"My family (husband, 16 year old daughter and 2 year old dog) really enjoyed our stay at My Little Blue House. Some of the pros are: 1) it is at the end of about a mile long road, and it pretty much is the last house. It was QUIET and peaceful. 2) There is a small creek running through the property (as you can see in the pictures); our dog (and we!) loved it! 3) The cabin was VERY clean. You would not know that it was a place that allowed dogs -- there was no fur, nothing. Additionally, because of the location and the fact that it IS a cabin with high ceilings, wood paneled walls, there was no evidence of spider webs, etc, which tells me Karin's cleaning person is pretty meticulous about cleaning, which is nice. 4) Kitchen was VERY well stocked with utensils, refrigerator was spotless and cold (we've rented cabins where the fridge seemed to be on it's last legs because underneath had never been vacuumed of the dust), and the double oven was really nice. 5) While it seems like you are totally in the middle of the woods (you are!), it literally takes 5-7 minutes to get to Hiawassee if you need to go. We have also stayed in places where it is a 25 minute drive to just run to the store. 6) Proximity to hiking trails/waterfalls/biking: we did not drive any more than 45 minutes to go to a hike, which was great! 7) No wifi. I know this might be a "con" to some people, but it was fabulous for us. We spent lots of time just reading/writing/relaxing and being "unplugged". That was great. You can get phone reception, though, so if you HAVE to be "wired", it is possible. 8) Shower had GREAT water pressure (always nice in our book!)
If you are looking for a super modern cabin, this is not the place for you. The furniture is a little dated, but it is clean and comfortable, and the beds were very comfortable. There is a loft, which we did not use, with three beds as well. The covered patio was lovely, and we spent a lot of time on the patio reading, enjoying coffee and listening to nature.
Karin was awesome to work with as well. She was very responsive to emails. Her artistic touch is evident throughout the cabin. The thing we were not really able to do was use the hiking trails from the cabin. Karin has instructions to access them, but they have not been used heavily, so were fairly grown over. But that was okay, as there are many trails within a 20-45 minute drive that are lovely. It certainly wouldn't keep us from coming back."
