  • Very quiet and relaxing

"We found the cottage exactly as pictured. The house is situated on a dead end street and we only saw 3 cars pass in 7 night stay. If you want to cook on a stove choose elsewhere. But for us we were out exploring the island and eating at all the wonderful restaurants so we had no use for a stove. The house is clean. The Hilo side of the island does get rain everyday. It comes and goes quickly and during our stay it mainly rained in the night. Due to the constant moisture (over 100 inches of rain a year) there are mold issues in the shower. Speaking of the showers they are roomy and very luxurious. I wouldn't recommend this house for 2 couples, but a family of 4 it would work great. There is no privacy except for the bathroom. One must have a car due to it's location. The local (within walking distance) shops are closed more than open. The bakery is not very good! The coffee shop doesn't open until 8am. Try Moonstruck in Hilo for French pastries and Sombats in Hilo for Thai. Both worth trying more than once. It seems the good restrauants have limited open hours so check yelp for the times they are open. Both are worth multiple visits!!!"

  • Great time, great place, great host!

"We were a first reluctant to spend part of our vacation in Hilo since we heard that it rains a lot. It does, but mostly at night, and during our stay those few day showers did not bother us at all. This part of the island is spectacular with its waterfalls, volcanoes, valleys and little towns. We had a great time. Our accommodation was immaculate. A spacious one bedroom apartment in a quiet neighborhood, with great views and everything you may need was very, very clean and comfortable. Our host Bev was interesting and pleasant to talk to, and she had a lot of information to help us get around. A perfectionist that she is, Bev has this place set up so that, once there, you will not want to leave. Thanks, Bev, we’ll be back."

  • Awesome time

"My husband and I spent our 2nd anniversary there....three glorious days. The rental was very wonderful. We felt right at home and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and the bed very comfy!!! The Lanai was perfect for morning coffee or relaxation in the afternoon. It was some of the best snorkeling I have ever had....and I have done done it a fair amount. The tide pools were just an easy walk across the street. We rode the bikes and sat in the private Jacuzzi every night. Everything was very clean. We had some problems with the internet wifi and the maintenance guy was Johnny on the spot with some resolve. The owners were easy to communicate with and returned our deposit money very quickly after our return home. We shall return soon."

  • Wonderful Stay In Hilo Home

"This was a wonderful find close enough to Hilo for us to enjoy Merrie Monarch Festival week yet in the country that was lush with pastoral views. The home was spotless, very open and large size to accommodate my husband and I and our adult daughter and adult niece. The property is over an acre large and there is an ocean view from the large windows. It was wonderful to just sit and enjoy the sounds of nature, hear the birds, watch the goats and cows next door, and breathe in the fresh air after the frequent rains in Hilo. While there we enjoyed outings to the Volcano Winery, Volcano National Park, Ken's Diner (near the airport), Don's (local food), Zippy's, and Starbucks. KTA grocery store was close by so we ate several meals in given the large and well stocked kitchen and stove. Cynthia, the landlady, was very nice and presented us with some fresh, local apple bananas one day for our breakfast; she was accessible throughout our stay. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay and would definitely stay here again should our vacation plans include Hilo."
