"House and view were more wonderful than the photos. Doug met us at the property as he was replacing the refrigerator, and we had arrived early. He gave us a tour and offered so much local information. My sister and I, along with a friend who arrived later in the rental period, had a wonderful time. The weather was both good and bad and during both of these periods, the view did not disappoint as both sunshine and storms offered spectacular views out over the lake below. We spent some fun times in the hot tub during good weather, and enjoyed the fireplace during the rain storms. All and all, we had a wonderful time in this fabulous house.
My sister and I are senior ladies in our 70's. Thank you Doug"

"This cabin was beyond what we had hoped for--it is mountain luxury at every turn! To say that it is esthetically pleasing is an understatement. The inside space is full of designer touches--from the soaring stone fireplace to the copper sinks and casement windows. And the outside porch? It's not to be outdone, it rivals the inside space with the outdoor fireplace of your dreams. Knockin On Heaven's Door lives up to its name. The furnishings are a mix of old and new--with so many beautiful pieces of furniture and artwork to enjoy--add that to the mountain views seen from the windows and porches and you have found your Shangri-la. This cabin has everything you need--plenty of dishes, flatware, pots & pans, towels, pillows and blankets. We were lacking for absolutely nothing! We have stayed in many rental cabins in the north Georgia mountains but this will be our "go to" cabin from now on--it just has that wonderful welcoming feel to it. It's a special place for sure. I would also like to brag on Carol, she was very accommodating to work with and was available anytime I had a question--so much so that I popped into the local antique mall hoping to meet her before we left town! That tells you how enamored we were with the whole experience! We will definitely be back again. 💕"

"What an amazing place! My wife and I spent our anniversary here and just loved it. The cottage is the perfect blend of rustic elegance and is well appointed and decorated perfectly. The kitchen is well stocked and has everything that you would need. The back yard with the creek is a little bit of paradise that stirs up memories of my childhood growing up in East Tennessee. In fact, the general location within the foothills is very similar to where I spent my high school days. We made our first visit to Brasstown Bald which was wonderful but to be honest, I could have spent the entire weekend sitting in the back yard relaxing to the soothing sounds of the creek and been perfectly happy with my stay. The owner was great to work with and I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking to relax in nature. We are happy that they would share it with us and we will definitely be going back."

"We arrived after an 11 hour drive to find, thankfully, that the cottage is represented fairly by the website photos. We had planned to spend lots of time on the screened porch but the weather was unseasonably HOT, so only breakfast was enjoyed outside (not the owner's fault). The house is nicely furnished and the linens were great but there was a hint of musty odor upon arrival. Perhaps because it was so hot, the house was closed up tight and not allowed to air out. The area in and around Hiawassee was absolutely gorgeous. Coming from flat Florida my husband and I kept saying "this is sooo beautiful" every time we turned another winding road and there are many. While the restaurants are nothing to write home about, there is one in Hayesville NC (15 minutes away) that served a fantastic dinner - don't miss the Copper Door. Reasonable (for what you get) prices and great service. Sorry we didn't go until our last night. Ingles grocery is great. Don't miss Brasstown Bald. We also loved our Friday night at Hightower Creek Vineyard with the acoustics and tapas from 6 - 8 but make a reservation and Crane Creek Vineyard on Saturday afternoon with live entertainment. Kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding at Boundary Waters in Hiawassee was a highlight. And make sure you take a walk down around the neighborhood to see all the million dollar homes facing the water that are a stone's throw from the cottage. Owner was very easy to work with. You get what you are promised. Price was fair. Would have liked to have had a full size ironing board and a DVD player but we lived without them. All in all, a very nice experience."
