"Sea Watch is a beautifully designed, artfully decorated little jewel on the edge of the Pacific. It is clean and well maintained. It is open, with wonderful views of the ocean from every room, and the sound of the surf in the background. The lanai is a perfect place to watch the ocean. The house is situated in an inlet on the coast south of Hilo. Waves crash against the lava cliffs, and one can look down the coast to either side of the house at the tropical vegetation and the constantly changing weather.
The owner, Sam, lives next door and is friendly but unobtrusive. As others have noted, she is attentive to every need and detail. The neighborhood is quiet, with vacation homes (many quite beautiful). For quiet and privacy it is hard to beat, but one must drive a bit to get to the nearest towns.
The weather is constantly changing, from humid and rainy to evening breezes that are cool and soothing. Rain storms don't last longer than an hour or so, and generally come at night (another soothing sound!). And always the sound of tropical birdsong.
All in all a lovely place to spend time, perfect to just get away and be quiet, or a good temporary home from which to explore."

"Great view. Whale watching from the balcony with 5min drive to downtown Hilo. Nothing like sleeping to the sound of ocean waves and waking to watch the sunrise over the ocean from your lanai. We bought fresh Mahi Mahi from the fish market and grilled it on the grill and ate it with fresh fruit and vegetables from the farmers market. All the tastes, sites and sounds that you want from a Hawaii experience"

Excellent place to stay when visiting Hilo, Hawaii
"We only spent 1 night at the property, but we really liked it and would stay there again. It's not a huge place, but it was big enough for our family of four. The pull-out couch was very comfortable. We were staying in a resort in Kona and needed a quick place to stay for one night in Hilo so we could sightsee there. I had picked out the place before leaving for vacation just in case we decided to spend the night in Hilo. We made a last minute decision and Ronnie, the owner, was very accommodating and worked very hard to get us booked. We really appreciated her help and understanding. The property manager, Star, was great also. This house allowed us to enjoy what life should be like in Hawaii, laid-back and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Although it didn't have all the pools, we liked it much better than staying in the resort. The hot tub was the highlight for our daughter. The huge bathrooms were awesome and we loved having breakfast on the lanai and watching all the geckos. Since we were staying only one night, we didn't need a stove, but if we were staying more than one night, it would be good to have a stove top to cook meals on. It was nice having a refrigerator for us to use for the short time we were there. I couldn't get the door to open up far enough to put in the pizza box because of the folding door. It didn't keep us from storing the leftover pizza, but if that could be fixed some way, it might be helpful if large items need to go in. We weren't sure where we were supposed to take the garbage. Might want to add that to the great packet of information you provided. I agree with some other reviews, that a coffee table would be nice to set plates and glasses on when eating inside, but since we were only there one night and had breakfast outside, that wasn't a problem for this stay. I did have a hard time deciding where to park and wasn't sure parking on the grass was okay. It might be nice to have the parking marked some way to help with that. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again. Allowing people to rent for only 1 night versus a minimum night stay is a huge advantage for this property. Otherwise, we would have looked for a hotel room."

"My husband and I spent 4 days here with our 2 teenage daughters while on springbreak. We had one of the studios with 3 beds and it worked out great... plenty of room. The experience couldn't be more different from the conventional hotel. Its a large property surrounded by field and farmland. Early mornings were spent drinking coffee on the porch listening to birds while overlooking the ocean. We made hot breakfast everymorning and ate on the porch before heading out for the day. The kitchenette is adequate for basic food prep. Our hosts, Vicki and Ben are a very warm and personable couple who shared knowledge, stories and fruit. There was a goodie basket in our room on arrival and fresh flowers in a vase on the kitchen table. The room and property is very clean and well kept and we were able to take walks along the private road...Great view of Muana Kea covered in snow! The house is well located on the east side of the island to use for a jumping off point to visit Hilo and below (Volcano NP, etc) and also Honokaa & Waipio Valley. We stayed at three locations during our visit to the big island and this was our favorite by far. Definitely we will return! Thank you Vicki and Ben :-)"
