  • Absolutely breathtaking!

"We stayed at Heaven's door for 8 nights and I can't tell you how perfect this place was. We've stayed in ocean front condos before but this was a completely different type of "treat." The home was immaculate and welcoming. It's in a great location for hitting all the spots on the Big Island. It was always our goal to get back around 4 in the afternoon so we could still sit and enjoy the privacy of this property. The grounds are just beautiful and feeding the Koi fish was a huge highlight of mine everyday! They would swim over as soon as we pulled into the driveway. I loved it! It's an absolutely incredible property an an absolutely incredible price! Thank you so much, Linda, for sharing your beautiful property with us. We have lasting memories!"

  • Very quiet and relaxing

"We found the cottage exactly as pictured. The house is situated on a dead end street and we only saw 3 cars pass in 7 night stay. If you want to cook on a stove choose elsewhere. But for us we were out exploring the island and eating at all the wonderful restaurants so we had no use for a stove. The house is clean. The Hilo side of the island does get rain everyday. It comes and goes quickly and during our stay it mainly rained in the night. Due to the constant moisture (over 100 inches of rain a year) there are mold issues in the shower. Speaking of the showers they are roomy and very luxurious. I wouldn't recommend this house for 2 couples, but a family of 4 it would work great. There is no privacy except for the bathroom. One must have a car due to it's location. The local (within walking distance) shops are closed more than open. The bakery is not very good! The coffee shop doesn't open until 8am. Try Moonstruck in Hilo for French pastries and Sombats in Hilo for Thai. Both worth trying more than once. It seems the good restrauants have limited open hours so check yelp for the times they are open. Both are worth multiple visits!!!"

  • Great condo in a great location

"We arrived to a clean and well-stocked condo. It's not the Ritz, folks, but it was clean, comfortable, well-stocked, and in a perfect location. We enjoyed the view and seeing whales from the lanai with the binoculars provided. The location was convenient to our planned activities, yet away from any noisy town traffic. Our favorite part was snorkeling next door with the turtles. We went just before sunset and there were about 30 turtles in the lagoon. We hiked around volcanoes national park, and enjoyed the fresh produce and the lilikoi butters at the farmers market. But, the most amazing day was at Imiloa planetarium. We went for an hour show and none of us was ready to leave after 4 hours, including our four year old. We have been to planetaria in Los Angeles and Chicago, but prefer this one. Our presenter, Cam, also works at Mauna Kea on the telescopes. He was very informative as well as patient and inspiring for our child. The food at Imiloa was the best we tasted of any restaurant in Hilo. This condo was a great place to stay and we will definitely try to stay in this unit again."

  • Great accommodations, well-located for main sights

"The pictures are accurate of the inside of the house. It is a lovely bungalo with lots of light, clean and very well taken care of. It does sit in the middle of a clearing, so it does not get shade and can get hot in the afternoon. There is good cross ventilation, though, and effective ceiling fans. The kitchen is well supplied with utensils, there is a tv and DVDs but no internet. The host, Linda, is friendly and helpful. While living room and kitchen windows do not have curtains (no real reason to since there is no other building visible and only one car went by on the private road to the house in our three days there), there are blinds in the bedrooms. The setting is beautiful, feeling very tropical. The house is about 2 to 3 miles off highway 11, roughly a third of the way from Hilo to Volcanoes National Park. So it is relatively close to Hilo, the volcano, and to Pahoa and Puna. We would certainly go back another time."
