"My husband and I spent 4 days here with our 2 teenage daughters while on springbreak. We had one of the studios with 3 beds and it worked out great... plenty of room. The experience couldn't be more different from the conventional hotel. Its a large property surrounded by field and farmland. Early mornings were spent drinking coffee on the porch listening to birds while overlooking the ocean. We made hot breakfast everymorning and ate on the porch before heading out for the day. The kitchenette is adequate for basic food prep. Our hosts, Vicki and Ben are a very warm and personable couple who shared knowledge, stories and fruit. There was a goodie basket in our room on arrival and fresh flowers in a vase on the kitchen table. The room and property is very clean and well kept and we were able to take walks along the private road...Great view of Muana Kea covered in snow! The house is well located on the east side of the island to use for a jumping off point to visit Hilo and below (Volcano NP, etc) and also Honokaa & Waipio Valley. We stayed at three locations during our visit to the big island and this was our favorite by far. Definitely we will return! Thank you Vicki and Ben :-)"

"Why spend your Hawaii vacation in a cramped up hotel room and fighting the crowds, when you can take your whole family and spend your time at a private home with lots of room right on the ocean? This is the place to stay! We so much enjoyed our time and our stay here. The home has everything you need to feel at home. You can't beat having ocean front views from all of the bedrooms and letting the waves put you to sleep. And it is so nice to be able to swim in the pool or lounge in the hottub with the ocean just feet away. Even though it was the end of the whale season, we were able see one as he/she jumped out of the water. The location of the house allows you to be only 12 miles from Hilo, and not far drives north of Hilo to the waterfalls and scenic drives, and also a short drive to Volcanos National Park. While in the Puna district, you can drive the coastline for breathtaking views of the coast and beaches while you drive through the tropical forest. For something closer to the house, there are several bicycles that you can use and take a nice ride to the local shoreline parks and beaches. This house is really amazing and I promise you will love it too. Barbara and Jack will make sure you are right at home! Thank you Barbara and Jack for our wonderful stay. We will definitely be coming back here to stay!"

"This was a wonderful find close enough to Hilo for us to enjoy Merrie Monarch Festival week yet in the country that was lush with pastoral views. The home was spotless, very open and large size to accommodate my husband and I and our adult daughter and adult niece. The property is over an acre large and there is an ocean view from the large windows. It was wonderful to just sit and enjoy the sounds of nature, hear the birds, watch the goats and cows next door, and breathe in the fresh air after the frequent rains in Hilo. While there we enjoyed outings to the Volcano Winery, Volcano National Park, Ken's Diner (near the airport), Don's (local food), Zippy's, and Starbucks. KTA grocery store was close by so we ate several meals in given the large and well stocked kitchen and stove. Cynthia, the landlady, was very nice and presented us with some fresh, local apple bananas one day for our breakfast; she was accessible throughout our stay. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay and would definitely stay here again should our vacation plans include Hilo."
