"My family and I stayed in the Honu 2 for two nights and could not have asked for a more comfortable suite or for more accommodating hosts. Jim and Kepi have created a lush tropical oasis with all the creature comforts of home. The style, art work and vibe of the place was truly treat and getting the opportunity to meet Jim and Kepi and talk story on the lanai in the morning while drinking coffee was one of the highlights of our trip. We also enjoyed the closeness of Hilo and the Puna district which had many great places to eat and some extremely wild and scenic coastline vistas. I should mention that the eastside has been inhabited by the coqui frog and when show up you may be surprise by how many and how loud. I personally am a light sleeper and had absolutely no issues with it as I was lulled to sleep by the sounds of the universe. Finally on the business side Kepi was extremely accommodating to our needs and quick and prompt with all correspondence.
Thank you again Kepi we truly enjoyed meeting you and Jim and our stay at the Honu 2."

"The road to the property is reminiscent of old Hawaii with canopies of trees and gently flowing streams that give way to an open clearing where this home is located. Only a few minutes from Hilo but you feel a million miles away from everything. The ocean view greeted us as we excitedly entered the house to the sound of Hawaiian music they had left on for us. The house had every comfort you could ask for and my kids particularly enjoyed the closet full of toys and foosball table on the back patio. At night, the sound of rain lightly tapping on the sky lights was relaxing and made for a good night's sleep. On our second morning, some cows were grazing just over the fence from the backyard and my wife and kids had a ball taking pictures with them. My only regret was that we didn't get more than two nights here as we had stayed at several places on the island. Next time I'm on the big island I will spend more days on the Hilo side enjoying the beauty and laid back pace, and this house will be at the top of my list for places to stay!
Linda was a great host and called to make sure we had everything we needed. When we left, my wife had forgotten an article of clothing and she was kind enough to mail it out to us. That tells me Linda will go the extra mile to make sure your vacation is special! Thank you!"

"My family of 4 (girls ages 9 & 11) along with my parents (70s) stayed here for 4 nights in mid-June. We didn't know exactly what to expect of the house or the area, but we were pleasantly surprised. I forgot that the house doesn't have a/c, and when we arrived in late afternoon, the house was hot (naturally, because it was closed up). I was really concerned that we were going to roast, but after opening up the windows and letting those trade winds come through, it was delightful. And sleeping with those winds flowing through the house was unforgettable (with the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks and the birds singing their songs).
The house is beautiful. I particularly appreciated all the beautiful woodwork and artwork. The kitchen is well-stocked, and it was nice having some basics already there. The linens are plush, and the pillows are quality. I really can't think of anything I would change about the house or the stay. We all enjoyed the pool and hot tub, and just sitting out on the deck watching the ocean and listening to the world go by was so peaceful and relaxing. Oh, and the stars at night! The sight brought tears to my eyes (we never see a sky full of stars in the city).
We considered a few different properties for our trip, but I'm so glad we chose this one! Would love to return during whale season. I think we would never leave the deck!"

"We enjoyed this nicely appointed condo. Very comfortable. The setting in Carl Smith beach park is really nice. It doesn't have a view of the ocean, but there is a nice view of the forest canopy. And this is a small point, but for some it will be important: you can change the input on the TV so we were able to watch Netflix movies using our Chromecast fob and the apartment wifi, which we really enjoyed."
