"Our family had a wonderful week at lake burton in this beautiful home. Love the yard. Kitchen lacks supplies for cooking- needs some more pots/pans/baking dishes etc. Upstairs bedroom great for kids."

Wonderful Place! Cozy, Comfy, Quiet and Near All Our Destinations.
"The cabin is clean, stocked with everything you could possibly need, and the décor is charming throughout. Quiet, comfy and cozy. Every direction you drive from here is beautiful. On our first full day we drove west to GA 348 and did a 2 mi. mountain hike on the Appalachian Trail http://bit.ly/1JeZaDj, then to Anna Ruby Falls, then walking and dinner in Helen at Bigg Daddys. On our second day we drove east and hiked Tallulah Gorge. Driving back we went thru the community of Lakemont and wound around the east side of Lake Rabun and what a surprise and treat! Beautiful lake vistas and adorable homes hugging the hill sides. The Mark of the Potter is just down the road from the cabin, directly on the Soquee River. It is worth a visit for the many area attraction brochures they have at the front counter, not to mention the quaint ceramics. And for .25 cents you can feed the trout from their rustic overhanging balcony. We wish we had had more time to tool around the area and see more sights. We highly recommend this wonderful place."

"We really enjoyed your home! We had ages 8-70 and it was a perfect fit. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. The cove was a perfect place for the kids to swim and play without boat traffic. We will definitely be back. Thanks!"

Perfect family vacation from frequent 5 star travelers...
"My family and I (wife & 2 daughters ages 9 & 6) had the pleasure of staying at the Shangri-La for a second time in 3 years (2013) and it proved once again to be outstanding. It's the intangibles that impress me the most from Dave and Steph. From the embroidered towel (name spelled correctly!), wine and cake upon arrival to the vast assortment of cooking utensils & pottery, soft towels and linens, cleanliness and and even the toilet paper. Who invests in high quality toilet paper for rental properties??? It goes without saying, the boathouse, to me, is the gem. We played 'Uno' every evening, ate all of our meals, listened to great music, drank Champagne & wine and just enjoyed the best view of the lake during the daylight hours and plentiful stars at night on the boathouse deck. In 2013 both my daughters were a bit too scared to take advantage of swimming in the beautiful water (they are accustomed to clear beaches on the Gulf Coast), playing on the Lilly-pad or paddle sports. I couldn't get them out of the water this year. Due to the rising cost of insurance, and I completely understand, the pontoon is no longer an option but the Laprades Marina is a short 10 minute drive around the dam, bait shop and up the West side of the lake. The rental options are a plenty and very affordable and not to mention, the food at the restaurant is outstanding. We rented a 21' pontoon, the girls found a deflated tube in the laundry room and we spent 2 full days on the water exploring and throwing the girls off the tube much to their delight. That was their 'favorite' thing as told to Mr. Dave when he arrived on our last full day to say hello. This year we took a side trip to Tallulah Gorge State Park and enjoyed the falls (and over 1000 vertical steps), previous we hiked in the near by state parks. At least twice a year my wife and I travel to the Caribbean in the Spring and northeast or Colorado in the fall, Shangri-La has quickly ascended to one of my top destinations, yes, even with kids. Hats off to Dave and Stephanie. The only downside this year is that we didn't catch nearly as many bass as in 2013..."
