  • Excellent place, good environment, interesting location.

"I don't like to write reviews. It is simply because most things are not worth my time writing about. However, I feel compelled to write about this place. This is a wonderful place. The apartment has many amenities that you will not find anywhere else. Plus it is really clean and owners are super helpful. The environment is nice. It is close to the black beach. I always tried to walk there in the afternoon to enjoy the nice view. However, the location is very interesting. If you are looking for convenience and close to city, then this is not for you and the owners warned me about it ahead. The closest supermarket is 1.5 hours away. Kona, which has many nice beaches, is 2.5 hours away. However, the volcano is only 30 minutes away, which is very nice. If you are looking for adventure, this is the place for you. There is no shortage of places to go to have fun. So, do consider that before booking. However, with that being said, I had a great time and you will most likely like this too. PS: You will need a car, trust me."

  • Good base location for exploring the Big Island

"Lovely home, spacious and well equipped. This property is clean, very well-maintained and is in a great location for exploring the island. Fantastic views from the wrap-around porch and lovely landscaping on the property to admire. Linda does a great job maintaining the property and is very friendly and helpful. Quiet and peaceful and a great place to hang out. Mornings and evenings can be cool, as Joanne told us, but weren't cool enough for us to need a fire. We would definitely recommend to others."

  • Heaven on earth.

"This is an amazing property. Hard to believe that the world hasn't beaten a path to this lovely enclave on the ocean. Turtle Hut II is five star accommodation: comfortable, tasteful, and thoughtfully outfitted. The colony is gorgeous and friendly and the pool is fabulous, clean, well maintained and just the right size. It's worth the distance from Kona and is close to a famous black sand beach populated by turtles and fish. Enjoy! We did."

  • Aaaahhh...Tranquility Actualized

"Upon our arrival late Christmas night, we were greeted by a celestial show of stars before we even made one step inside the house. At that point, we felt safe to say that our trip was destined to be a success. The pictures of the home do not depict the interior's size. The master bedroom was huge with large picture windows and screens which we opened to enjoy the ocean's breeze. From the porch we could spy the most southern point in the U.S. Our location was advantageous in visiting both sides of the Big Island. We were able to leisurely tour and hike portions of Volcano National Park which wasn't too far away. We visited the black and green beaches of the area and even witnessed a large turtle resting on the sand. We contacted the owners several times and they were more than helpful to direct us to the beach below the house- kind of a hike, but we endured. We do extensive research on vacation homes we rent and were well satisfied in selecting this house as our base for our Big Island adventures. If you thrive in a busy, noisy locale, you might consider somewhere else. However, if you like solitude, no sirens, no barking dogs, no loud trucks, no hot rod cars, or rowdy neighbors, then you have found the right location. We don't think you will regret it."
