  • Truly a Nature Retreat indeed

"My wife and I stayed here for one week out of our 18 days on the Big Island. The property is lush with all kinds of beautiful trees and flowers. There were grapefruits, oranges, lemons, macadamia nuts and mandarins that we were welcome to help ourselves to! Wake up to peace and tranquility and birds singing. The outdoor bath house and showers were awesome. This property is secluded in one of the most beautiful valleys on the south of the island. So serene to sit outside and have breakfast and enjoy the yard. I highly recommend this place to all who love nature. I would definitely stay there again!"

  • True Peaceful Hawaiian Experience

"This condo has been my husband and myself's refuge from cold winter for several years in a row. While we were not able to visit this past year due to illness, we are booked to come back again and would not hesitate to recommend this condo to others. The area is quiet with spectacular scenery. Bruce has a nicely kept condo with good supplies. One can sit on his deck and watch the waves splash the lava rocks. The area is minimally supplied with restaurants and grocery stores. Do a bit of preplanning of meals for eating in the condo, make a list and shop up in Kona or Hilo on the way down to the condo and you will be well set up for a relaxing time. Restaurants are a 7 - 20 km drive. The nearest grocery is in Naalehu or Pahala. Ice Cream trips are a must, a short 7 minute drive up to Naalehu at the Punaluu Bake Shop and pick up a loaf of fresh baked bread or a sweet bakery treat there at the same time. The Black Sand Beach is very scenic, we love to sit and watch the crashing waves and bask in the warm breezes. It is a 5 minute walk from the condo. The large turtles are amazing to watch flopping in the water and trudging slowly up the sand beach to lie in the sun. The Volcano area is about 20 minutes drive and very worthwhile. Take some warm clothing as it is high elevation at the site. You will find this condo clean and adequately stocked. Bruce is available by phone or email for any difficulties or questions one might have and has an on-site person to assist with any difficulties that might crop up during your stay. You will enjoy your experience in this treasured area."

  • Excellent place, good environment, interesting location.

"I don't like to write reviews. It is simply because most things are not worth my time writing about. However, I feel compelled to write about this place. This is a wonderful place. The apartment has many amenities that you will not find anywhere else. Plus it is really clean and owners are super helpful. The environment is nice. It is close to the black beach. I always tried to walk there in the afternoon to enjoy the nice view. However, the location is very interesting. If you are looking for convenience and close to city, then this is not for you and the owners warned me about it ahead. The closest supermarket is 1.5 hours away. Kona, which has many nice beaches, is 2.5 hours away. However, the volcano is only 30 minutes away, which is very nice. If you are looking for adventure, this is the place for you. There is no shortage of places to go to have fun. So, do consider that before booking. However, with that being said, I had a great time and you will most likely like this too. PS: You will need a car, trust me."

  • Just WOW!

"This was our first trip to Hawaii and we were absolutely pleased with our accommodations! We knew we'd have to drive an hour or so from the condos southern location, but we love being away from crowds. The condo has everything that you need/want waiting for you. We sat on the Lanai every morning and enjoyed the sun rise. Side note - Punaluu bakery is about five miles up the road and they have terrific malasadas."
