"We recently stayed here for a week with our 3 children (1,2 & 13) and can not wait to come back. We made so many memories swimming everyday in the pool and playing games on the beautiful deck! The location is also amazing. Hilo was an easy 20 min drive but we actually spent more time exploring some amazing spots in the other direction (near Pahoa) like Ahalanui Beach Park, Champagne Pond, Kapaho Tide Pools. The house is much closer to all of these awesome must see Big Island spots than Hilo which made it so convenient for our little ones and their napping schedules. The house is perfect for families with children, the pool is fenced in and the yard is so lush and beautiful. The owners Jack and Tonya are so nice and welcoming gave great suggestions on nearby sites to see. Tonya even brought over fresh fruit from their mango tree. We will definitely be coming back to the Big Island and staying at this beautiful house again. It is definitely home away from home and we would recommend this house to anyone wanting to see the beautiful big island of Hawaii."

"Hilo Hale is conveniently located about 10 minutes drive from downtown Hilo, and close to the KTA grocery store and Prince Kuhio mall. At the same time, it is set in a large garden in a quiet and safe neighbourhood.
The house is spacious, clean and comfortable, as well as light and bright. With plenty of windows to open for a through breeze, the lack of air conditioning is not an issue. The kitchen is rather old-fashioned, but functional with the usual appliances in good working order. No oven and no dishwasher is a bit of a shame in an otherwise well equipped house, but with a toaster oven and the huge old porcelain sink we did fine. The cookware was good and there were a few staples waiting for us, but surprisingly no foil, plastic wrap, or ziplock bags.
Washer and dryer are fine, although located outside and under the kitchen in a very low-ceilinged space where anyone over 5’2 would have to stoop. Laundry detergent was supplied, but nothing else.
It was lovely to have a bathtub, not only a shower, in a nice bathroom. The one bathroom was enough for the two of us, but for four people there could be a bit of a traffic jam.
The location is an excellent base for trips to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, to Pahoa and Puna, to the string of beaches along Kalanianaole Avenue, to the Hamakua coast, and is also quite handy to the new Saddle Road."

"We stayed at the Riverhouse HideAway and we had a wonderful stay. The first night we got there it was raining so hard and it was very dark. Mozela came out to greet us with an umbrella and help us find our way to the back where our entrance was. So nice! The bedroom was clean and cozy as was the rest of the house. There were little notes to help us find our way around the rental. When we got up the next morning...well that was when we were in love with our rental. The backyard was beautiful and the river wasn't a little stream but was quite large! Running all the way though the backyard down the mountain. Breathtaking to say the least! The landscaping was amazing well taken care of and the flowers were gorgeous. I must say for this time of year, I felt we had the best flowers in all of Hilo, after driving around town and hardly seeing any flowers.
Originally, I had been a bit concerned with the owners living upstairs but it was not an issue at all! We had family come to hang out a couple of times during our stay and they loved it. The only thing was the small driveway. I think I missed the turn about 80% of the time and had to turn back around. But that's my fault for not paying attention. I would definitely go back and rent this rental again. It was a great find! Thank you Mozela and Glen!"
