  • Hakalau Haven

"My entire family came over to Hawaii to celebrate my Son's wedding and Hakalau Haven was the perfect Haven to house all of us. It comfortably fit all 15 of us and even provided a pack and play for our little 1 year old. This will definitely be one of our most memorable family vacation! Starr was very accommodating getting us settled and allowing us a late check out! Thank you for the warm hospitality!"

  • Beautiful view and wonderful, comfortable home

"Mahalo! We enjoyed staying in your lovely home in July and wish we could have stayed longer. We really appreciate all that the owner did to make our first trip to Hawaii a positive one. Steve was extremely helpful and answered all communication immediately. Our deposit was refunded before we even made it home. This home was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed watching the sunrise each morning while having our morning coffee on the deck. It was perfect for our two families and was conveniently located to Richardson Beach, the waterfalls, Volcanoes National Park and Hilo airport. The Big Island has so much to see, and we will never forget our adventures here."

  • Hurrican Proof

"this is the second time we are staying at Lopakas Lodge, and it gets better every time. The stay was wonderful, and Bev, the host is even better. She has maintained the lodge so that it feels like a new place every time have rented. This recent stay had us worried about the structural integrity of the lodge during Hurricane Iselle. The lodge withstood the storm, and most importantly our 5 y.o. son slept right through the storm. The best part is Bev treated us like family and offered her house and provide us guidance on what steps we should take in case of a situation caused by the storm. e are very thankful that we were at the lodge during this event. We will definitely be back. Mahalo Bev!"

  • Tropical Paradise....

"To have the ability to prepare your own meals with the local produce, to enjoy the morning sunrise with a cup of local coffee, to listen to the frogs and waves at night as a lullaby, worth so much more then the nightly price. Very clean, well supplied, decent decor, nice shower, and lots of room. Our family, which includes a 17 year old, was very delighted to have Reeds as our home base for the several nights we stayed. Seeing as we paid over $400 the night before to stay up at the Volcano, our expectations were set low due to the price. Yes, the building is older and its a tad kitche, the locals could scare some not from a larger city...but it was exactly what the doctor ordered. We are all very busy and slowing down to enjoy life is not normal protocol for us however our stay here at Reeds in Hilo made you want to...and so you do."
