  • Quiet Relaxing Guesthouse

"We four friends stayed a week at this guesthouse. The owners Sandy and Bob welcomed us and were so helpful and friendly during our visit. The property is clean, well maintained and with a spacious living area and lanaii with an ocean view. One bedroom is a master with an ensuite bathroom. The other has twin beds. There is another very nice bathroom close by. There is no stove, though a hot place and various electrical appliances, including microwave, are provided so cooking an evening meal is possible. The lainaii overlooks the ocean and is a great place to sit early in the morning watching the sky brighten and the day get underway, and also in the evening as the stars come out and the frogs begin their calls. We found a lot to do nearby and the 15 mile drive to Hilo was no problem. We would use this property again. A Hui Hou!"

  • very nice!

"Our family really enjoyed our stay! The house was simply decorated which is nice with young children. The location is very accessible from the hiway although there was a little traffic noise at night. Overall we would definitely come back to the house!"

  • Good!

"* Location/View: The Lai Nani grounds are very well maintained. The entrance walk features some lovely gardens, and then down the hill towards the living spaces there is a gazebo and a great view of the ocean. They have clearly put a lot of effort into the property and it shows. As you've probably heard, the Northeast side of the island get a lot of rain, and we definitely found that to be true during our stay. Finally, the resort itself is fairly isolated - probably about 15 minutes from Hilo or any other town. This is either a good thing or not depending on what you want so just be aware. * Interior: My first impression was "wow" - the bungalows have high ceilings, and a clean, sleek design style. Be careful about leaving food or dirty utensils laying in the sink - we found that the bugs were quick to come out. I suspect this is more a problem with the region rather than this specific unit - there is a lot of lush vegetation and rain, and so there's probably a lot more bugs too! * Sleeping Experience: The blinds closed enough for the room to be "pretty" dark. The mattress was fairly comfortable but it creaked really loudly whenever we moved which made it difficult to sleep. * TV and Internet: The TV was a nice flatscreen, and the internet was easy to set up and fairly fast."

  • Miss it already!

"My first stay on the "Hilo side" of the Big Island and I couldn't have picked a better spot! The views were incredible and the nights dark and quiet - you can hear the coqui frogs! The view from the lanai is amazing - I could have spent my entire time on the farm, but if you want more, Hilo is only 20 minutes away. Sheree was lovely to work with - available if you needed something, but respectful of your privacy. I had 10 days of a private, peaceful getaway and will most definitely be returning. My friend enjoyed the one-hole golf course as well - no greens fees!"
