  • nice time on the river

"We had a very nice time on the river. The house was very well outfitted, toilet paper paper towels. We ate in most meals so was glad to see the kitchen so well outfitted. We enjoyed eating out on the deck. We did eat a few meals out and it is not far from town. So many nice restaurants to eat at. We ate at Blue Ridge Brewery and the Black Sheep. Both were very good. We enjoyed the firepit and did smores down there. Also got in the hot tub and enjoyed that. Kids got in the water. While we were there we went whitewater rafting on the Ocoee, kayaked the Toccoa River and tried to paddleboard but the proprieter of the only game in town was not very agreeable. We went to the Saturday open farmers market in town and really enjoyed that and picked apples at Mercier Orchards (they also have great vegetables and fruit.) If you want to use inner tubes, bring them from home. None at the house and none at the wallmart or dollar store, and I thought it was still summer. No problems with the tv, but internet service didn't work till the last day there. The driveway is a little intimidating at first but if you really can't handle it, I am sure you could park down below and use the stairs. The recomendations below say age 55+, I would check it if you can handle stairs because my husband and I are both 55+ so use your judgement. I used the stairs as exercise. All and all we had a wonderful time."

  • Family time at the lake

"Just returned home from a very relaxing Spring Break at the Hattiway cottage. We traveled with our four children ranging in age from 12 to 23 and all had a great time. It was the perfect place to kick back, relax on the dock deck and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The house was well equipped, clean and very comfortable. David the property manager was very helpful. We didn't want our trip to end!"

  • The Perfect Getaway

"Planning a group trip can be a difficult task. Especially when you want to prove to all your homebody friends that there are places out there that make you feel like you've stepped in to a dream and are worth a little travel. Well, for us this was a 3 hr 45 min. drive! BUT WORTH EVERY SECOND! I'll start by saying that the pictures do NOT come close to doing this beautiful lodge justice!!! This lodge is SO spacious, very clean, and decorated with the perfect touches to give you that cabin-in-the-mountains feel. With the open floor plan of the kitchen, which is fully stocked with all the necessities to make a feast, and the den, with a huge hearth holding a tv and fireplace, along with the dining room, which had a surreal view of the river, was the ideal spot for us to cook and all get to hang out. Then without hesitation, it was off to the lower floor to enjoy pool, ping pong, and of course the hot tub. Whether it's laying on the large daybed swing listening to the river, playing card games, fishing off the dock, soaking in the hot tub, or just snuggling in the bed watching tv....there is alwaaayyys something to do!!! And this is coming from someone who visited in the middle of winter and had a severe winter weather alert while we were there! Haha Definitely looking forward to coming back in the summer when we can enjoy the kayaks, volleyball in the back yard, and tubing down the river :) Last but not least, huge thanks to Ian and Sarah! (Owners of this cabin) Coming from someone who works in customer service, ya'll are amazing, friendly & so hospitable!! Thank you for opening your cabin for others to enjoy a little escape from day to day reality! Look forward to seeing you in the summer ;)"

  • Excellent Stay!!

"We stayed for 3 nights to get away from the daily grind and this cabin was perfect! Great views on the top of the mountain as well as secluded away at the end/edge of the top. The cabin was cozy and very relaxing! It has everything you could think you would need for your stay, with an excellent movie collection, and set up for entertainment as well. Down town blue ridge was a short ride away; an awesome little town with great restaurants and very welcoming. We went fly fishing on the Toccoa River and a couple of hikes as well. There is a bunch to do close by if you wanted the mountain adventure however; just lounging at the cozy retreat was excellent so it was hard to decide. Everywhere we went was enjoyable!! Thanks Dave for a great stay, we hope we can stay again soon!!!"
