  • Family Fun!

"Our entire family (ages 20 months to 85 years old) enjoyed a week at this home on Lake Burton. We had a wonderful time - the house was very comfortable and it was easy to feel relaxed and "at home". We fished and tubed on the lake and especially enjoyed the porch above the dock with the swings and hammock.... Each bedroom had it's own bath which was very convenient. Our grandchildren LOVED the loft area in the master bedroom! Many happy memories were made as we were all able to sit around the HUGE round table for our meals. We will always have a special place in our hearts for this home and our time there."

  • We loved it!

"Thanks so much for a great time. We enjoyed the fishing and downtown Clayton. The cabin was just what we needed. My family loved the dogs. Look forward to seeing them and you again."

  • Great in every way!

"Wonderful location and incredible views. The climb up the "mountain" road to reach the cabin was half the fun, and we never saw another car in our 4 days here. Very secluded, but we always felt completely safe. We loved exploring the quiet surroundings and hanging with the 2 very friendly dogs that visited us each morning. The property is centrally located to beautiful Amicalola Falls State Park and Fort Mountain State Park, as well as the wonderful little town of Ellijay, which was like stepping back in time to Main Street U.S.A. The cabin was immaculately clean, super spacious, and every possible amenity was provided for us. You could tell the owner had put a lot of thought into anticipating what guests might need. The giant flat-screen TV was great to watch in the evening as we relaxed on the big sectional sofa after a busy day hiking and exploring. We would highly recommend staying here. What a unique and memorable experience compared to staying at some hotel. The lodging for our vacations is normally just a place to sleep at night, but this property was the highlight of our vacation! We hope to return in the future with our extended family!"

  • Octoberfest 2014

"We recently spent a weekend in Helen, GA for Octoberfest. Our stay at Alpine Riverside Retreat was all that we expected. The location was great, close enough to walk to downtown and all the activities but far enough away to avoid the crowds when needed. The rental was very clean and decor is great and exactly as pictured. We would definitely recommend this rental."

Northeast Mountains Travel Tips

More than Just Georgia on my Mind

Beginning just 50 miles from Atlanta, sight of the state’s main airport, are the mountains of Northeast Georgia. It is easily accessible from I-75 and I-85. Known by the original Cherokee inhabitants as the "Sah-ka-na-ga" or "Great Blue Hills of God," it is better known today as the Blue Ridge Mountains which are also part of the Appalachian Mountains. A significant area of the mountains, some 750,000 acres, comprises the Chattahoochee National Forest. Vacationers choosing Northeast Georgia cabin rentals come for the spectacular scenery and wonderful year-round climate.

Paradise for Outdoor Enthusiasts

Visitors to Northeast Georgia vacation rentals will find themselves in the heart of the great outdoors. The variety of activities is impressive, with endless trails for hiking, biking, horseback riding and much more. For water-lovers, go rafting at the Chattahoochee River National Park or enjoy the thrill of tubing at the Cool River Tubing Co. which also offers waterslides for the children. This area was the sight of the America’s first gold rush and visitors can still enter into the thrill of panning for gold and gemstones while learning more about the life in the 1800s. Children will enjoy the Kangaroo Conservation Center, the largest collection of these delightful animals outside of Australia. A not-to-be-missed day out is found at the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway where the vintage and open-air railcars wind along the Toccoa River up into the sister towns of McCaysville, GA and Copperhill, TN.

Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park commemorates battles from the Civil War and visitors will find the museum, seven-mile self-guided driving tour, monuments, hiking and horseback trails make up a wonderful day out. To round off your experience of the Civil War, visit Lookout Mountain Battlefield and the historic Cravens House.

Visiting the Parks--What Do You Need To Know?

Choosing a Northeast Georgia lodging near the magnificent parks and forests makes for a wonderful vacation. Visitors may wish to consider buying a Park and Historic Site Pass which not only provides great value for your money, it also helps preserve the parks and historic sites for future generations. Make sure you are aware of the safety tips provided at the parks. Dress appropriately. If you are planning a hike, make sure you wear the right shoes! In winter, ensure you have planned for the possibility of a shower. No one ever plans to get lost, so be aware of what to do if this happens. If you are planning to camp overnight, don’t bring firewood into the park, use local wood. If you plan to hunt or fish, please ensure you have a hunting and fishing license. Visitors can buy a license from the Wildlife Resources Division of DNR, at Electronic Georgia Licensing (EGAL) system or by calling 1-800-366-2661.
