  • Epitome of cozy - perfect!

"My family and I stayed at the Yurt in the Sky one night of our week on the Big Island and wished we could have moved it around with us - it was perfectly cozy. Despite the cool evening temps up in the lava flow slopes of Ocean View (it's out there!), the yurt was comfortable once we got the propane fireplace lit. Plugged in our laptop and used the wireless to play some Jazz and watch a comedy by the flickering fire. The loft was perfect for the kids, the bedroom was great for us - comfortable. Could see the stars through the yurt's center skylight and from out on the deck, the night looked like diamonds with so little ambient light around us. The morning sun awoke us given the yurt's walls are translucent (but not see through). Breakfast on the propane grill of pancakes and bacon. Fridge was large enough for us to put our whole cooler in it for the evening (we stocked up in Hilo with groceries, ice and a styro cooler to keep costs down). Simply loved the Yurt and Marilyn's instructions were spot on about lighting the fireplace, accessing the unit, changing the propane tank (came in handy!), etc. Would definitely recommend staying here if you have a chance. On par with hotel prices in the area, but the experience is far more memorable. If you stay multiple days, it'll be cheaper than most hotels since there's only one cleaning fee per stay."

  • The PERFECT place to get away from the daily grind!!

"From start to finish, Hale Aloha Aina absolutely perfect. The cottage was beautifully decorated, and we honestly felt at home as soon as we walked in. There was so much detail everywhere, inside and outside the cottage, and every time I moved from room to room I noticed different artistic decor I hadn't noticed before. There was plenty of space for all the things my fiancé and I had packed for our 10 day stay on the island, and the kitchen was full of every item we needed to make meals AND store them-- the Tupperware was an extremely helpful detail we hadn't even thought about until we needed to use some! I can also not say enough about the cleanliness of the cottage. It really felt like we were the first people to have ever stayed there-- it was THAT clean! The area outside the cottage was equally maintained. There had been a storm in the days preceding our arrival, and although it was evident along the road to get to the cottage, the yard area was seemingly untouched! It was also so secluded and peaceful that we had a little trouble leaving the property on our first day there! We did some exploring and both agreed that the limes we found were the freshest and tastiest limes we had ever eaten. I can also not stress enough how amazing Missy and Tom were as hosts. We arrived to the Big Island in the evening and had some difficulty finding the cottage in the dark. Even with the time difference, Missy and Tom were extremely helpful in getting us there, giving us extra directions and doing their best to make sure we made it safe and sound! The cottage, in the daytime, is really easy to find, so I would definitely take Missy's suggestion to new visitors to arrive when it's still light out. It's a beautiful drive in, and I recommend to anyone staying there to start your day off with a run or walk out to the Temple and back-- there are so many beautiful things you miss in a car! (For reference, it's about 2 miles from the property to the temple.) Our overall experience at Hale Aloha Aina definitely can't be beat, and I'll absolutely stay there again the next time I'm on the Big Island!"

  • Great Stay!

"A wonderful condo that exceeded our expectations. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying there again. Living in North Kohala, we rarely make it to this side of the island and the location is perfect for exploring the area."

  • Outstanding!!!!

"Our stay at Aina Lani was outstanding! I have taken the time to write this review because this cottage is a little gem. The feel and layout of the cottage is immediately welcoming and comfortable. The whole cottage is very clean and enjoyable to be in. It has big beautiful windows, a great kitchen to cook in, a gorgeous bathroom and outstanding outdoor space! Anne and David have taken care of many of the small details, from having several towels on hand if needed, to having a packed beach bag with a set of beach towels and snorkels. They also provided a cooler in the closet, flashlights to maneuver around the dark grounds and an umbrella in case of a tropical down pour. The kitchen tools were well picked and we had everything we needed including reusable containers and zip blocks (a nice convenient touch). They have not used any strongly scented cleaners or detergents which is rare and very much appreciated by me. The bed was very cozy and comfortable as was the living room furniture. They were very respectful of our space, we only saw David upon arriving and departing otherwise we did not see them at all. It was great having all of the little extras (like we would at home) it made our stay much more enjoyable knowing that we didn't need to bother them for an extra towel or roll of toilet paper :) Alongside all of the carefully thought out amenities they also greeted us very kindly with a bowl of tropical fruit as well as two chilled bottles of water in the fridge. The grounds of the cottage is truly a little piece of paradise, it's secluded and allows you to be completely away. The outdoor space is more than the pictures show. It's beautifully groomed and has many little areas, it's very serene and relaxing with big tropical plants everywhere! The cottage is secluded so the nights are dark, the star show is unbelievable. The bedroom has a big beautiful window and is the perfect place to lay and watch the stars before the day is over. The cottage is located close to the volcano and a beautiful black sand beach, it is secluded so factor that in when you are deciding how you will be spending your vacation. I highly recommend Aina Lani! Thank you Anne and David for renting out such an enjoyable place! I hope to visit again!"
