  • Great house for family getaway

"We stayed in this house Labor Day 14 to attend a nearby wedding. Very comfortable for 3 couples and two toddlers. Very "homey" in a way you could relax. Great, large screened-in porch. Very affordable; we stayed three nights for the price of what we would have paid for 3 rooms for one night at a hotel. Bent Tree has many fun activities. Played golf at a beautiful course 2 minutes away, hiked several trails with streams and waterfalls, and swam in two pools right around the corner. There is also a lake close by for canoeing and kayaking. We even went apple picking close by. Janice was very easy to work with. We'd love to come back! Thanks!"

"Our family comprises of 6 adults (3 married couples). This cabin was spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub and the sound of the Whip-poor-will at night. The listing photos and description are accurate. We were very comfortable in every way. The cabin sits at the top of a small lane and the neighbors down the road are pretty much invisible. The yard around the cabin has some lovely plants, but given that we are talking the mountains, there isn't much flat grassy areas for lawn games. However, we discovered the community center off Highway 5 on the way to Blue Ridge--perfect for that sort of thing. It is well worth a trip to the visitor center in Blue Ridge to discover some of the local sites. The shops of Blue Ridge are charming. We enjoyed our meal at Harvest on Main and a cupcake from The Sweet Shop (owner won on Food Network's Cupcake Wars) and some local fudge. We strolled through the Farmer's Market and Brown's Feed and Seed. We did not take a ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad, but hope to next year. We also visited Mercer Orchards and spent quite a bit of time browsing through the gift shop. We attended church at Crossover Community church and even shopped their community thrift store when we discovered none of us had packed a sweater! The people of the Blue Ridge community are kind and helpful. Since Atlanta is about an hour away, half our party took in a Brave's game, while the other half went whitewater rafting with Rolling Thunder River Company on the Ocoee River just over the border in Tennessee. The Ocoee Visitor Center is well worth the visit, with lovely woodland trails. It was a venue for the 1996 Summer Atlanta Olympic games. Most evenings, we just enjoyed making dinner followed by board games. We found that the kitchen was stocked better than we expected (this was our first cabin rental). We were glad to have brought our own outdoor grill and indoor breakfast grill plate for pancakes (there may have been one, but we didn't see it). A new Wal-Mart just opened in Blue Ridge (about a half hour away), so anything that we needed was not far away. The house was clean, the beds were made and having a washer and dryer made the stay even easier. Communication with the owner before and after was easy and she did everything possible to make our stay pleasant. We very much appreciated the fact that she is dog friendly. We have already spoken with the owner about returning next year. We had a lovely time!"

  • Awesome 40th birthday getaway

"We recently stayed at creekside for my 40th birthday. We have already visit the area on several occasions and decided to just stay in the cabin enjoying the creek and relaxing. Sally and Jim were very pleasant and even though the main house is close they never bothered us. We will most defiantly visit again. My hubby wants to try his hand at fly fishing again and I am ready to listen to the creek and enjoy my kindle. Next time we might rent both cabins and bring the "kids" with us."

  • 25th Anniversary Trip

"We just returned from a wonderful week's stay at Shooting Star Falls! We debated between going to the beach or to the mountains and decided on this beautiful home in Big Canoe. It was definitely a home and not a cabin and we were so impressed with the furnishings and the way it was so beautifully decorated. It was just the two of us and we were able to enjoy quiet mornings with breakfast on the screened in patio listening to the waterfalls before going out on new adventures each day. We could easily have stayed two weeks trying to see everything in the area, but we will have to return. Mark was such a great host and was so accommodating. We couldn't find a corkscrew to open our wine, so he overnighted one to the front door! We felt like we were renting from a friend, and it was so much nicer than going through a company. We would highly recommend this property to anyone that enjoys first class accommodations in a quiet and private setting surrounded by God's natural beauty. We can't wait to go back!"
