"Planning a trip home to the Big Island under our circumstances was a stressful event. From the moment we contacted Pahala Town House on VRBO, a great burden was lifted. Locating Peter and Fran's Vacation Rental and communicating with them has been a blessing. The photos posted of the property on VBRO does not do justice. Seeing it in person and residing here during our stay far exceeded any of our expectations. We appreciate all of the effort and thought they have put into making this a home away from home. It is beautifully decorated, clean, efficient and practical. I wouldn't change a thing! Volpe's, thank you so much for accommodating our needs, being flexible with our schedule and most of all for your hospitable spirit. Your kind attention and expressions of sympathy during this difficult time for our family will never be forgotten. You and your home have provided much needed comfort at a time of great loss. We hope that our next visit to Pahala will be under happier circumstances and that we will be able to stay here at the Pahala Town House once more. We have stayed at many hotels throughout the years, but they all fail in comparison. Mahalo Nui Loa, Mark and Wendy Fausset of Euless, TX."

"We stayed on our home island for our kids' Fall break. This property is as described and well stocked with most things you will need. Plenty of room for our family of 2 adults and 2 adult sized teenagers. There was a telescope available for our use, and we enjoyed viewing the moon. Our host was kind enough to call us after our stay to try and return medication we forgot. Four stars instead of five because the tennis courts were in terrible shape, with grass coming up through the cracks and the surfaces unsafe for use. My daughter and I were disappointed that we couldn't get in any practice. There was construction and yard service noise each day of our stay, which interrupted our lazy day naps. Overall, we will stay, again when we want to get away from the usual business of Hilo."

"Having never visited the island before, the location was intimidating but easy to find with the maps app on my phone. That same remote location makes this house perfect for a relaxed getaway on the Big Island. The house is 3000 feet up Mauna Loa, so the days are warm'ish and nights are perfectly cool, no a/c needed here! Coming from a metropolitan area, the quietness, tranquility, and incredibly dark skies were the best features of this house. Located roughly half way between Kona and Volcanoes National Park, it's the perfect base camp for exciting day trips. Remember, the Big Island is big so you will still drive a good distance to any attractions. The generously stocked kitchen, guide books, and outdoor grill were very nice surprises. The house was spotless, and very well supplied, the owner obviously takes a lot of pride in this property.
Advice for potential renters: don't be afraid of the location, it's completely worth the effort to get here; stock up on food in Kona or Hilo, there is supermarket in Ocean View, but the prices are very high; take time to go for a walk in the neighborhood and enjoy the exotic plant life, lava field, and the peace and quiet."

""Yurt in the sky" was comfortable, cozy and perfect for our needs. It was quite an experience to learn that comfort does not have to depend on high energy consumption. Ocean View is an interesting neighborhood and the yurt has amazing views as well as star gazing opportunities. The only downside is that it takes awhile to get to the yurt from the main road. We enjoyed our stay and experienced great comfort."
