"Extremely comfortable cabin with all necessary facilities. We used it for a quiet two week break, to enable my wife to write. Within 30-40 mins. there are a good varied selection of restaurants and shopping to satisfy most people. For the time of year especially,we were pleasantly surprised to find a varied selection of walks/hikes/activities to suit an older couple. All in all a good find, we can recommend."Guest: johnwy Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: April 5, 2014View listing
"My husband, our yellow labrador and I needed a weekend get-away and this was just the ticket! Tasteful inside, rustic outside and the whole yard almost completely fenced so Joe the lab could wander happily (renters beware that the front gate is hard to latch - have to lift it up to latch it and fiddle with it a bit). The downstairs bed was super comfy with nice linens (we didn't use the bedroom or bath upstairs but it sure looked nice too!) and we kept the windows open while we slept so we could hear the river music. We also kept the bathroom window opened so we could hear the gentle wasterfall from the koi pond. Nice screened porch overlooking the river, which is only about 10 steps away from the screen door and the river itself was about 30 feet across with nothing on the otherside but nature - so pretty. The homes on both sides of the cabin are VERY close, and I thought that would be a problem as far as privacy and noise, but it wasn't a problem at all. There are enough trees to obscure the view and the hot tub was very private too. We spent a lot of time in that hot tub - nice! They had it warmed-up and ready for us upon arrival - it doesn't have too many jets and they aren't very strong jets, but it was clean and relaxing. We loved the fire pit area which is right on the river bank. My husband fixed us breakfast both mornings and a steak dinner on that fire pit! Town is so close but you'd never know it. The whole experience was wonderful and we highly recommend for a couple or two. The management company, Sliding Rock Cabins, is very efficient and informative and do a great job so I will always seek out their properties."Guest: TC, BC and Joe the Lab Date of Stay: April 2011 Review Submitted: April 11, 2011View listing
"We had a wonderful time at your home in Big Canoe. It was so spacious and worked out perfectly for our family - we could all be together having fun, but we still had our own space to retreat to when we needed a breather. :) Your home was quite comfortable and so nicely furnished. The views were absolutely beautiful. Even in winter with the bare trees, etc., we loved looking out over the valley towards the mountains in the distance. We could easily imagine how beautiful it would be to sit out there on a summer morning or evening. The children with us loved the wildlife we saw, including a family of deer and a large, red-headed woodpecker going to town on a tree behind your home. We found Big Canoe to be plenty close to amenities, including a dinner at Fuego right outside the north gate and a Christmas Eve service at Trinity Church just down the road. We also enjoyed exploring Dawsonville and took in a movie there. And on one day, we drove into Atlanta to see the aquarium. So it all worked out splendidly."Guest: VA to GA Date of Stay: December 2013 Review Submitted: January 5, 2014View listing
"I just returned from this home for a girls weekend and was very impressed. The house is in a great area of Big Canoe surrounded by many high-end homes and has beautiful mountain views. The screened in porch was wonderful, including a TV and fireplace. The house is very spacious and slept 8 very comfortably. The furnishings are nice and the kitchen is well-stocked. I would definitely stay here again!"Guest: klh Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: August 22, 2014View listing
