  • Hurrican Proof

"this is the second time we are staying at Lopakas Lodge, and it gets better every time. The stay was wonderful, and Bev, the host is even better. She has maintained the lodge so that it feels like a new place every time have rented. This recent stay had us worried about the structural integrity of the lodge during Hurricane Iselle. The lodge withstood the storm, and most importantly our 5 y.o. son slept right through the storm. The best part is Bev treated us like family and offered her house and provide us guidance on what steps we should take in case of a situation caused by the storm. e are very thankful that we were at the lodge during this event. We will definitely be back. Mahalo Bev!"

  • Beautiful Home with Ocean View in the relaxed setting of Hakalau

"For vacationers who look for something more relaxing than the hotel resorts in Kona-Kaliua, this beautiful home in Hakalau on the east side of the Big Island has plenty of natural scenery to offer. Only 15 min drive from Hilo, the next larger town, the house sits off the road on a hill with view of the Ocean. The hosts are an extremely nice couple who take pride in treating their guests well. We were a family of four and enjoyed every second in this beautiful home. It cannot get much better."

  • Charm, Taste, and a True Hawaiian Treat

"Jim and Kepi have designed a wonderful bungalow setting in the heart of paradise, with attention to detail to make it beautiful and comfortable, and clean. Escape from the noise of the city and enjoy the feel of the island, but very reasonable access Hilo and surrounding smaller cities and services, beaches, Volcano National Park, and more. My wife and I enjoyed the charm of the Lava room and would recommend it to any seeking a comfortable, clean, and very Hawaiian feel and a jungle surrounding. Take the time to get to know Jim and Kepi and your stay will be even more charming. Comfortable bed, well set kitchen, very enjoyable living area and great wifi (10 to 20 Mbs down, 1 to 5 upload) and good cell coverage so you enjoy the beauty without a forced disconnect from communications. Thank you Kepi and Jim. Will always hold fond memories of our stay in your paradise. M&L"

  • Great place to get away.

"This is a very pleasant place to spend time. The waves crashing on the rocks are soothing and lull you to sleep. The frogs and other wild life are loud at night but you get used to it. The high speed internet was a pleasant surprise. The house has everything you need except air conditioning. There are a lot of places in Hawaii that don't have AC, we got used to it after a couple days. There is usually a light to moderate breeze that is very nice. We found the heart in the lava flow in the back yard as well as the horse's head. I challenge you to find it during your stay. I would recommend this house for anyone that wants to live like a local. We loved it."
