"We stayed on our home island for our kids' Fall break. This property is as described and well stocked with most things you will need. Plenty of room for our family of 2 adults and 2 adult sized teenagers. There was a telescope available for our use, and we enjoyed viewing the moon. Our host was kind enough to call us after our stay to try and return medication we forgot. Four stars instead of five because the tennis courts were in terrible shape, with grass coming up through the cracks and the surfaces unsafe for use. My daughter and I were disappointed that we couldn't get in any practice. There was construction and yard service noise each day of our stay, which interrupted our lazy day naps. Overall, we will stay, again when we want to get away from the usual business of Hilo."

"Having never visited the island before, the location was intimidating but easy to find with the maps app on my phone. That same remote location makes this house perfect for a relaxed getaway on the Big Island. The house is 3000 feet up Mauna Loa, so the days are warm'ish and nights are perfectly cool, no a/c needed here! Coming from a metropolitan area, the quietness, tranquility, and incredibly dark skies were the best features of this house. Located roughly half way between Kona and Volcanoes National Park, it's the perfect base camp for exciting day trips. Remember, the Big Island is big so you will still drive a good distance to any attractions. The generously stocked kitchen, guide books, and outdoor grill were very nice surprises. The house was spotless, and very well supplied, the owner obviously takes a lot of pride in this property.
Advice for potential renters: don't be afraid of the location, it's completely worth the effort to get here; stock up on food in Kona or Hilo, there is supermarket in Ocean View, but the prices are very high; take time to go for a walk in the neighborhood and enjoy the exotic plant life, lava field, and the peace and quiet."

"This beautiful clean and comfortable house with all amenities is perfect if you are looking for a location with solitude, the views are amazing. We especially loved the lanai (where we spent the majority of our time) & the Jacuzzi area. Having two OV grocery stores and the fully stocked kitchen made preparing our meals easy, the gas grill worked great for cooking seafood, steaks and burgers. The travel guides, maps etc. made our “what to do today” decisions simple. We thoroughly enjoyed all that the south point area has to offer. Hauling trash and water was a minor inconvenience. One week was not long enough. Mahalo for sharing your peaceful home with us, we hope to stay again next year."
