  • Grey Heron House

"We enjoyed our stay. House was clean, appropriately built, and maintained for rental use. We were part of group of 4 families w/kids. It is fairly close to 515 if last minute items are needed or you choose to enjoy the local area."

  • Peaceful and secluded

"My husband and I spent the weekend and had a wonderful visit. The cabin was quiet and secluded and had a wonderful view of one of the Big Canoe lakes."

  • Wonderful experience for a different sort of vacation

"My family normally looks for sun'n' beach or sun'n'pool vacations when we want to get away. In fact, we first learned of this place when we stayed at the owners rental in Florida a few years back, and have been interested in visiting it ever since. The drive up into Lookout mountain itself is exciting (coming from the flat prairie lands of the midwest). Then walking out on the enormous balcony overlooking the valley was something else. From that balcony we could watch sunrises/sunsets, storms and lighting shows in the far distance, and of course the clouds. We had a different viewing experience nearly every day. There is a large hot tub, a grill, dinning table and lounge furniture around a fire pit. We spent most of our time out there, day and night, eating, drinking and relaxing -- just what we were looking for on this vacation. Back inside, we kept the french doors to the balcony open most of the time during the day creating a nice indoor/outdoor vibe. The furniture is very plentiful and comfy, and the kitchen well stocked. The best is the buck stove for keeping us cozy during the chilly nights. This place is also very dog-friendly, one of the reasons we rent with the owners. Our dog could completely run free in the fenced front yard and on the balcony/open family room. She loved our walks up and down the drive, and also the hikes in the local state parks. Outside of hiking in the parks, we didn't really get away from Ridgetop much, but for a reason. It is so relaxing and beautiful. loved it."

  • Spring break

"Our family wanted something different than the standard trip to the beach for spring break so we tried out Mark's house at Big Canoe. This was our first visit to both. Mark was so helpful with info and always easy to contact when needed. The house is outstanding..so much so that we invited the in-laws down to join us kind-of last minute and Mark was so nice in allowing them to join us. Big Canoe is really spectacular...hiking, boating, and golf were all outstanding....plus all the things to do at the house! Try out the Pub at the clubhouse for lunch or dinner...good food and great atmosphere...Had a great trip and are already planning next visit there!"
