  • Wonderful. There is no need to leave the property there is so much to enjoy!

"The other reviews have already stated all that there is to do on the property, the amazing views and how close it is to Blue Ridge and Ellijay (8 miles to each.) The cabin interior is ALL wood, with high ceilings, it is absolutely beautiful!! I would like to recognize the thought that goes into the management of this property. Mike and Sharon have provided everything you could need, it is wonderful. Sheets, towels, washer & dryer, firewood for the fire pit down, even the marshmallow roasting sticks, and walking sticks for the well marked trail which starts at the cabin. For the record there is a flatscreen TV and a bluray player (not in the pictures) for late night movies. (they even have a selection of older fun DVDs.) It is all there for you to enjoy!"

  • So private and relaxing!

"My family, including myself, husband, Mom, three teenagers, and two GSDs recently stayed here at BCC for a nice, relaxing weekend. My oldest son was just graduating Army bootcamp and we felt he needed some R&R. The setting is absolutely wonderful and is so relaxing. Every night, we sat out by the fire, listened to the noisy creek, and watched the THOUSANDS of fireflies light up the trees...it was beyond explanation. We all enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!"

  • One of the best Homes at Big Canoe

"This home is a showcase. We had 10 people and there was plenty of room for everyone. An early Thanksgiving dinner was easy to prepare and cook with the huge kitchen. This home is decorated comfortably and beautifully. Great TV room on the lower level. A large deck with 2 picnic tables and further down from the house a separate deck with a large fire pit. Great for S'mores and family time. This home sits at the beginning of a hiking trail and on a creek. The scenic view is breathtaking. One of the best parts is the abundance of parking. We had 7 cars and there was still plenty of room. Also, there was a ramp to the front entrance which would be helpful if you had someone with physical limitations. I will definitely rent this home again."

  • Just the right amount of everything

"I had never used VRBO or any similar service. I've been more of a full service resort kind of person, and that's changing. I was very resistant to submit payment to someone who is essentially a stranger. I like to hope everyone will be honest, but plan for them to be dirtbags. I was fortunate here that the owner: represented the property accurately, was friendly and easy to work with (on the few details that needed to be dealt with), and promptly returned my security deposit. My friend and I have a dog who is about 50lbs. She's extremely well behaved, but finding a house for us was challenging. The owner may or may not accept your pet, just a heads up that you need to ask. He didn't ask me to do this, but I did pay for the extra damage insurance through VRBO for my own piece of mind. I was afraid that because he accepted pets on occasion that the home would not be clean, may smell poorly, or would be in poor shape. None of which was the case. The home was not a "luxury" rental, nor was it represented as such. It was very clean, comfortable, and absolutely everything worked with no problems whatsoever. I cooked a few meals in the kitchen and everything worked out there too. I had to run out to Publix, and the nearest grocery store was about 15-20mins away. Now, there was only two of us and a dog, which was fantastic, but it would have been an awesome place for a group of people to hang out for a week, too. The neighborhood is private, gated, and well kept. The few people I met while walking the dog were very friendly. One couple just purchased a home there following a recent stay at a rental property. If I had the means, I'd be doing the same. The thing I loved the most was the view from the house onto the lake. I live in a city some people call one of the most beautiful anywhere, and I've travelled the world and seen some some gorgeous places. The lake in the morning with the mist coming over the top, with the leaves changing colors, reflecting over the water, rivaled many of my favorite places. I've been recovering from some sports injuries and the hot tub was really great for it. I think I used it twice a day. Again, it worked perfectly (which they almost never do, am I right?!) I was there in early November, but could see myself enjoying this property year-round. note: i'm not recommending it for people with disabilities, simply because of the kinda steep steps to the dock. Other than that, it would be great!"
