  • Lovely home away from home

"The five of us (my family of 4 plus one of my kid's friend) had a fantastic time staying at this charming house near Hilo on Big Island. We stayed from 3/14/15 to 3/19/15 for 5 nights during my kids' spring break week. The house is clean and has fan in every room to keep us cool and comfortable. Kitchen is conveniently located in the center of the house and well equipped with everything that we need and can think of. It is near the ocean with a nice view, easy access to local highway. A nice lanai with bbq stove. Cell phone does not work well in the house (works outside only ) but the wifi in the house works great and my kids loved it. The owners are very nice and easy to deal with, the housekeeper Starr is very helpful, she greeted us at the house when we arrived at night. We really enjoyed our vacation."

  • Best vacation ever!!

"My husband and I spent two weeks at Hulili. The cottage was aesthetically delightful, elegantly simple and complete, like a second home with every comfort and convenience, including a full kitchen, umbrellas if it rained, a cooler, a guide to the Big Island, I mean everything you'd need, not to mention all of the most delicious bananas you could eat right from the farm - and longans. The location was perfect for exploring the Island, close enough to Hilo, Puna, the Volcano and even over to the Kona side for day trips. Sheree was a pleasure to meet, always bright, cheerful and helpful, a wonderful person! After a day out, the cottage was the perfect place to come back to relax and enjoy the fantastically beautiful sunsets, stars and sunrises. A truly blessed and magical place! We will always remember our time there in paradise."

  • Girls trip in paradise

"Our stay was fabulous. The house is comfortable, very clean and inviting and in a great location for exploring the Hilo side of the island. Getting used to the song of the male tree frogs and road noise at night took a little getting used to. Morning coffee and evening cocktails on the lanai with the fabulous ocean views was delightful. We even saw a few whales! There are many "must do's" on the island and we did just that--helicopter tour, zipline, segway tour of botanical gardens, volcano national park and the many fabulous beaches and waterfalls in the area. It was a very full 8 days for us. Thank you so much Sandy and Bob for your hospitality, conversation and recommendations for great local restaurants. It was a joy to meet you."

  • Good!

"* Location/View: The Lai Nani grounds are very well maintained. The entrance walk features some lovely gardens, and then down the hill towards the living spaces there is a gazebo and a great view of the ocean. They have clearly put a lot of effort into the property and it shows. As you've probably heard, the Northeast side of the island get a lot of rain, and we definitely found that to be true during our stay. Finally, the resort itself is fairly isolated - probably about 15 minutes from Hilo or any other town. This is either a good thing or not depending on what you want so just be aware. * Interior: My first impression was "wow" - the bungalows have high ceilings, and a clean, sleek design style. Be careful about leaving food or dirty utensils laying in the sink - we found that the bugs were quick to come out. I suspect this is more a problem with the region rather than this specific unit - there is a lot of lush vegetation and rain, and so there's probably a lot more bugs too! * Sleeping Experience: The blinds closed enough for the room to be "pretty" dark. The mattress was fairly comfortable but it creaked really loudly whenever we moved which made it difficult to sleep. * TV and Internet: The TV was a nice flatscreen, and the internet was easy to set up and fairly fast."
