  • Good!

"* Location/View: The Lai Nani grounds are very well maintained. The entrance walk features some lovely gardens, and then down the hill towards the living spaces there is a gazebo and a great view of the ocean. They have clearly put a lot of effort into the property and it shows. As you've probably heard, the Northeast side of the island get a lot of rain, and we definitely found that to be true during our stay. Finally, the resort itself is fairly isolated - probably about 15 minutes from Hilo or any other town. This is either a good thing or not depending on what you want so just be aware. * Interior: My first impression was "wow" - the bungalows have high ceilings, and a clean, sleek design style. Be careful about leaving food or dirty utensils laying in the sink - we found that the bugs were quick to come out. I suspect this is more a problem with the region rather than this specific unit - there is a lot of lush vegetation and rain, and so there's probably a lot more bugs too! * Sleeping Experience: The blinds closed enough for the room to be "pretty" dark. The mattress was fairly comfortable but it creaked really loudly whenever we moved which made it difficult to sleep. * TV and Internet: The TV was a nice flatscreen, and the internet was easy to set up and fairly fast."

  • Relaxing retreat

"My husband, baby & I traveled from Oahu (where we live) to the Big Island to meet up with family from the mainland and New Zealand for a few days. This vacation rental was perfect. It's quiet, clean and has everything you need to make for an enjoyable stay. Starr met us at the rental and was very friendly. The owners were also a pleasure to deal with. I loved that there was a pack and play we could use without having to bring ours with us. Highly recommended!!"

  • Hakalau Haven

"My entire family came over to Hawaii to celebrate my Son's wedding and Hakalau Haven was the perfect Haven to house all of us. It comfortably fit all 15 of us and even provided a pack and play for our little 1 year old. This will definitely be one of our most memorable family vacation! Starr was very accommodating getting us settled and allowing us a late check out! Thank you for the warm hospitality!"

Hakalau Travel Tips

Center Yourself with Hakalau Vacation Homes

As if a vacation wasn't relaxing enough, one in Hakalau has the potential to be especially calming. One meaning of this town name is, "To stare at as in meditation and allow to spread out." For those who wish to truly find inner peace while vacationing, you'll find it at Hakalau vacation homes with the aid of local meditation and yoga clinics. One meditative technique tries to combine the active and the passive, much as it is when waves crash against the shore. Many people like to head to the beach from Hakalau lodging, sit on the sand, and focus their thoughts. The white noise of the sea and the calm of the breeze aid help to achieve relaxation.

Fine Tune Your Meditation with a Class

Hakalau vacation homes are a short drive from Hilo, which is home to the Transcendental Meditation Practice. Learn the Kahuna style of meditation under the guidance of those who live that life. Use the Hakalau technique to lose the focus of your eyes and gain the focus of your mind.

Make Your Meditative Practice a Physical One

Big Island vacation rentals make it easy to find inner peace on vacation. These combine the Kahuna style of meditation with an active yoga practice. The Transcendental Meditation Practice also teaches yoga classes along the coast. Combine the meditation skills you have learned with a physical flow. Yoga Centered is another studio in Hilo. It offers a combination of Mysore, Flow and Pilates classes. Either of these studios can help to make your vacation one that gives you more than memories; it can also give you inner peace. Use the convenience of your Hakalau lodging to find yourself on the beach. It will be the most relaxing vacation of your life!
