Wonderful Vacation Home - Plan to return
"This is a great vacation home -- the pictures do not do it justice. It is well furnished and a nice remodel. About 10 minutes from downtown Hilo and 2 hours from Kona, so it was very convenient to the major sights and activities that we wanted to see. The house was clean, spacious, and has nice features, especially the kitchen -- it was truly like coming home after our day's activities. We were fortunate to get to know the owners of the house and they immediately made us feel like family. They are a generous and friendly couple -- they truly showed us the Aloha spirit during our stay there. They recommended the Hawaiian Style Cafe in Hilo to us and that has become our favorite restaurant on the Big Island. We plan to come back again next year and hopefully this home will be available at that time."

Great Location for swimmers or families with young children
This condo is located right next to Carl Smith Beach Bark- which has beautiful lagoons you can swim in.
They are crystal clear and you can see large turtles in the mornings and sometimes late evenings. The condo is a short drive to downtown Hilo- probably about 10 minutes.
The Volcano is about 40 minutes.
Hilo airport is probably about 20 minutes away.
Waipio valley is about 1 hour 15 min away.
Akaka falls is about 1 hour away.
For people with young children, this is a wonderful location.
Most tourists-especially those who like to stay at resorts will tell you that the Kona side is better, but in reality they are the ones missing out. We stayed one week in this condo and three days at the Hilton Waikoloa. There is no comparison as this condo is a million times better for people like me.
Condo Layout and Amenities: There is a laundry on each floor; this is great as you don't have to bring tons of clothes with you. The place had a nice layout and we had plenty of space for two adults and two young children. There are pots, pans, and everything you basically need in a small kitchen.I contacted the owner to ask about Beach towels and she brought them to me the next day.. On a rainy day, the TV went out. The owner came and replaced it; this was very nice of her.
There is a common Laundry area on each floor; however, there is only one washer and one dryer. I would put in my load and then turn my cell phone timer on and make sure I return in time.
There is no air conditioning - However, there are some large fans and you can open all the windows. If you are not used to places without air-conditioning, you might take some time to adjust.
Suggestions for families with small children: Pack the following items: some essentials like peanut butter, snacks, small salt/pepper, snacks, laundry pods, zip loc bags in your suitcase. This way, you don't have to wast time at unfamiliar grocery stores searching for them. That way you can just go straight to the bread, water, milk, and get out of there. Go to the grocery store on the way from the airport. There are grocery carts parked at the condo which you can use to take your things upstairs. They are parked around the corner from the elevator.
Bring enough quarters for laundry- it's about 2 bucks to wash and 1.25 to dry.
We only bought one suitcase, so I washed about 4 times during our one week stay."

"Having never been on the Big Island, it was not easy choosing the perfect home and location for my family of 5. After having spent 3 weeks in this house my family and I agree I could not have chosen a better location or a better house.
This is an absolutely beautiful house and had everything we needed.
We loved visiting the beautiful falls just minutes away.
We loved having a store in Papaaloa to buy milk bread and delicious freshly baked pizza. We visited Waipio valley, pololu valley and Havi to see the Kings statue and have the best Shave ice in the island.
We loved driving through Waimea to the Honokaa Coast to So many beautiful beaches to spend the day boogie boarding, snorkelling and making sand castles. Horse back riding and great restaurant in Waimea were great.
Tex Drive in has amazing Malasadas and it's just a short drive away. :)
The house was spacious , very clean and had everything we needed. When we come back in a few years, we all would love to stay here again!!!
Thanks so much for sharing your home with us !"

"Four of us stayed 3 nights and can't recommend it enough. It sits upslope, away from the Hilo traffic, but you can drive into town in 5 minutes. Immaculately clean and organized, with everything you could ever need, from toiletries to plastic bags to beach towels to umbrellas. Bev was the perfect hostess and made us feel welcome, yet was never intrusive despite being just a breezeway away."
