  • A quiet haven in the forest

"We arrived to find everything as it had been described. The owners gave us lots of information about the property and how everything worked as well as about lots of things to do in the area. The cabin is in a quiet area with lots of yard. We built a campfire several evenings. Almost every night we were visited by deer, which we could view from the screened in porch or the hot tub. We were in the hot tub every day too-- it felt so good because the mornings and evenings could get a little chilly, which was wonderful for us being from Florida. There was no traffic noise, just stillness. The owners prepared us for no cell coverage, and that was pretty nice. We had great wifi, though, so didn't feel too cut off. There was a fireplace which we didn't use, but which would make the living room nice and cozy in the winter. The only drawback to this place is that it's pretty far from everything, including a paved road (over a mile up a gravel road to the cabin). Our gps failed us at least once, leading to a bit of a hairy situation. Nonetheless, it's a beautiful setting, and we spent the week hiking, floating, shopping, and exploring."

  • Our good fortune

"We had the good fortune to rent this gorgeous home and another two houses away for a family vacation-turned wedding this summer. It was extremely convenient for nearly two dozen of us to stay within walking distance of each other and of the swim club’s great amenities. The teens enjoyed the club’s pool, lake, rock slide, volley ball, canoes, a snack bar and hiking, while the adults focused on wedding details and grocery shopping at the nearby full-service IGA. It was so much fun staying at this house! The experience was more than we hoped for. The owners, Tom and Judi, were available by phone, text and email at a moment’s notice to answer questions, and they supplied everything we needed, from kitchen gadgets to makeup remover to games and videos. It was like being at home. The level of cleanliness and comfort was excellent. We enjoyed soaking in the hot tub and the Jacuzzi tub at the end of days of strenuous hiking and golf on the picturesque courses. We’ve vacationed at Big Canoe many times over the years, but this was the first time we required a place large enough for a dozen people. This is where we want to stay from now on!"

  • Weekend Family Getaway

"My family and I had a great weekend in the mountains! The property looks even better in person than the pictures on the VRBO link. The rental was exceptionally clean. The owners were very helpful with information about the cabin and the surrounding area and they made the payment and access to the property, convenient and effortless. The kitchen, living area, bathrooms and views from the property, exceeded my expectations. I went there with my wife, my kids (a teenager, two elementary students) and there was something for everyone to do. We went hiking on a trail to a waterfall that was a short drive away. My wife and teenage daughter enjoyed shopping in the historic area of Blue Ridge. The cabin itself was a great escape and just what I needed for a break from a hectic work schedule. This is a vacation that my family and I will remember for many years."

  • JOHNWY

"Extremely comfortable cabin with all necessary facilities. We used it for a quiet two week break, to enable my wife to write. Within 30-40 mins. there are a good varied selection of restaurants and shopping to satisfy most people. For the time of year especially,we were pleasantly surprised to find a varied selection of walks/hikes/activities to suit an older couple. All in all a good find, we can recommend."
