  • Georgia Vacation

"Our family had a great time at this home. We would like to thank Melinda and Edwin for all they did to make our stay so nice. This is a great location for a family vacation. We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, lake, and game room at the house and in the area we visited Amicalola Falls, Dahlonega, Cabbage Patch Babyland, and a day trip to Atlanta for the zoo, aquarium, and the Coca Cola museum. Thanks for a wonderful stay!!"

  • Great Family House

"We had three families stay together while we attended the Dragon Boat Festival on Lake Lanier. We cooked together, played outside on the dock, swam a lot, even rented a jet ski from Port Royale Marina. Lots of space in the home, great indoor and outdoor kitchen. Owner will deliver wood for small fee."

  • Perfect little tree house

"My husband and I have stayed in this cabin twice now. Both times have been lovely. The cabin is perched high in the trees so that it makes it feel like you are staying in a tree house. It is clean, cozy, and has all the comforts of home. It is located near Lake Rabun, numerous hiking trails, national forest, and a short drive from the quaint little village of Lakemont and the town of Clayton where we found several neat shops and restaurants. The owners of this cabin are a true pleasure to work with and go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. I highly recommend this property and hope to return soon!"

  • Christmas at The Lake

"Our family spent Christmas 2015 at this charming home. The sitting room with the beautiful fireplace was a perfect setting for our Christmas tree and thirteen stockings "hung on the mantle with care." The house itself was spacious and accommodated our family (and guests) perfectly. Christmas dinner for fifteen was cooked in the well-equipped kitchen and eaten together at "the Table." Since the weather was a bit chilly and wet, we appreciated the various spaces throughout the house that allowed simultaneous movie watching, conversations, card games, pool games, naps, etc. As a Christmas gift to us, our children had Allison Mah Photography take family photos with beautiful Lake Lanier as the background - a special memory of a wonderful Christmas. Thank you."

Northeast Mountains Travel Tips

More than Just Georgia on my Mind

Beginning just 50 miles from Atlanta, sight of the state’s main airport, are the mountains of Northeast Georgia. It is easily accessible from I-75 and I-85. Known by the original Cherokee inhabitants as the "Sah-ka-na-ga" or "Great Blue Hills of God," it is better known today as the Blue Ridge Mountains which are also part of the Appalachian Mountains. A significant area of the mountains, some 750,000 acres, comprises the Chattahoochee National Forest. Vacationers choosing Northeast Georgia cabin rentals come for the spectacular scenery and wonderful year-round climate.

Paradise for Outdoor Enthusiasts

Visitors to Northeast Georgia vacation rentals will find themselves in the heart of the great outdoors. The variety of activities is impressive, with endless trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding and much more. For water-lovers, go rafting at the Chattahoochee River National Park or enjoy the thrill of tubing at the Cool River Tubing Co. which also offers waterslides for the children. This area was the sight of the America’s first gold rush and visitors can still enter into the thrill of panning for gold and gemstones while learning more about the life in the 1800s. Children will enjoy the Kangaroo Conservation Center, the largest collection of these delightful animals outside of Australia. A not-to-be-missed day out is found at the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway where the vintage and open-air railcars wind along the Toccoa River up into the sister towns of McCaysville, GA and Copperhill, TN.

Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park commemorates battles from the Civil War and visitors will find the museum, seven-mile self-guided driving tour, monuments, hiking and horseback trails make up a wonderful day out. To round off your experience of the Civil War, visit Lookout Mountain Battlefield and the historic Cravens House.

Visiting the Parks--What Do You Need To Know?

Choosing a Northeast Georgia lodging near the magnificent parks and forests makes for a wonderful vacation. Visitors may wish to consider buying a Park and Historic Site Pass which not only provides great value for your money, it also helps preserve the parks and historic sites for future generations. Make sure you are aware of the safety tips provided at the parks. Dress appropriately. If you are planning a hike, make sure you wear the right shoes! In winter, ensure you have planned for the possibility of a shower. No one ever plans to get lost, so be aware of what to do if this happens. If you are planning to camp overnight, don’t bring firewood into the park, use local wood. If you plan to hunt or fish, please ensure you have a hunting and fishing license. Visitors can buy a license from the Wildlife Resources Division of DNR, at Electronic Georgia Licensing (EGAL) system or by calling 1-800-366-2661.
