"The location was ideal for exploring! Near the condo we saw lots of birds, including Pueo and Nene. The beach (a short walk down the road) always had Green Turtles and snorkeling there is well worth it to see turtles and lots of kinds of fish. The water was a little rough for youngsters, but the kids we saw were happy to play at the shore and see the turtles that were sunning themselves on the beach. There's even a life guard. The condo has everything you could want-we cooked up most of our meals using fresh fruit and veggies from farmers markets, and having a washer and dryer were very nice for our 2 week stay. We loved having the sea breeze through the condo and hearing the birds and ocean. we would love to return!!"

The PERFECT place to get away from the daily grind!!
"From start to finish, Hale Aloha Aina absolutely perfect. The cottage was beautifully decorated, and we honestly felt at home as soon as we walked in. There was so much detail everywhere, inside and outside the cottage, and every time I moved from room to room I noticed different artistic decor I hadn't noticed before. There was plenty of space for all the things my fiancé and I had packed for our 10 day stay on the island, and the kitchen was full of every item we needed to make meals AND store them-- the Tupperware was an extremely helpful detail we hadn't even thought about until we needed to use some! I can also not say enough about the cleanliness of the cottage. It really felt like we were the first people to have ever stayed there-- it was THAT clean!
The area outside the cottage was equally maintained. There had been a storm in the days preceding our arrival, and although it was evident along the road to get to the cottage, the yard area was seemingly untouched! It was also so secluded and peaceful that we had a little trouble leaving the property on our first day there! We did some exploring and both agreed that the limes we found were the freshest and tastiest limes we had ever eaten.
I can also not stress enough how amazing Missy and Tom were as hosts. We arrived to the Big Island in the evening and had some difficulty finding the cottage in the dark. Even with the time difference, Missy and Tom were extremely helpful in getting us there, giving us extra directions and doing their best to make sure we made it safe and sound! The cottage, in the daytime, is really easy to find, so I would definitely take Missy's suggestion to new visitors to arrive when it's still light out. It's a beautiful drive in, and I recommend to anyone staying there to start your day off with a run or walk out to the Temple and back-- there are so many beautiful things you miss in a car! (For reference, it's about 2 miles from the property to the temple.)
Our overall experience at Hale Aloha Aina definitely can't be beat, and I'll absolutely stay there again the next time I'm on the Big Island!"

"We loved this wonderful home for our two month visit to the Big Island! What did we love about it? In a word, everything! Spacious, well equipped, very clean, wonderful king size bed (three bedrooms, but only two of us), centrally located for our needs, quietness of the area, views of the mountains, ocean, and beautiful sunrises made this the ideal home for our visit. The owners are really nice people and very accommodating. We had great communication and even additional photos before our arrival and provided a list with descriptions of exciting things to do on the island. They even provided beach chairs, snorkel gear, beach towels and anything else needed for the beach.
We were here during the winter visits of Humpback whales and blessed with many spectacular viewing opportunities. There are great beaches and hiking opportunities in the immediate area and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is just a short drive away with many sights and hikes to enjoy. We really enjoyed two local places to eat and snack, Hana Hou Restaurant with a full and the Punaluu Bakery with great sandwiches, ice cream and malasadas. The central location, which is roughly halfway between Hilo and Kona, enabled us to do several day trips to other parts of the island and we even got in an overnighter in the backcountry of the national park.
For us this home was magical and the great value allowed us to do more things than if we had stayed in a resort area. We hope to be able to return in the future."

Gorgeous house with very private and quiet location!
"We stayed here from May25, 2014 until June 30, 2014 while we were looking for a long term rental, and thoroughly enjoyed this home. It is so beautiful and we especially loved the kitchen, the vaulted wood beam ceilings, and glass door stand up showers. Very nice breeze throughout the day and night with the windows open. Had everything we needed and we were very comfortable there. Raul was easy to work with and very hospitable to us and made it an easy stay. If you want to explore the south part of the island, then this is the place to be. It is on the south tip and you can go east or west to Hilo or Kona. It is near South Point green sand beaches which is awesome. Volcano National Park isn't too far either. Ka'u has the macadamia nut and Ka'u coffee tasting that is pretty cool too. There is a pretty cool view of the ocean on clear days so you still feel and remember that you are in Hawaii. Huge lanai that is comfortable and keeps you dry when it is raining. We used the yoga mats and exercised on the lanai everyday with 5 of us, so it is very big!
Thanks again Raul for allowing us to stay in your home and we hope others will find this review useful as well. Semper Fi brother and God bless!"
