"This condo was small but clean and well organized. The owner has taken great pride in keeping everything neat and in its place. The kitchen was small but had all the necessities. The living and dining area was tastefully decorated but different from the pictures shown. The lani had a beautiful view of the lagoon. The condo's WIFI was reliable and easy to access. The unit has towels, beach towels and snorkel gear. There is a common laundry room on each floor and it costs $1.25 a load. The condos location is a 10 out of 10. Close to all the popular tourist sites and the ocean lagoon is steps away. That lagoon is paradise with crystal clear water and snorkeling with the sea turtles. The lagoon is both spring fed and ocean water, so you have cool water and warm water spots, clear water and salty water layers, high tide and low tide. You have to see it to appreciate how beautiful it is. It is very popular with the locals. The only downfall with the condo is that there isn't any air conditioning. There is only a ceiling fan over the dining table and then small fans in the bedrooms. I did not find that we had a breeze and the condo was hot. Ceiling fans in the bedrooms would be a great addition to the room. It did cool down somewhat in the evening, but if you are sensitive to the heat you would have to consider this. I would stay here again and wouldn't have any problem recommending it to someone."

"Definitely a great place and we were so lucky to find this gem. Looking forward to our next visit soon! Great location! So easy to get around the island from here! Best of all feels like a home away from home ! Great hosts! Sophie, Dave and the 3 pups!"

"All of the great things other reviewers say about this apartment are true. View from the dining area was absolutely beautiful. Roomy apartment with everything you need. Short drive from Hilo. Wifi worked well. Warm welcome from the owner. I would definitely recommend this place."

"Hilo Hale is conveniently located about 10 minutes drive from downtown Hilo, and close to the KTA grocery store and Prince Kuhio mall. At the same time, it is set in a large garden in a quiet and safe neighbourhood.
The house is spacious, clean and comfortable, as well as light and bright. With plenty of windows to open for a through breeze, the lack of air conditioning is not an issue. The kitchen is rather old-fashioned, but functional with the usual appliances in good working order. No oven and no dishwasher is a bit of a shame in an otherwise well equipped house, but with a toaster oven and the huge old porcelain sink we did fine. The cookware was good and there were a few staples waiting for us, but surprisingly no foil, plastic wrap, or ziplock bags.
Washer and dryer are fine, although located outside and under the kitchen in a very low-ceilinged space where anyone over 5’2 would have to stoop. Laundry detergent was supplied, but nothing else.
It was lovely to have a bathtub, not only a shower, in a nice bathroom. The one bathroom was enough for the two of us, but for four people there could be a bit of a traffic jam.
The location is an excellent base for trips to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, to Pahoa and Puna, to the string of beaches along Kalanianaole Avenue, to the Hamakua coast, and is also quite handy to the new Saddle Road."
