"Everything about the Lopaka lodge surpassed all our expectations. Beverly thought of everything imaginable for the vacationer's needs to guarantee a beautiful, fun, stress-free stay in her clean, comfortable, private home. We were greeted with a thorough walk-through of each room & impressed with how well-stocked every room was --kitchen had everything! Bathroom had everything! Bedroom, closets, nice overhead fans & windows for cross ventilation. Lots of thought and good taste. (I didn't feel like she stocked the place with her hand-me-downs from her own home). Everything seemed new & fresh! We had morning coffee/tea on the lanai, breakfast at the table, packed lunches for our very full all day outings, either dinners out at great local restaurants (Kenichis) or fresh fish bought at Suisan market for a home cooked dinner. It was so nice to come home & rest in a quiet & private place after a long day! The only bad thing I can say about the place is that Beverly's Lopaka lodge has marred us for life, because it will be impossible to find anything else quite as nice without spending a fortune! Much love & appreciation, Cathy & Fred"

"We came up to the Big Island for a baseball Tournament and Joyce was so helpful about her rental. I called other rentals but wouldn't allow us to have 10 people in there homes. When I talked to Joyce I explained my situation and she was very understandable. When we got to the house we were amazed it was so beautiful and roomy. The only down fall was it was hot but the house has a lot of windows. We talked to the neighbors and they said yes the weather has been very hot the last couple of weeks so we can't control the weather. Our overall stay was wonderful and the kitchen area is amazing lots of room for cooking and not having to eat out every day."

"Hilo Hale is conveniently located about 10 minutes drive from downtown Hilo, and close to the KTA grocery store and Prince Kuhio mall. At the same time, it is set in a large garden in a quiet and safe neighbourhood.
The house is spacious, clean and comfortable, as well as light and bright. With plenty of windows to open for a through breeze, the lack of air conditioning is not an issue. The kitchen is rather old-fashioned, but functional with the usual appliances in good working order. No oven and no dishwasher is a bit of a shame in an otherwise well equipped house, but with a toaster oven and the huge old porcelain sink we did fine. The cookware was good and there were a few staples waiting for us, but surprisingly no foil, plastic wrap, or ziplock bags.
Washer and dryer are fine, although located outside and under the kitchen in a very low-ceilinged space where anyone over 5’2 would have to stoop. Laundry detergent was supplied, but nothing else.
It was lovely to have a bathtub, not only a shower, in a nice bathroom. The one bathroom was enough for the two of us, but for four people there could be a bit of a traffic jam.
The location is an excellent base for trips to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, to Pahoa and Puna, to the string of beaches along Kalanianaole Avenue, to the Hamakua coast, and is also quite handy to the new Saddle Road."
