  • Girls Retreat

"We LOVED the rustic charm mixed with the modern appliances. This home is decorated with the items that our parents or grandparents would have used growing up. Swinging on the back porch swing, listening to the running creek, talking about old times was awesome. We would STRONGLY recommend a 4WD type vehicle for all the hills and steep driveways. We go on girls trips (as often as we can) and stay at different locations to be able to explore new areas. Big Canoe is HUGE! Due to personal and medical setbacks we were unable to venture through the whole community. We are really looking forward to coming back. Jay, You are an awesome man. Thank you for your generosity! • A wonderful weekend at Eagle's Nest

"Fantastic cabin with all the amenities! Warm jacuzzi, romantic fire and cozy bed. We wouldn't change a thing abut this cabin! Just 2 of us this weekend, but it would be perfect for two couples as well. So wonderful it made us want to look for one to buy ourselves!"

  • Just the right amount of everything

"I had never used VRBO or any similar service. I've been more of a full service resort kind of person, and that's changing. I was very resistant to submit payment to someone who is essentially a stranger. I like to hope everyone will be honest, but plan for them to be dirtbags. I was fortunate here that the owner: represented the property accurately, was friendly and easy to work with (on the few details that needed to be dealt with), and promptly returned my security deposit. My friend and I have a dog who is about 50lbs. She's extremely well behaved, but finding a house for us was challenging. The owner may or may not accept your pet, just a heads up that you need to ask. He didn't ask me to do this, but I did pay for the extra damage insurance through VRBO for my own piece of mind. I was afraid that because he accepted pets on occasion that the home would not be clean, may smell poorly, or would be in poor shape. None of which was the case. The home was not a "luxury" rental, nor was it represented as such. It was very clean, comfortable, and absolutely everything worked with no problems whatsoever. I cooked a few meals in the kitchen and everything worked out there too. I had to run out to Publix, and the nearest grocery store was about 15-20mins away. Now, there was only two of us and a dog, which was fantastic, but it would have been an awesome place for a group of people to hang out for a week, too. The neighborhood is private, gated, and well kept. The few people I met while walking the dog were very friendly. One couple just purchased a home there following a recent stay at a rental property. If I had the means, I'd be doing the same. The thing I loved the most was the view from the house onto the lake. I live in a city some people call one of the most beautiful anywhere, and I've travelled the world and seen some some gorgeous places. The lake in the morning with the mist coming over the top, with the leaves changing colors, reflecting over the water, rivaled many of my favorite places. I've been recovering from some sports injuries and the hot tub was really great for it. I think I used it twice a day. Again, it worked perfectly (which they almost never do, am I right?!) I was there in early November, but could see myself enjoying this property year-round. note: i'm not recommending it for people with disabilities, simply because of the kinda steep steps to the dock. Other than that, it would be great!"
