  • Better than we could imagine!

"My family truly enjoyed our stay at this fantastic home. We were blown away at how huge and awesome this place is. The rooms are large and the entire house is very clean. The kitchen is fully supplied with everything you need except the food. We loved the huge dining table for our meals as well as our game area. Towels and linens are fresh-smelling and plentiful and the showers have a lot of hot water. The decor is well-thought of and very nice. The only cons were: 1) no A/C and we were there in the middle of August so it was quite warm inside... and 2) the house is in a residential area so you have to put up with the sounds of having dogs, roosters, and vehicles nearby. But we knew that when we made the reservations and were not surprised by any of that. We would definitely stay at this property again and recommend it for groups wanting a family-type place to stay. Thank you, Joyce!"

  • Relaxing Ocean View

"Norm and Sheree are wonderful hosts and made me feel like a member of the family. The cottage is exactly as described - compact, very clean, comfortable, properly equipped for a vacation spot. I enjoyed the sound of the rain on the roof. The bamboo lining and exposed beams in the ceiling created a natural look to the cottage. Beautiful sunrises every day. Awesome star gazing. Close to plenty of activities (Umauma Zip Lines, for one and natural wonders (Akaka Falls, for another) - or just lounge on the hanging bed and read and relax. When you do go to Tex Drive Inn in Honokaa, be sure to bring malasadas for Norm and Sheree! They are wonderful people and do everything to ensure a happy stay. PS DO NOT MISS GOING TO MAUNA KEA."

  • May retreat

"Rented house for 6 nights. Very nice & website was accurate as portrayed. Spectatcular site on ocean; eating all meals on patio enjoying the view & sounds of birds. Would have benefitted us with instructions of how to operate TV in living room and channel guide. Also no a/c which wasn't needed except for mid afternoon hours, bedrooms were hot for siestas. Kitchen was well appointed to cook for our foursome however tips would be to sharpen knives, fix icemaker & during last 2 days the dishwasher wouldn't work. Overall our stay was enjoyable. Driving the 4 miles off main road took awhile due to 35 mph. Hilo was 1/2 hr but with construction seemed like much longer. Once on the property we really loved it! Great property to enjoy with friends. 2nd bedroom had no tv. Would recommend!"
