  • Awesome Stay !

"I had an extremely pleasant stay. Cindy and her family were very responsive. I had the good fortune to be there during the rare event of a Hurricane (Iselle) --- I felt very safe in the house. I can't say enough wonderful about the home. It had lovely, peaceful views. I loved the wrap around lanai - had breakfast every morning while looking out to the Ocean and the neighboring mountain side views. I truly hope to be able to visit The Big Island again and would definitely stay in this home again. There was nothing that disappointed me. :) :-)"

  • Restful retreat.

"I stayed a week at Jack & Tonya's wonderful home. It was quiet, peaceful & spotless. My husband & I are familiar with the area as we vacation in Puna 1-2 times a year since 1996. So sometimes we want to spend a whole day not even leaving the rental and just relaxing and forgetting about our hectic city life. This was a great spot to get away from it all. Somedays we would hike in Volcano, out to Shipman Beach or just around Puna and somedays we just stayed at the house relaxing by the pool and soaking up warm Puna sunshine. Every morning started with a walk to the cliffs to watch the morning waves and every evening ended with a walk to the cliffs to have a "Puna" sunset. Tonya was very attentive and helpful. We really enjoyed talking with Tui (what a brilliant, insightful and all around cool kid!). And we totally fell in love with Bebe the dog. If you are looking for a home base to explore the East side or just a place to kick back and chill for a week, this is the spot."

  • We Love, love, love the Pepeekeo house

"How do you describe Paradise on Earth? We were a party of six adults who thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this house, which felt like “home”, for two weeks. Everything we needed was already there; all we had to do was go grocery shopping. The atmosphere was perfect, from the breathtaking sunrises visible from all rooms of the house, to relaxing by the pool in the beautiful landscaped backyard or reading a book on the screened in lanai that overlooks the sea in the afternoons, to falling asleep to the music of the coqui frogs and the rain at night. (There has been a sofa added to the living room, which made it nice for everyone to gather in the evenings.) The Location is perfect to visit Akaka Falls, Mauna Kea, the Volcanoes or all the little beaches we found while exploring the coastline. We fell in love with the people on the Hilo side of the Island, they were warm and welcoming, much more so than on the Kona side of the Island. Don't miss: Kens Pancake House in Hilo (Sumo!) Richardson's black sand beach on Kamehameha St. Each time we went there, we would find several large sea turtles resting in the crystal clear pools. The Farmer's Market in Hilo on Wednesday and Saturday has great local fruits, vegetables and souvenirs which help to support the local people and the community. If mosquito’s love you, like they love me, there is a lady selling “Lavender insect repellent” by Pelindaba, under the tents. It works and smells nice! You can get very inexpensive snorkel gear and water shoes at Wal-Mart. You will want at least the shoes or you will cut your feet up on the volcanic rocks. (We left ours for the next guests) Last, but most definitely not least, is the property manager Randall. Randall was very warm and attentive without being intrusive. He had the house in perfect welcoming condition and offered suggestions for things to do on the rainy days. I have already recommended this home away from home to our family and friends We've only been gone four days, and I am already “Home sick”. We will most definitely be back. Aloha.....Mahalo Nui Loa"

  • Akaka Falls VRBO

"This is a great home to stay at if you're attending Merrie Monarch. It's 15-20 minutes to Hilo town (or Imiloa for the cultural events that go on there) and just another 5-10 minutes to the Edith Kanakaole Stadium and the wonderful craft fairs throughout town and the hotels. The oceanview from the lanai is so beautiful regardless of whether it rains or not you can't help but absorb all the different moods that weather changes reflect; not to say the least about the early morning sunrise off the ocean and the various cloud formations that help your imagination run rampant. The house was comfortable for four adults and one keiki. We also took up the studio next door with a last minute adult add-on. Both homes were just nice and comfortable. Being near Aka ka Falls in the early morning hours as the sun begins to rise you catch the rain the comes down from the mountains...quite refreshing . All in all it was a great place to stay and we all had a wonderful time."
