  • Nice & Cozy

"With few exceptions, this was a great get-away place. It's not really secluded, as there are homes and rentals everywhere, but it still felt like we were a million miles away from everything. No cell signal on US Cellular, but strong (if slow) Internet connection. The property was clean and well-maintained and the sound of that creek on the property was just wonderful. If you don't like a hard bed, I'd recommend bringing an inflatable mattress - it is NOT a comfortable bed at all and was a lot like sleeping on plywood covered in steel. Not nearly enough space in the kitchen for guests to store food off of the counters, but an abundance of dishes and cookware available. Not the world's greatest grill, but it was great in a pinch. The porch and swing were just awesome for relaxing in the late afternoon sun. Overall, we had a wonderful time and Hope Landing provided a cozy and comfy place for us to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature."

  • Cabin away from home...

"Honestly, I have never been on a vacation where I wasn't ready to get home....NEVER. This is the first time I didn't want to leave. I could live there! It is so peaceful, soul-lifting, beautiful, serene, fun. Words cannot describe this cabin/property. We are a family of 7. Kids ages are 5 - 13. Never a dull moment...Never heard the words "I'm bored". You do not need to leave the property to have a great time - the kids were so worn out by the end of the day from all of their adventures, it was great! Previous reviews said they didn't see a soul on their visits and that is the truth. We spent 6 nights, hiked for miles down that stream and there wasn't another person or house. One of my favorite things to do was sipping coffee on the porch, listening to the stream, watching the kids search for crawdads. The antique stove was so much fun to cook with. We made cobblers, pulled roast pork, etc - works like a charm and so unique! Loved taking pictures of the kids at the mill, with the tractor....You just have to book this place to see all of the amazing things that I'm sure we didn't even cover on our trip. I can't wait to go back. One of a kind property! P.S. If I could give one tip...If you plan on hiking IN the stream (and I recommend it because you miss some beautiful sites just staying on the trails), like we did many times....wear an old pair of tennis shoes - it will save your feet. There are many beautiful rocks and the majority are not even slippery. We just noticed after miles of hiking, water shoes didn't offer enough cushion. Slipped on tennis shoes and we were good to go. OH! And grab a hiking stick - they have some by the front door!"

  • Stress-free Christmas in the mountains

"We really enjoyed Christmas in the mountains. The cabin was basically what you see in the pictures. It was nice, with a beautiful setting. The river is beautiful. We enjoyed marshmallows over the fire pit, and hung Christmas lights in the living room and on the back deck. It could use a little paint inside and maybe some deep down cleaning on floors and stairs/railing. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean. The only thing that really bugged me was when I turned down the comforter in the upstairs queen bedroom, it was very dirty on the underside. Old stains and new ones...like someone had gotten in the bed with chocolate or something...you could just tell that the comforters don't usually get washed. I had to take all of the bedding off and put it to the side. I think the sheets were laundered, but I would recommend bringing your own blanket/pillow. We didn't complain, but I'm sure if we did, they would have taken care of it. Rec Center: It was pretty nice. Big heated pool, tennis, basketball, gym. Our family enjoyed it. Make sure you have your guest card when you go. The lady at the rec center was rude and dismissive, but later apologized. Downtown Elijay was nice. The person handling our check in and payment for the cabin was very nice and accommodating. Overall, it was a good cabin and we enjoyed our stay there. If you have someone who doesn't handle stairs well, they should stay in main floor bedroom. The basement bedroom and upstairs bedrooms, and firepit/jacuzzi involve quite a few stairs"
