various areas of the U.S. & I always seek out homes that have good reviews & the owners are accessible to communicate with. Stephanie has been fantastic to deal with, great communication. The cabin is clean, which is a top priority for me. :) FANTASTIC location on the water. Quiet cove with no one across the lake, just woods. Serene atmosphere. GREAT place to be able to swim and not worry about water craft. We were there over 4th of July, so there are a few homes towards the entrance of the cove with people hanging out but far enough away that it didn't disturb us at all. On the dock, a 2-3 person kayak is there for your use, which is fantastic to be able to access the lake. Just outside of the entrance of the cove, you can access the large part of the lake which is great. The house has a roomy screen porch so you can enjoy being outside without the mosquitoes once the sun goes down. You can't really tell from the pictures, but the kitchen and dining area is huge. LOTS OF ROOM. Larger than we thought before we got there!! There are 4 sliding glass doors that access the screen porch and open deck area from the main dining/kitchen area and the living room, so the entire back of the home has views to the back yard. Very natural woodsy setting in the back yard down to the lake. Just an FYI, if you would like to venture out, the town of Hartwell has an Ingles Food Market within 15-20 minutes away. Definitely, Google the area prior to coming so you know where to go for shopping, gas, etc., As far as restaurants in Hartwell, not really much of anything. Some quick fast food things, a chicken and wings place, but if you are looking for shopping, Outback Restaurant, etc., from what we found, we headed across the lake into Anderson, South Carolina, near Clemson, about a 35-40 minute ride. There may be options in Lavonia?, but we didn't look into it. Another nice thing is that this cabin is within an hours drive to the mountains. We ventured to Tallulah Gorge State Park to hike, where we were able to cross the gorge and view different waterfalls. If you google, there are several places in the mountains to hike, see waterfalls in different areas, and go tubing. Georgia and South Carolina both have options. Thank you to Stephanie for the comfortable, clean accommodations and sharing your home with us. We really enjoyed our stay."

  • Thanksgiving Week 2013

"We had a great family & friend gathering for the entire holiday week. Our age range was 74 to 18 and everyone loved it. The kitchen is well equipped and perfectly laid out. The open design allows the cooks to be constantly part of the fun. The bedrooms are nicely organized. Plenty of towels. The deck areas are both great. Very quiet neighborhood. Loved the proximity to city of Hartwell and grocery. Owner was very responsive to additional questions in advance and while on-site had a TV ? and they called immediately. Very cool spot -- we'll be back!"

  • Long Weekend at the lake

"The lake house was better than advertised. The owners keep it immaculate. The kitchen and living area is well laid out and comfortable. My family thoroughly enjoyed spending the long week end relaxing inside and outside of this home. The covered dock is a perfect place to enjoy an early morning cup of coffee while watching fish jump out of the water. A State park is close by and shopping is only about a 15 minute drive away."
