  • Home Away from Home!

"First of all, let me say that everything mentioned in the description of the home:the description itself, the photos, the amenities...all are accurate. What you see and what you read about are exactly what you get...only so much more.Everything you would need has been provided. We felt at home the comment we walked into Sam's lovely home and met our gracious hostess who talked to us about the house. Her pertinent information made settling in so much easier. Sea Watch has a magnificent ocean view and the sound of the surf breaking on the lava cliffs is unforgettable. After a day of sight-seeing, coming back to Sea Watch, sitting on the lanai and grilling fresh fish became our ritual. We so enjoyed the peace and the wild beauty of this home. There were so many places such as the botanical gardens, black beach, volcano, and farmers' markets ( and so many more beautiful sights) to visit and enjoy. Or, just to stay at home for the day and have coffee outside and watch the brilliant sunrise over the ocean take a walk, buy fresh fish for dinner and just chill. We highly recommend this home. Thanks again Sam for opening your beautiful home to us.We hope to return to it. At Sea Watch Life is Good!!"

  • One unforgettable holiday

"We rented Uli Kai to meet up with our far flung family and spend our Golden Wedding there together. We were not disappointed. The house was easily found thanks to the instructions sent by the owner and was wonderfully situated with easy access to the nearby, picturesque, lava covered shoreline where we would go in the mornings and watch the turtles play in the waves. The house itself easily accommodated all ten of us with adequate privacy. The kitchen, with immediate outside access to the car park, was particularly well equipped, clean and convenient for dining either at the adjacent table or on the screened balcony. There was little noise from the odd car which passed and the fenced garden with its own lava flow, planted out with orchids and other tropical flowers was a delight. The pool and jacuzzi were added options for relaxing and were of particular joy to the youngsters aged eight to sixteen, amusing them for hours on end. We did not use the TV once. We hope life affords us the opportunity one day to spend another holiday there."

  • Hawaii stay near Hilo

"We stayed at the beach house for 5 days the end of Aug 2014. This was our favorite part of our stay in Hawaii. The area was lush and tropical, and everything I envisioned when arriving on Hawaii (it was our 1st visit). We could see and hear the ocean a block away and feel the cool ocean breezes. The house was in a small subdivision of homes, but we felt like we were secluded. There were tall tropical trees surrounding the house for privacy. The wrap around porch was refreshingly cool in the evening with a grill, 2 tables and chairs and a hammock. The rental is even bigger in person than the pictures show. The kitchen, living room, and dining area were all open air. It felt like you were outside with the windows on all 3 walls. There was a small single air conditioner unit in the dining/living room area that we didn't even have to use. All of the three sided windows in the living room area could be left open even when raining, because of the generous lanai overhang. There were large floor fans that we moved into the bedrooms at night for an extra breeze. There were plenty of board games, books for entertainment and bikes in the lower garage area. One afternoon, we just chilled at the house watching local Hawaii news on the cable tv. If we wanted to cool off, the ocean was just a block away. The house was equipped with everything you could possibly need for home cooked meals. We had ice from the ice maker, there was a dishwasher, all kinds of pots, pans, dishware, etc. In fact, one night we cooked steaks on the grill, and ate outside on the porch. I felt like royalty. The master bedroom was spacious with its own private 2 sink vanity. It was on one side of the house and the other 2 bedrooms on the other side with their own shared bath. The other bedrooms were a bit smaller but still plenty roomy. There was plenty of storage for luggage and clothes. I liked the general location of the rental because it was far enough away from town to feel "away from it all" but close enough to be convenient to get groceries, shop or do tourist events (like ziplinine, helicopter rides, farmers market). The landlord was very helpful with tidbits about local attractions and upcoming events. He told us about local swimming spots like Okanakaha Beach Park (just past the ice cream shop on the right) going towards Hilo. The ponds were shallower and warmer (good for the non-swimmers in our group). I would highly recommend this rental to future vacationers."
