  • I wish I could live there forever......

"At the last minute my Fiance and I decided we should go to Georgia for Christmas. This vacation would serve as my introduction to his family and as a much needed time away from the cold of Colorado. My initial conversation with Jack and all that followed were nothing short of convincing that “Tranquility Base” was the house for us during this important vacation. Jack and his wife were so understanding of course, that we wouldn’t have the payment and deposit to them 30 days prior to our stay, because we were booking with less than 30 days left, but we got it to them as fast as regular mail would allow. Check in time at “Tranquility Base “ is normally 1600, The Massey’s were aware that we were traveling from Colorado and due to arrive in Georgia around 11 am on the 25th of December and without having to ask, we were given permission to check in by noon. We found this very accommodating. With the purpose of this vacation causing me much anxiety, I was so pleased to arrive and find this lovely home exactly as we’d expected, very spacious and clean. I can not fail to mention how nicely decorated and well stocked it was with everything you would have at your own home, minus food, but we handled that. We even had treats on the counter, with a very thoughtful welcome note. Taking full advantage of all of the amenities, we had very little idle time. We fished, BBQ’d, made smores, played games, and just enjoyed each other. The visit with my new family was wonderful and I believe that “Tranquility Base” played a very important part in making it so. I’d secretly wished we didn’t have to leave and that this was our home, but we do have future plans to return."

  • Excellent!!

"Had great time with the family. This place is huge and the views are spectacular. We were a total of 13 (kids and adults) and everyone loved it. Thanks for making me look good as I was the one who booked it. :) Kelly was very helpful and prompt to respond any questions we had. Hopefully we can come back in the near future.."

"We had a wonderful Thanksgiving getaway with our teenagers. The kitchen was fully stocked to make an amazing Thanksgiving feast. We loved the wood burning fireplace and played games by it. The beds were very comfy as well. Friday we drove to Greenville and shopped and ate an amazing lunch at Smoke on the Water. Highly recommend this restaurant. Mark, thanks for sharing your slice of heaven right on the lake with us. Maggie and Boogie (our pugs) had a ball too!!! Such a cozy, beautiful home, right on the water!"

  • Fantastic Weekend Getaway

"I've stayed at Bob's house three times now - the location and setting could not be more perfect. On good days you'll likely spend all day on the boathouse or floating dock, but the house itself is perfectly comfortable for several adults or a big family (even two small families!)."

Northeast Mountains Travel Tips

More than Just Georgia on my Mind

Beginning just 50 miles from Atlanta, sight of the state’s main airport, are the mountains of Northeast Georgia. It is easily accessible from I-75 and I-85. Known by the original Cherokee inhabitants as the "Sah-ka-na-ga" or "Great Blue Hills of God," it is better known today as the Blue Ridge Mountains which are also part of the Appalachian Mountains. A significant area of the mountains, some 750,000 acres, comprises the Chattahoochee National Forest. Vacationers choosing Northeast Georgia cabin rentals come for the spectacular scenery and wonderful year-round climate.

Paradise for Outdoor Enthusiasts

Visitors to Northeast Georgia vacation rentals will find themselves in the heart of the great outdoors. The variety of activities is impressive, with endless trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding and much more. For water-lovers, go rafting at the Chattahoochee River National Park or enjoy the thrill of tubing at the Cool River Tubing Co. which also offers waterslides for the children. This area was the sight of the America’s first gold rush and visitors can still enter into the thrill of panning for gold and gemstones while learning more about the life in the 1800s. Children will enjoy the Kangaroo Conservation Center, the largest collection of these delightful animals outside of Australia. A not-to-be-missed day out is found at the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway where the vintage and open-air railcars wind along the Toccoa River up into the sister towns of McCaysville, GA and Copperhill, TN.

Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park commemorates battles from the Civil War and visitors will find the museum, seven-mile self-guided driving tour, monuments, hiking and horseback trails make up a wonderful day out. To round off your experience of the Civil War, visit Lookout Mountain Battlefield and the historic Cravens House.

Visiting the Parks--What Do You Need To Know?

Choosing a Northeast Georgia lodging near the magnificent parks and forests makes for a wonderful vacation. Visitors may wish to consider buying a Park and Historic Site Pass which not only provides great value for your money, it also helps preserve the parks and historic sites for future generations. Make sure you are aware of the safety tips provided at the parks. Dress appropriately. If you are planning a hike, make sure you wear the right shoes! In winter, ensure you have planned for the possibility of a shower. No one ever plans to get lost, so be aware of what to do if this happens. If you are planning to camp overnight, don’t bring firewood into the park, use local wood. If you plan to hunt or fish, please ensure you have a hunting and fishing license. Visitors can buy a license from the Wildlife Resources Division of DNR, at Electronic Georgia Licensing (EGAL) system or by calling 1-800-366-2661.
