  • Vacation + New Year's Eve

"A total romantic getaway...quiet, very clean bungalow, nice shower, clean sheets with a fully equipped kitchen. Now, let's talk about the boyfriend and I were invited to Garry's New Year's Eve party and we were so glad we attended as we had the best time. Garry was one of the most hospitable, giving and accommodating host, not to mention his amazing and genuine friends! His son Cory and his dog were total entertainers too! It was our first time in the island and . Garry exceeded our expectations and if we ever have a chance to go back to Hilo, I for sure will never have to research for a place again because I will reserve Garry's!"

  • Girls Holiday

"Sandy and Bob, we cannot say enough about your property and hospitality. Thanks for the banana bread and fresh pineapple on our arrival and the welcome from Bob as we got to the accommodation so late. We could not have wanted for more and had a full day when we first arrived to recovered from an International Flight and a hectic schedule in Oahu. My birthday spent on your Lanai was a restful day where we caught up on sleep and took in the peace and quiet. Yes the frogs were around but the noise was not intrusive. We watched the sun come up and down from a strategic spot on your lanai and made good use of the BBQ. Thanks for your help with ideas of things to see and do. We managed to fit in a Twilight Volcano visit along with a circle tour and the Hidden offerings of the Puna district. The property was clean and very well maintained. There were many condiments already at the accommodation we did not need much more. It was nice of Sandy to call and check we had everything we needed. Only sorry we did not get a chance to meet you directly but we caught a brief viewing of you as you did your gardening. We were happy to eat at the property and enjoy everything available on site while we toured around most of the day hours. We would happily return to both your property as a central point and also the Big Island. A car would be handy or a local tour that picks you up from site."

  • Relaxing retreat

"My husband, baby & I traveled from Oahu (where we live) to the Big Island to meet up with family from the mainland and New Zealand for a few days. This vacation rental was perfect. It's quiet, clean and has everything you need to make for an enjoyable stay. Starr met us at the rental and was very friendly. The owners were also a pleasure to deal with. I loved that there was a pack and play we could use without having to bring ours with us. Highly recommended!!"

  • Relaxing Ocean View

"Norm and Sheree are wonderful hosts and made me feel like a member of the family. The cottage is exactly as described - compact, very clean, comfortable, properly equipped for a vacation spot. I enjoyed the sound of the rain on the roof. The bamboo lining and exposed beams in the ceiling created a natural look to the cottage. Beautiful sunrises every day. Awesome star gazing. Close to plenty of activities (Umauma Zip Lines, for one and natural wonders (Akaka Falls, for another) - or just lounge on the hanging bed and read and relax. When you do go to Tex Drive Inn in Honokaa, be sure to bring malasadas for Norm and Sheree! They are wonderful people and do everything to ensure a happy stay. PS DO NOT MISS GOING TO MAUNA KEA."

Hakalau Travel Tips

Center Yourself with Hakalau Vacation Homes

As if a vacation wasn't relaxing enough, one in Hakalau has the potential to be especially calming. One meaning of this town name is, "To stare at as in meditation and allow to spread out." For those who wish to truly find inner peace while vacationing, you'll find it at Hakalau vacation homes with the aid of local meditation and yoga clinics. One meditative technique tries to combine the active and the passive, much as it is when waves crash against the shore. Many people like to head to the beach from Hakalau lodging, sit on the sand, and focus their thoughts. The white noise of the sea and the calm of the breeze aid help to achieve relaxation.

Fine Tune Your Meditation with a Class

Hakalau vacation homes are a short drive from Hilo, which is home to the Transcendental Meditation Practice. Learn the Kahuna style of meditation under the guidance of those who live that life. Use the Hakalau technique to lose the focus of your eyes and gain the focus of your mind.

Make Your Meditative Practice a Physical One

Big Island vacation rentals make it easy to find inner peace on vacation. These combine the Kahuna style of meditation with an active yoga practice. The Transcendental Meditation Practice also teaches yoga classes along the coast. Combine the meditation skills you have learned with a physical flow. Yoga Centered is another studio in Hilo. It offers a combination of Mysore, Flow and Pilates classes. Either of these studios can help to make your vacation one that gives you more than memories; it can also give you inner peace. Use the convenience of your Hakalau lodging to find yourself on the beach. It will be the most relaxing vacation of your life!
