"We stayed for five nights and felt so at home. Our host sent us lots of information beforehand and at the house there was also a notebook with tips. The house itself is lovingly built and has all the comforts of home. The well-stocked cleaning supplies and kitchen paper towels motivate you to keep the place clean! The highlights were seeing cows walk past and hearing them moooooo in the morning and evening, accompanied by the egrets. Don't miss going to the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden, just minutes away."

"This home is jaw droppingly awesome. Grand rooms with high ceilings, original vintage fixtures with updated modern touches in kitchen and bathroom. Comfortably slept both sets of our parents as well as ourselves and two small children. The porch and it's view is amazing. Just amazing. Pudding and her ohana are prefect hosts and share the home's history as well as it's unique owners. A short walk to downtown Hilo and the farmers market. Take the drive up the coast to see the falls, have some malasadas at Tex drive-in and drive through Parker Ranch. Visit Richardson's Beach for a shady black sand beach (with some green). Perfect for small kids and snorkeling. Get up early and see the sun rise over the glow of Kiluaea.
Steeped in history and character. We loved our stay at Hale Alani and will be back. If you love vintage charm and old world Hilo this is the place for you."

"We are locals from Kona and "staycation" on the Hilo side. We have stayed at Uli Kai four times and will definitely go back. It is cheaper than staying at a hotel and the location is quiet and private. It is not fancy but there is a lot of space and it was clean. I don't know if the pool was heated or if it was just really sunny but it was the perfect temperature. There is also a nice big yard with fruit trees. Right across the street from the ocean.
The owner Pao makes the process so easy. She always responds quickly. I booked everything from my cell phone. HPP is about 20 min from Hilo, 10 min to Keaau town, and is also a good place to stay if you want to go to Volcano National Park."

"It was perfect. A big clean house with everything we need in a beautiful environment. We had a beautiful view, a wonderful garden and much space. The checkin and checkout was very simple. Randall was very friendly and helpful."
