  • Great lake weekend!

"This is a great house for families and the owner is wonderful to work with. The outdoor set up with covered deck, fire pit, covered dock, paddleboat and much more was great! It was a great weekend with family and grandkids. Lake was down this late in the year but didn't keep us off the water!! Highly recommend this cabin. Inside renovation was great!"

  • What a find for a crowd!

"There's nothing like this place for a relaxing annual family reunion. We went with four families including 7 kids between 15 and 21- most said it was our best vacation ever. And this is a crowd that prefers beach vacations (NC Outer Banks). The house is like a luxury hotel but on a quiet finger of a huge lake. We swam across "finger" to state park - nice hiking there. Boathouse has canoe and commercial-grade 4-seat paddle boat. We rented a 28' pontoon boat for a day to explore Lake Hartwell. Explored several islands. Basked on beaches with fish coming right up to us... But back to the house: grounds are beautiful. We fished, had campfires on lakeshore twice under fantastic star canopy. House has high-end finishes and appliances (maybe a little too high-tech - better instructions for the cooktop would help), huge bedrooms, nice baths. Dining area seats 16 not counting additional seating at the adjacent kitchen bar. Two attic dorms are great for kids, and though they don't have doors, acoustics weren't a problem - the walls and doors to the other bedrooms are very soundproof. That said, living room was so big that it was sometimes hard to hear. We joked that it must have been built by the inventor of Windex due to all the glass. Terrific huge screened porch, several decks (with grille) for readings, conversation. We got a lot of use from separate screened hot tub room with piped-in music. Impressive tree swing at edge of lake. The posted photos don't do it justice - I sent Steve (owner) a few more to add to website. Not many other young adults in the area meant we spent more time with each other - a blessing in disguise. Steve was great. When he was away, he had his very nice neighbor stop by to see if we needed anything. My only hesitation in recommending it for families with small kids is the water being so close - just keep an eye on them. "Downtown Café" in Lavonia was excellent. Very much enjoyed visit to Greenville for a day - excellent restaurants, nice (if small) downtown, wonderful downtown waterfalls and park. We never got to Anderson. Overall, we were just too busy enjoying the property and the week just flew by - before we knew it, the it was time to leave, but filled with lots of photos and great memories."

  • So Peaceful and Spacious

"We did a last minute trip and thankfully the owners had an open slot for us! The directions they gave were perfect and we had no issues finding the place, despite our confusion going in the neighbors driveway (it was very late!). We loved how clean the place was and the furnishings were well kept. The beds were very comfortable and plenty of blankets/linens. The water pressure is a little low but we expect that in these more rural places. Everything was stocked and the house was relaxing. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and looking out at the water. My personal issue was the neighbors were a little close and I prefer a more secluded location but we barely heard them. It would have been nice to have screens on the windows because the temperatures were beautiful while we were there and the fresh air would have been nice. Overall I highly recommend the property and I am sure it would be great for families since there is so much space."

  • Family Vacation fun

"This was our second year at this home....GREAT location on the Lake and easy access from the house to the dock, especially for small children. Improvements on the screen porch were GREAT...we sat on the porch every day. Our main concern this year was the state of the dock, it was very dirty and full of spiders. My husband actually spent one day scrubbing the dock which made a huge difference. Every morning we cleaned the spider webs and we couldn't sit on the dock in the early evening b/c it was over run with spiders. Our other concern is the attention to detail the cleaning people have, there wasn't a shower curtain liner in the bathroom and the shower curtain smelled like mildrew. There were webs in the bathroom and the sunroom, some light bulbs were out. Even with these issues, we did have a great time...we may rent again next year."
